Perhaps you should finish the episode.

Pfft. Like I could go an entire 21 minutes without posting on PEEL.

Why does Bart control the PEEL Facebook page, by the way? What a supreme arseclown. That's right, Bart, I think things (on PEEL) that I would never say (on Facebook).

This made me laugh so hard for some reason.

I believe TMC already won POTM recently, but I feel that this is an excellent post, nevertheless;
It's not that we want there to only be a few posters, it's that we don't want the place to devolve into a massive wasteland of posts that require zero mental engagement to generate or to understand and appreciate.

In the (near) future universe of Ender's Game, Orson Scott Card had a vision of the internet as an important place, where intelligent people would discuss things using clear, intelligent posts. Those who had something somewhat interesting to say would be encouraged and paid attention to on worthwhile websites. Those who were basically background noise would not.

Let's consider the actions of the staff here to be in that general spirit. Don't write a post because you feel like posting. Write a post that you think intelligent people might actually be interested in reading.

In the case of this thread, there are rules in place that require participants to make their guesses based on at least a little thought and knowledge of Futurama. We ENJOY it when people actually discuss the show and the characters, rather than spew one-word posts out of their internet-holes like simpletons with internet-diarrhea.

In short - people are welcome to post in this thread and on many other parts of PEEL if they are capable of shaping and sharing coherent thoughts that might generate meaningful discussion.

I know that it's gauche to quote oneself in this thread, but since I'm ineligible for actual POTM consideration for a good while, let me just put this here. It encapsulates a lot of my PEEL philosophy.

I won't hold a grudge against you for complimenting me slightly faster than I complimented myself  ;)

As an aside, I feel it's worth mentioning that the quoted post also happens to compliment all of the Peelers who contribute posts worth reading on this board on a regular basis. You guys are why I bother to take an active role in this board, rather than skim and move on, like I do on fark and reddit and other sites.

From now on, I'll be sharing my Futurama fan dom with my wife.

You have a Futurama fan dominatrix whom you share with your wife? Kinky, Kurt. If you'd only let us know more about your sex life and less about your bizarre theories and ideas for fanfictions that verge on what Futurama must be like in a universe where it sucked as completely as possible but inexplicably stayed on the air, people would probably have been friendlier.

I don't really care to venture an opinion on episode quality right now. I just want to say that I find the acronymization of episode names cumbersome. I like this show. I've watched all the episodes. I own the DVDs. I do not have every episode title memorized so thoroughly that I see "APTR" without any context and immediately think "A Pharaoh To Remember".

It's one thing if the episode in question has already been identified earlier in the post, or in the posts immediately preceding it, but who has time to memorize all of the following to the point where you instantly know what each one means, including variations on capitalization/inclusion of small words like "of" or "the"?

SPT, TSHL, IR, LLLIS, FOABP, AFOD, MTS, ABPOG, HIOR, AFTR, MU, WAA, FATSF, ISTE, BBA, AHITP, XS, WMIBACIL, TLOTE, PYHOMS, RB, ABBFT, ACOMO, HHRHGB, TDS, BGM, MD, TPWP, AOI1, WITHW, TH, TCW, AWITM, PL, ATOTS, TLOTF, TBOIC, BL, TDTESS, TL, TCHR, WTBR, IITM, TROAE, BITW, TKOS, IDAR, ALOHO, APTR, AOI2, RTEW, G, FS, TTPIC, KGKUAN, LH, LAR, LTH, ATOF, BSNBAOT, JB, COTH, TMLH, TWOF, WNFHGB, TS, BH, OF, TFP, THBB, SF, TDHAIP, BBS1, BBS2, BBS3, BBS4, TBWABB1, TBWABB2, TBWABB3, TBWABB4, BG1, BG2, BG3, BG4, ITWGY1, ITWGY2, ITWGY3, ITWGY4, R, IAGDL, AOTKA, PI, TDVC, LI, TLPJF, TDK, ACO, TPOB, LN, TMAR, TFHS, TSOTC, MD, LAO, B, TTOTZ, GITM, N, YLL, FATEM, ATPH, CW, O, R, TBATB, AFTA, DT, TTOB, ZD, TBE, TSMDM, FOAB, FWH, NDW, TCF, VMV, N, FPL, TDB, TTT, FALBF, TIT, SMFP, CT, ACH, LATG, GOT, MOTPE, SAS, M?

Never; it's a different clock.

A cock clock?
I'm having issues coming up with a female version- clam clock doesn't have the same ring to it.

Whatever it is, it takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

How about cooch-oo clock? Oh, that is just trite. Never mind. (I hope it catches on!)

Abraham Lincoln invented Lincoln Logs, and became America's greatest President. He had to overcome a number of hardships as a child. For example, Lincoln's mother died in infancy, and he was born in a log cabin which he built with his own hands (see picture). When Lincoln was President, he wore only a tall silk hat (picture unavailable).

By going to war with South America, Lincoln saved the USA from slavery. This led to him writing the Gettysburg Address while travelling to Gettysburg on the back of an envelope. He also freed the slaves and wrote the Fourteenth Amendment to give ex-negroes citizenship.

On the night of April 14, 1955, Lincoln went to the theater and was shot from the Texas Book Depository by John Wilkes Booth, one of the actors in the film. This ended Booth's career as an actor.

Lincoln's life and motivations are explored in the documentary film "Abraham Lincoln; Vampire Hunter". Because it is based on a true story about a real person it is a good source for historians who want to learn more about the period.

Doublepost, and I'm not even sorry.

Anyway, my rant is not from the parent contacting me. I appreciate when parents check in from time to time. My problem is with parents who don't want to discipline, be their child's friend, and then expect others to pick up the slack.

Parenting shouldn't be a cake walk, sometimes people are going to have to play bad cop with their kids, but that's what they signed up for. I didn't. I only signed up for fostering a love of learning! That, and I really wanted to get more girls interested in STEM careers.

Well you know the saying, "It takes a village to raise your shitbag child".
