I love that idea of watching all 72 eps over the next 72 days. Futurama-thon '07. hosted at my house.

@SP: Why did you keep them in your room? That's the exact reason mine have never even seen my room because I know I'd lose them in the... there's not even a word to desribe the disaster that is my bedroom.

I don't have anywhere else to keep them. I watch them in my room so that's where they are I guess. :P

Oh, I guess I'd do the same id I had to check the most random sports for them thats usually where stuff turns up. [Yancy]Lucky.[/Yancy] You got a t.v. in your room. Damn I can't even get a iPod alarm clock. Oh, I literally just came up with this. It fits watching an episode a day. An episode a day keeps Doctor Zoidberg away. What do yous guys thinks abouts its?

I am actually planning on doing this. I can find time every single day until the release to do this. In fact, I got the whole first season already uploaded onto my computer.

It's been a while since I watched the DVDs.  I'll do it, that's why I bought them.  Watching one episode a day wouldn't be a problem.

I'm sorry, I can't help you there. I probably will learn by the end of the year, though. That's when I hope to get an iPod Touch for Christmas. It'll be a darn shame for me if I can't put Futurama on it, and after weeks of uploading almost all of the episodes, disc by disc.

The day that "Bender's Big Score", I'm going to have to get everything done on my schedule first, because I know after I watch it, the only thing I'd be too hyped up to be able to do anything else.

Wacky dates eh? OK, how about this: There were 1596 days between the airing of SP3K and TDHAIP on Fox, and there will have been 1570 days between the airing of TDHAIP and the release of the movie. Ho hum.

Bendersfan1221: once you get the episodes on your computer you can use Videora Ipod Converter to put it in a format that will work with itunes.

This is an excellent idea, but I'm going to take a slightly different approach to it.  Instead of watching an episode a day, I'm going to turn the commentary on.  I've already seen allthe episodes, but I'm not entirely sure I ever listened to all of the commentaries; and maybe, just MAYBE, I'll pick up on something that'll feature in the coming movie.

...Maybe.

I just recently finished my Futurama annual rewatch [of all 72 episodes], but I can have another go.... I'll actually watch the first one today then seeing as how I just watched The Honking for a project in one of my classes.

Also, laffo at the fat nerds who lose DVDs in their trashy rooms.

Hey RatchetMan, take it easy with your comments here.  It's really not very nice to call someone a "fat nerd" without knowing who or what they are.  It's comments like those that take the fun out of posting on a board like this.  My suggestion: make nice & apologize right now.

Translation: seattlejohn01 is an obese geek.

In conclusion, I'd consider doing a 72/72, but I'm afraid I'd just forget, especially with Bioshock to play now, then Halo 3, the Half-Life 2: Orange Box.  Maybe in November I'll have some sort of marathon.

Not quite, Nix.  I just think that it's pretty uncool to call an 8th grade girl a "fat nerd".  If you were an adult or had kids, you'd understand.

...I'm an adult, and I have kid siblings, and I thought RatchetMan was just making a joke.  I don't see the part where he aimed that remark at anyone in paticular, let alone a 13 year old girl.

ETA: Unless you mean SP?  I thought he was just describing the stereotypical sci-fi fan, and that the comment was directed at the community in general, not her specifically.

And I'm perfectly happy with people calling me a nerd.  I'm not going to deny what I am.      :p

ANYWAY, I watched the pilot and was reminded of the alien languages and phrases scattered throughout the show.  I hope they bring those back; those were fun to translate.

Inspired by this thread, I also watched the pilot today.

With time-travel being a major plot point in the movie. Does anyone think we might get more information on why/how the building Fry was frozen in, was saved from alien destruction?

Or are there any other "secrets" in the pilot like  Nibblers shadow still waiting to be revealed?

Yep, she's the only one who made comments about losing dvd's in her room in this thread.  And is an 8th grade girl, which would make it uncool to call her a "fat nerd"; I dislike name calling, especially when hiding behind the internet.  Anywho, I made my point.  Regarding this thread, I'm doing the 72 days/72 dvd adventure as well, and will be looking forward to hearing how others are doing on it...

Read this thread for all news relating to the movies. For the short and skinny, the first movie will be released on DVD this November. It will be rearranged, scenes will be added and cut, and the movie will broadcast as 4 new episodes on Comedy Central. If you didn't know, CC gets the rights to broadcasting Futurama in 2008, roughly a month after the DVD is released. Seems like [adult swim] will soon become [the family guy & robot chicken party block], eh?

This is a stellar idea. I liked 1BDI's proposal of watching the commentaries as well. I would've likely watched without commentaries for the episodes I don't know as well, like Where the Buggalo Roam and A Pharaoh to Remember, but these aren't, coincidentally, the best shows in the series (in my opinion); I'll likely just watch them with commentaries.

It's one of the crueler ironies about the episode commentaries: APtR is my least favorite episode ever, but the commentary for it very well may be my very favoritest episode commentary.
