I'm being pursued from thread to thread by a vengeful Bend-err for some half-imagined slight. :hmpf: Not so much a complaint as a note for future editions of PEEL: make sure that next time Bend-err gets redirected to 4Chan whenever he logs in. :p

That's not needed, he probably already has a tab to that or other even worse places opened at all times. ;)
You seem to be missing the point of redirecting him away from PEEL. :nono:

Do they teach Canadians how to think like humans when they go recruiting them from the mooseherds, or not?

When using Chrome for Linux (version: 5.0.342.9 beta), middle-clicking the board names from the PEEL front page opens in a new tab (expected) but also opens the board in the same window. This doesn't happen on Firefox (3.5.9).

If you right-click and "open in new tab", things work as expected.

Sounds like a client-side problem if right-clicking works and middle-clicking does not.

Generally, there is no button-specific code for the board links. The middle click seems to trigger both the normal link for the board name and the "onclick" event for the table cell that the board name is in. As long as all the other browsers are fine with these two links, I don't think there will be a change on the server side.

This is an issue I have noticed with Chrome and Opera on several sites.  I find it hard to imagine that Google or those Norwegians cannot figure out how to code a middle mouse button click event.  Woah.

mArc has a point, middle click should ignore any javascript tied to the link.  And if it should react, then it should transfer the results to the new tab and leave the former tab 'unchanged'.

It seems like we have another problem of width due to names:
http://www.peelified.com/Futurama-Forum-1/Topic-18829-0-What_are_you_doing_June_t.html
Both the original poster (dirt_doesnt_need_luck) and replier #34 (TheheadlessbodyofAgnew) have names so long that they mess with the (sorry not to use technical terms) left side profile width. Is there a name length limit on PEEL?

I can't remember the name, but there's another poster with a long ass name that messes with the left side width; the general consensus was people thought it was "cool"...

Thing is I wanted an 's' at the end of my name but I registered during the 2008 PEELocalypse and old PEEL wouldn't let me, and now they just sign up with enormous names. It's not FAIR!

I remember that there was a limit on Old PEEL, but it seems like there isn't anymore. And I remember during the PEEL 2 testing that that was one of the issues we had found with the new system. I'm just wondering why we didn't keep the character limit.

I like the singular in your name. It sounds like it's plural despite the lack of an "s". Plus, more characters makes your name a smaller font. Compare mine to yours or TheheadlessbodyofAgnew's. Look on my name, ye Sharky, and despair!

Apparently PEEL will not let me Report to moderator a post made by 'winna' in a thread that I found to be rather offensive.

Yeah, I think PEEL's not set up to report a post made by yourself to the moderator.  There's a certain method to it's madness...

If you're really nice to [-mArc-] and email him, he might fix your username or allow you to reregister and transfer your postcount and post history across.

Any chance of fixing the links in the sticky at the top of Re-Check/Weird Scenes? Seems rather unprofessional, and we wouldn't want that now would we?

What is with locking the sticky threads? Unstickify them and then lock it! There is one of these in the Recheck Weird scenes forum. It seems pointless that a locked thread is appearing on the top when it was closed from 2005

I agree with Nixorbo.  There was definitely a reason that thread was stickied.  I don't necessarily see a problem with it being unlocked though.... although that's debateable in and of itself.

A certain member here seems to have gotten my brother banned already, for pointing out that he can dish up the internet badassness but can't take it.  Posts were erased, his account is locked out.  Sucks I have to apologize for using  the same IP since we live in the same house and use the same router and internet service.  I really would never want another account, I'm SpaceMaN and always will be, it's just that I told my brother about the deathpool and he wanted to join in, so he registered.  If it's that big a deal to everyone I won't even pick in the deathpool so everyone will be happy it's only one set from this IP.  It also sucks that because he only had a couple posts, said member feels he doesn't have to respect him.

Nobody has a problem with you and your brother playing the deathpool off the same ip.  Well... I have a problem with the deathpool, but that doesn't actually matter.  We have fake account witch hunts every 35 weeks, and your brother just happened to get picked up.

Although, to be fair, from seeing the original posts, the way he was behaving was rather indicative presumptuously of that of a fake account even if totalnerduk was being rather paranoid.  We're all actually rather paranoid.... just consider it a misunderstanding.

I'm pretty certain that an email to mArc explaining that you and your brother are using the same ip will get his account unbanned and allow you to both play the deaththread or whatever it is thread;  that is if your brother still wants to play after getting banned.  Getting banned never stopped me from anything if that helps. :)

As the posts are gone and I never saw them, I can't say whether it was insulting or not, but tnuk has been extra bitchy lately for whatever reason, evidence of that in the deathpool thread.  I don't really mind, I'll post his deathpool picks anyway, just thought it was a little shady to be so hasty on the banning.  I'll email marc anyway and explain, if he sees the banning as fit, so be it.  Yes, my brother is an asshole, and that will come through on the board I'm sure, but so is tnuk, and yes, don't dish it out if you can't take it.

The posts weren't that bad.  Tnuk was paranoid that it was somebody else, and he has good enough reason to be paranoid like that.  Needless to say, somebody (probably mArc) got notified, and there's a zero tolerance for fake accounts policy on PEEL.... so multiple ips that are exactly the same got the latter account banned.  mArc has pretty much stated that he doesn't have a problem with families having multiple accounts from the same ip address, so he probably won't have a problem unbanning your brother.

See... misunderstanding.  Most new members don't magically find PEEL to start playing a deathpool game and then point out the obvious that somebody is being bitchy.... most of them don't anyways.

Also, for the record, it's not so much that tnuk can't take what he dishes out, or even that he was being overly bitchy; if he'd have known it was your brother he probably wouldn't have cared in the first place.

said member feels he doesn't have to respect him.

I respect the guy who built the Killdozer.

That's pretty much the end of the list. PEEL n00bs gets the same amount of respect I have for any human being.

Yeah, I should probably point out that if I'd known the guy was your brother instead of the mystery person who has been hacking my email, PEEL account, and other stuff, then I would have been nicer. A little nicer.

It's not that I can dish it out but not take it, rather it's that I didn't want to become embroiled in a pointless flamewar. Hell, when he comes back he can insult me for free if he's butthurt. I'll let him have one snide remark on the house. After that, I'll treat him like he's BirthdayClown if he so much as looks at me funny. :p

But seriously, I'll be nice to him when he comes back.

When I'm using the full editor to reply to a post, once my ramblings get below the end of the box you type it in, it automatically scrolls up while I continue typing.

I can deal with it, but it's really a pain when trying to quote someone's posts.  Does this happen to anyone else?

At least it's not just me, I guess.

SoS, try quoting the Deathpool list I put up.  I had to copy-paste and put it in notepad to finish it, the auto scroll crap sucked so bad.

In Chrome and Chromium, you can expand text boxes to any size you want, if that helps any. I typically go with the editor trick, though. That way I have a backup of anything important I post.

In case it gets vaporized... :shifty:
