Well on the bay you can open a case against a seller if they don't ship the item within a stated time (now they make it so you have to communicate with them first and then open the case). On pay pal there isn't really security on the shipping, you just gotta trust they'll ship it. I'm not sure what the difference is with the invoice, I had someone who I've sold to before (at their suggestion) send me money through there and the box popped up for the tracking number, that's never happened to me before through a pay pal transfer alone.

Hmmmm I always assumed that with PayPal you had 28days after purchase to make a claim but you have to have proof that you have at least tried to resolve it your self, the boner of it is that PayPal always favour the buyer, so if the guy your selling to isn't legit you could get screwed (and not in the sexy way)

I'm not sure, I rarely ever sell things through pay-pal. I never suggest it to buyers.

Was just reading in a Facebook toy trading group a discussion on this question of eBay vs Paypal.

For the seller, there are still fees with Paypal, but they are much less than eBay + Paypal. So if a seller wants to do Paypal only, as a buyer you could ask for a lower price since they'll be saving the eBay fees.

More importantly, the gist of the conversation was that as a buyer you could have confidence just with Paypal protection. The key thing though is you need to make sure you pay for it as buying something, rather than as a gift or personal payment.

Don't have all the details, but that's what I remember reading and many people seem to chime in and agree with it. So there you go, for whatever that's worth.

 ;)

Good news everyone!  Found that link...

In another confirmation that our memories aren't as we think they are, it wasn't a Facebook group but rather the Kidrobot forums, and it may not have been many people but a few people who chimed in.  :p Nonetheless, from my attention-deficit read of it, they seem to be favourable to doing a Paypal-only transaction, albeit with some caveats. Read on...

As a seller, I don't see the point of going through pay-pal outside of the bay if I am just going to get less money. I had that happen to me recently, we agreed on a price per item and then I was asked to lower it 10%, the exact fee e-bay charges. What's the point? I would have rather listed it online and gotten the feedback and credit to my account.

So I popped into Toynami's Facebook page and realize that they've blocked me!

Can't comment, like posts or message them. My offense apparently was complaining that them posting Futurama posters after cancelling the line was just rubbing salt in the wound.

Meanwhile, there's posts on there with people telling them they suck or bashing the plushies (which I long wanted to, but respectfully refrained from).

It's unbelievable, I've bought all their Futurama figures and have been beating the drum loudly here and other boards for the toyline for years. Even had a few email exchanges with them.

And this is the thanks I get? All because I lamented the fact that they won't take more of my money. Never ceases to amaze me how toy companies always seem to manage to burn their bridges with fans by the end of a toyline.

It's no wonder these companies are always struggling to stay afloat.

I noticed someone posted Talking Robot Devils preorders on eBay today for July shipment. Thought it seemed odd... I really hope they know something we don't know.

So I asked the seller what he had heard from Toynami when the release date was, and he responded back within a few hours:

I was told late june/July 2013 from my distributor

We'll see if more of these start to pop up online...

I've never understood why anyone would pre-order through Ebay. Doesn't the eBay clock start ticking (for opening a dispute, leaving feedback?) from the date the auction ends? If so, aren't you left with no recourse if item doesn't ship within 45/60 days?

I know, you only have 45 days I think to open a case once it's purchased.

So this guy wrote back to me as well:

Quote
hallo, we keep pushing back because we didnt want our customer to get confuse, the listing is updating all the time to let the new
customer know we dont have stock yet. Delay is very common in
toy industry , more likely because of manufacturer delay, custom delay, all things can happen, so they just wont give us an exact date as i cant give you either.

Sounds like neither is really sure what's going on now... :hmpf:

I don't know if it's a great idea for your wallet, but I love the Kidrobot South Park series. This may be heresy to say on this board, but frankly I like it better than the Kidrobot Futurama series. Somehow the South Park style lends itself better to the figures.

(This eBay listing ending soon seems like a good opportunity to get someone started.)

I love the bender kidrobot but the rest just don't seem right the thing I would buy kidrobot futurama for would be the accessories such as lurr for his bucket of popplers, it's tough decisions all over, perhaps I should just focus on wanting destructor lol

well, accoring to the all knowing infosphere updated may 13th 'As of 23 April, 2013, the main line of figures and the talking Robot Devil are officially cancelled, with the Tineez and plush lines to continue.'

on entertainment earth it says 'july 2013'.

I dont have a facebook and have sent toynami some nasty emails so they dont contact me anymore.

that's all the info ive gathered.

anyone else?

this is simply speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised if the success, or potentially lack thereof, of this current season on CC directly dictates the fate of the Robot Devil and other stuff that is stuck in limbo. As for new items we haven't even seen yet, I'd be amazed if anything was ever produced again without Futurama being picked up by another network.

I hope I'm wrong.
