So this is the new series for 2009.I personally wanted the professor for quite some time. I like how he looks here. And I think he's the one that comes with Nibbler who has also been requested by fans several times. Hermes is there too so we'll be able to complete our PE crew. I LOVE that new chef Bender! We'll need an Elzar in 2010 to go with that. And last but not least is Mom. I think Mom is one of the greatest characters on Futurama but the figure's bland stare makes it kind of dull to me. I hope we get a SDCC exclusive where she looks more evil. But it is pretty awesome that she comes with her fat-suit! I hope they give her some kind of base to stand on because Mom's got tiny feet. The new build-a-bot figure is... Roberto! He's not on display at Toy Fair but I'm stoked we're getting him. First overall impression: They look cool. Toynami definately listened to the fans this time by rounding out the rest of the PE crew. So is it going to be 4 figures instead of 6 or will there be 2 more at some point? We'll probably learn more about that this week. The only thing that's a bit of a let down for me is the lack of aliens. I wanted to see Lrrr and Morbo so bad... Oh well, maybe at Toy Fair 2010.

Beautiful, I'll want them all. Kudos to Toynami for listening to the fans and completing the core Planet Express crew with Farnsworth, Hermes (with brain slug please!) and Nibbler (with litter box please!). Same goes for Roberto, who seemed to have been a consensus pick for the BAF, while Mom had a lot of interest too (gather that's one figure with removable fat suit?). While Chef Bender is not the most inspired choice, I'm impressed with the execution. Assuming he's going to have interchangeable eyes, Toynami if you're listening please give us some new varieties of eye expressions. I'd be most interested to hear any confirmation on whether it's now a four-figure series or still six-figure with two to be named later. If it is now down to four is this a good or bad indicator for the future of the line? Any thoughts? And if there are two figures still to be announced, I second you on Lrrr and Morbo. With the Planet Express crew in the bag (knock on wood), puny humans must make a Morbo figure!

Not so exciting news everyone... Seems like we won't see Amy and Clobberella until May of 2009. I thought they were to be released any time now. I'd be most interested to hear any confirmation on whether it's now a four-figure series or still six-figure with two to be named later. If it is now down to four is this a good or bad indicator for the future of the line? Any thoughts? I think Figures.com will have a short article on this subject this week. It could be the end of the line. There won't be any new movies coming out. I think Toynami is making these "fan favorite" figures to keep the line going and sort of buy some time for Matt and David and company to maybe work on a deal with Fox for more Futurama. I don't think we'll see any new figures beyond what we see at Toyfair if the show doesn't continue in some format or another.

Not so exciting news everyone... Seems like we won't see Amy and Clobberella until May of 2009. Good spot on the fine print. That's annoying to have to wait another three months to complete my Robot Santa BAF! It seemed like the line was finally speeding up with just two months between the past two waves, but now we're back to the more typical 4-5 months apparently. Maybe Toynami just rushed out the last wave for Christmas? Aug 2007 - Fry / Zoidberg Jan 2008 - Leela / Zapp [+5 months] May 2008 - Bender / Kif [+4 months] Oct 2008 - Captain Yesterday / Nudar [+5 months] Dec 2008 - King Bender / Calculon [+2 months] May 2009 - Clobberella / Amy [+5 months] If so, and I'm just speculating here, maybe October 2009 for the new figures to start? ??? - Hermes / Mom ??? - Farnsworth / Chef Bender If anyone hears of a tentative date from Toynami, please let us know.

here is a theory i hope is proved wrong wave 7 - hermes and mom wave 8 - farnsworth and chef bender wave 9 - fat mom and nibbler? (6 part roberto) This occurred to me too, as I was wondering if Mom might be two figures and it has been speculated that Nibbler didn't come as an accessory with Leela so that Toynami could do a standalone version of him with his ship. But that would have to be some kick-ass ship to make a figure that small worthwhile on his own. I don't really see it. Also expecting people to pay for two versions of Mom, who isn't a core character, doesn't seem realistic. Looking at the photos, though only prototypes, the fat suit version of Mom seems like one piece with the arms stuck to the body. My gut still thinks it's some sort of wraparound for the thin version. I certainly hope so! Until we hear otherwise, I'm inclined to assume it will continue to be six figures with two still to be announced. Looking back at Toy Fair 2008, we only saw Captain Yesterday, Nudar and King Bender), with confirmation following about the others. So fingers crossed for a couple more still to be announced this time around (Morbo, Morbo, Morbo...). By the way, there are also pictures over at ASM, including this closeup of the new figures without the "Pending licensor approval sign":

New pictures at Action-Figure.com with some nice close-ups of the new figures. It would be cool if Hermes came with the brainslug Jabalong suggested. Make one out of transluscent plastic, paint an eye on and have him fit over one of Hermes' dreadlocks. I think that would look pretty cool and make Hermes a little more interesting. He's a dull green dressed bureaucrat after all. He could use a cool little feature like that.

Figures.com posted a short article on the new Toynami figures. No info if it'll be four or six figures but it does say Mom's dress is attacheble (so it's not two sepperate figures).

Here's the key bit from that Figures.com article: Next for the Futurama series will be the Roberto Build-A-Bot collection. This exciting figure collection will kick off with:
* Series 7 - Hermes and Mom ( attachable dress- prototype pending licensor approval)
* Series 8 - Professor Farnsworth and Chef Bender
As you say, this allays fears of Mom being two figures, as the fat suit is intended to be attacheable/removable. And though there's no mention of Nibbler, that's probably a good thing and suggests to me that he'll just be an accessory (with the speculation being that he'll come with Farnsworth). The last question still on my mind is whether we are now down to a four-figure series or it will remain six with two more figures to be announced. I am heartened by the words "will kick off", which suggests the "Roberto series" may have more figures to be announced. Or it could just be a misleading choice of words...
