Oh, for Fry, that's pretty complicated.

I enjoy this episode a lot. Love it when he says "old sport" 'cause that's from The Great Gatsby, which is one of my favorite novels ever. I like Bender much more when he's like he is in this episode, than the way he is in episodes such as APTR or IITM.

Disturbing but funny. The greeting card that Bender gets for Mom is so creepy. It's too sweet.    :puke: I like sweet but that's just too much.

Quote
Mom: [on TV] Well, I've never seen my babies act this way. I blame today's violent media.
Fry: Violent media? What a load of--
[He screams. The TV grows legs and kicks Fry and Leela in the shins.]
Now that's violent media.

Quote
Fry: W-W-Wait. You mean ... you ... and Mom--
Farnsworth: Played pelvic pinochle? I'm afraid so.

I guess that's one way say have sex...

Quote
Farnsworth: Very well. If cop a feel I must, then cop a feel I shall!
[He tears open his shirt, revealing a medallion underneath. Igner squeaks again.]

Why does he have the medallion under his shirts that's a bit weird.

Quote
Zoidberg: Is this what human mating looks like? Because I like it!

Wow Zoidberg. I can't think of anything else to say right now. Infact I can barly even see straight.

km73: Ok it was complicated for Fry. I wanna know where he came up with that idea.

I'm definitely with you on this one.  The writers took every opportunity to skewer touchy feely protesters; I love the "we taught a lion to eat tofu" line (then showing an emaciated lion coughing).  Also, when they're on the TV nightline show, they introduce Free Waterfall JR. as a "noted anti-eating activist".  Zing!  Great stuff...

Yeah I agree about Steven Hawking's lines and stuff but overall it was kinda boring especially when compared to the rest of the action packes What if... questions. One question though... Why didn't we see Nibbler's shadow? Like we did in the first episode when Fry was falling in to the [Fry]freezer doodle[/Fry] and every other time that particular scene was shown.

They (kind of) explain it in the commentary.  Give me 30 mintues to rewatch it....

ETA: ...Ok, so they don't explain it.  I must have read about it in an interview or something.  Basically, I think it comes down to: Nibbler wasn't there, therefore Fry didn't have the momentum/direction to roll into the cryogenics chamber, therefore that "What If" can exist.

In other words, it was just to emphasize that Nibbler was the reason Fry became frozen.

My absolutly favorite episode. Especially the killing spree segment, classic.

Leela: "So, Fry, what do you think of the impulsive new me?"

Fry: "I like it!"

Leela: "Good. Now let me just get the lights."

Fry: "I really like it!"

Hey, wait, I still wanted to say something about AOI1.
In my opinion the impulsive-Leela segment in this episode features the best-ever use of Zoidberg. Him acting as the inept detective was just flawless.
Now, War is the H-Word...well, what to say about this episode other than that it's hilarious. Zapp, Kif, Nixon, "balls thoroughly licked"...first class.
I also particularly loved the bit where Fry watches Leela attack the guards and he's like "Wait, that's not me" or something.

Km73, listen to the DVD commentary about the ball jokes, quite funny on it's own.

Best part of this episode is Nixon... Arooo! Also Zap, using the element of surprise  :)

Are the cryptic comments of the balls a reference to something? They kinda like a cross the Zeroids and Cubes from Terrahawks.

Love this episode. But when has Bender ever used daffodil outside of this episode? My favorite line from this episode is "These balls are making me testy!"   :laff: I'll post more when I watch the episode and the commentary later.

From Wikipedia:

Quote
In this view, any sexual activities in which a male penetrated a social inferior was regarded as normal; "social inferiors" could include women, male youths, foreigners, prostitutes, or slaves...

*snip*

They also describe them as "warm," "loving," and "affectionate," and argue that the Greek tradition of same-sex relations was central to "Greek history and warfare, politics, art, literature and learning, in short to the Greek miracle."[9]

Ancient Greece was known for its (relative) acceptance of homosexuality, at least in the higher classes, and since Zapp's rank is superior to "Lemon"'s....

So... did anyone else notice that the ambassador balls were essentially flying brains in transparent, spherical casings?  They kind of looked like the Brain Spawn.

I'm sure that's completely irrelevant, but it's something that came to mind while I was watching it.

Addon: This is definaltly one of Zapps gayest episodes. I'm still not done with the ep. I keep getting distracted by friends and haveing to get family members from all over town.

Yeah, that's the idea.  Remember how eager Leela was to meet him, then relalized he was a media creation - in truth a manipulative, self-centered poor excuse for a human being?

Zapp is like Dan Fielding from Night Court - comic relief because he's such an over-the-top character.  The true polar opposite of Leela.

*Stares blankly at Gascheifs post* Okaaaaaaaaaay. Yeah Zapp is extremely odd. I love seeing Zapp get beaten up, but you'd think that it would knock him down a knotch [Elzar]BAM![/Elzar] but it doesn't, he bouces back very quickly. He gets pleasure out of the strangest things, he wears a velour mini-dress for god's sake. My dad is convinced that Zapp in metrosexual if not gay. I think that I'd have to agree with him.
