I've tried the auto-rescale thing before. Neat feature. Now trying to see if animated gifs work, which it seems otherwise.


Just found out that it also auto-corrects the extension. Seems the only limits I could figure were animation and file size (original NPH avatar was 308 KB, one upload was 40 KB).

Separate actual complaint:

In the funny pictures thread of Off-Topic, a picture of four men with their penises outlined through their pants and an animated penis were posted and not pulled off. However, images of females breasts have been pulled off except for an animated version of nipples (and very boyish ones at that). Many of us are wondering why penises are acceptable but female breasts are not.

Tons of posts got deleted. They showcase exactly how PEEL deals with trolls. I think they should be restored in their own thread. Spiff should also be given a slap round the chops for making the fake troll, and Winna should be given a commendation for having nothing to do with it.

I always liked the philosophy of the former forum I went to, GTAForums, which deleted no posts.  They were either archived or just saved.  The reasoning?  So the staff would have something to blackmail them with later.

Despite the fakeness of the recent troll, I wholeheartedly agree with TNUK's sentiment about the ability of PEELers to deal with the situation.

Also, Books has a nice point there about the deleting, the southern hemisphere deserves better.

Not only that.  If you really want to explain to people later on why someone was banned (even to yourself), then deleting their posts might not be such a good idea.

In addition, it suddenly makes a thread or topic seem awfully out of touch with itself.  You are cutting its thread.  Which sort of makes a point of calling it a thread.

You cannot cut out parts of a thread and assume it'll still hold your sails!

I think we should focus on banning young upstarts who make false aligations against their seniors in a vain attempt to get them banned as well as spewing profanity at them. Seriously I'm not one to call for a banning but in my day we respected our elders not curse at them and call them bigots simply for having a different set of values, perhap giving Coldangel a timeout would help him to take a good look at himself as well as set an example to the younger pups on here.

In slightly more relevant news: I don't think excessive banning is necessarily a way to curb the creation of fake accounts and the constant spamming by the afore-mentioned phonies--even if you're banning the "real" user who created the fake account. A banned legitimate user can still create fake accounts and continue posting at PEEL, right? I mean, I'm not entirely sure of how banning works, seeing as how I've never had the pleasure of undergoing one myself, but I thought there were problems in the past with banned users creating second accounts and spamming PEEL up. So it's basically a viscious cycle, no?

I have two responses to your theory, Gorky:
1. There have been joint venture fake accounts between a few PEELers before, and in those instances the fake accounts were banned. Most of the time they were one-shot joke accounts, like Dickhäuter, and the account's password was shared on #fc so anybody could use it and claim it as their own, so banning the "maker" of the account had no standing to get rid of the actual offense.

2. Some of the time a member who's banned and forgotten or wants back in will then create a second account. Prime example is Punching Bag, which was TheLampIncident's second account.


Thusly, the answer is getting rid of the account, not the user.

Really, PEEL could do with a Ball Pit like unPEEL, to which moderators could restrict accounts as and when they proved to be troublesome. The Ball Pit could be automatically deleted every 30 days to keep server load down, and needn't be read by anybody who wanted to preserve their sanity.

It would likely prove better in retaining those who were banned and would likely never return. They would still be removed from the rest of the community but be able to still be apart of it and stick around until their ban on PEEL proper has been lifted. Perhaps even the Ball Pit could be combined with the ρ-Rated Forum idea; in this way, all content which requires a warning, whether crude, rude, or absurd, can be placed in one location alone and be deleted after a certain amount of time without objection, which sometimes is the case when the content is found on PEEL currently.

Unless you're still playing at fake provocateur, your 'values', Spiff, are as antiquated and inappropriate as, say, women not having the right to vote and white man being allowed to keep black men as slaves. That doesn't fall under the umbrella of a 'free exchange of ideas', it's a violation of human rights and dignity.
And if you are still playing a game, you're a complete dick.
