I just got my notice from Big Bad Toy Store that the latest wave of figures is in stock.  They finally got the Cloberella & Amy figures in.

I have a pretty good idea what the new comic con figure is this year :flirt: im about 80% sure its alternate Universe Leela. I opened a collectors book in forbidden planet yesterday and it had the model with the comic con logo underneath it.

Good catch, looks like you've got it half right. According to someone over at KidRobot, it's:

"Futurama - Alternate Universe Fry/Leela 2-pack - 2000 pcs"

And they posted a pic from ToyFare magazine to prove it...

Added to golden Bender and blue Zoidberg of exclusives past, this will give us four out of the seven alternate universe versions of the planet Express crew. Let's hope the line continues in 2010 and we can finish the set.

Perhaps they could do a rerelease of normal Leela with the proper hair colour this time, or even a reissue of the MAC version with improved paint!

That is awesome news, just what we had hoped for, thumbs up to Toynami for the universe 1 exclusives (which i called a while back if you check my comment on this board from May 19th)!?  :flirt:

The Leela/Fry SDCC exclusive has already made its first appearance on eBay at a very steep $79.95! This seems even more expensive than Robot Santa/Bender. I'm hoping I can get it for a lot cheaper than that somehow.

Let's see, I think that price is optimistic - though I'll be happy to have them, I have a hard time seeing a Fry/Leela repaint commanding a higher price than a Bender plus Robot Santa. I'm guessing maybe around the $40-50 range, but we'll see.

I received my Amy and Clobberella from BBTS today and am very pleased. The two figures are both well done, particularly Clobberella in my opinion, and really tie together the collection - finishing off the New Justice Team and giving Kif his girlfriend.

The only negative point for me is that in getting Leela's purple hair right for Clobberella, it really makes you realize how wrong the original one was, so side by side it takes away from that one. Oh well, at least they've got it right now.

But the big payoff from getting these two is finally finishing off Robot Santa. I am glad I waited for the build-a-bot rather than going for the SDCC 2008 exclusive version, as it's really rewarding to get such a huge, impressive figure essentially for free.

And kudos to Toynami for a couple of key special touches to differentiate the build-a-bot Robot Santa from the SDCC version. The spiked ball for his hat and the arm with the machine gun really bring the figure together.

All in all I'm very pleased and looking forward to the Roberto waves.

It will be sold at the SDCC 2009 convention, which isn't until 23-26 July in San Diego. You'll start to see preorders for it on eBay and some toy seller sites, with delivery after the convention. That's usually how it works. Unless you know someone who's going to the show...

So, does anyone else hope Hermes is going to come with a attachable Brain Slug as an accessory? Or is that just me?

Must have brain slug, must have brain slug!

With his protruding hair, it ought to be easy enough for Toynami to include a soft plastic removable slug that fits around part of his hair...

After reading this review and looking at the pictures I really can't wait to get these figures!

I can't say I'm that excited about the U-1 Fry & Leela two-pack. I got the blue Zoidberg and golden Bender exclusives but I like them 'cause they were funny in that episode. Also I remember their colors because they were so distinctively different and eye-catching. I don't feel that way about Fry and Leela in that episode.

Maybe I will like them better if Toynami decides to do U-1 variants of Amy, Farnsworth and Hermes. That way they'll look nice as a group of figures. :)

I'm also wondering if Toynami will show something new at SDCC.

Besides the alternate universe Fry and Leela, I think the only really new thing we might see at SDCC is an actual figure of the build-a-bot Roberto. Otherwise, we already saw at ToyFair in February the prototypes for Hermes, Farnsworth, Mom and Chef Bender. Though with Hermes and Farnsworth next up for release, we may see the final versions and perhaps even boxed.

A good point made over at Slurmed about the SDCC 2009 exclusives:

Quote
I don't like the accessories though, because those are also the same than the original ones, according to the preview. Leela 1 should have a Diamond Scrunchie and Fry 1 perhaps something else, but not the holophone again (maybe some Bachelor Chow!).

Hadn't really occurred to me that the alternate universe characters would have different accessories. Maybe Toynami will surprise us, though I won't hold my breath. Nevertheless. I'll just be glad to get my hands on the figures.

Thanks for the mention jabalong :). I really hope that could bring some interesting accessories with the exclusive figures. Remember that the Blue Zoidberg has the same boring stethoscope than the original one.

Like Scruffy would say: second!
I didn't think about that as a Fry accessory, but is a neat idea.
The accessory of Leela is more difficult to idealize..
