Shippy to the power of color, squared: Don't you just love my weird names for your pictures? Anyways, I love it! I give it 5 lovey faces-  That's alot of love! Like Zmithy said, I love the textures! I especially loved the moon and the dark green edges around the leaves of a flower. The characters are spot on. But once again, it's the small touches that really make it a masterpiece. I especially love the moss growing between the sidewalk and the building. Very true to life, as is the drying grass, appropiate to a chilly fall evening. Inshort, definitely one of your best works.

P.S. You don't see the Zapp head? It looks like someone started drawing him, but only got to the head, then erased. I only noticed it when looking at the computer from a different angle. That would be a very cool idea, though. Blood dripping off the sword, Zapps head sliced cleanly off his body, the Nimbus crew, save Kif, dancing in the background. Cool, but kinda gorey. Heh heh.

Zmithy, you have a good eye! Those are indeed the same earrings. I didn't feel like making new ones...also, glad you (and others) liked the colours, it's supposed to be early autumn.

Procyon, gotta love your detailed reviews    I'm also glad all of you liked the textures, at first I felt like I was somewhat cheating. So thanks!
Btw, I just got what you saying about Zapp's head!  I had some Zapp doodles on the other side of the paper, and this one shows through 'cause I inked him! Haha. (I should actually fix that...)

But, really strangely as it seems, I have more! These were all done this evening when I should've been studying for a Latin exam, so I'm just gonna throw them in. And I know, I know, I'm drowning you all in sketches...I should maybe one day try inking and colouring sans computer...

Inexorable law of exams:

People do their best creative work when they should be studying for them. 

It goes hand in hand with Heisenberg’s procrastination principle.

This stuff is great, Asa.  I find the fact that people have this kind of talent with a pencil simply amazing.  For that reason, I think I like the sketches more than the finished art; there's a lot more personality in them.  For some other reason, I really like how you drew Amy in the beach picture, and the Chibi one is cute too... especially Leela’s big little boots.

Now, off to take an exam...

The first one of Amy is very well done, but (forgive me if this is lewd) I am having issues with her pubic region. It seems rather... large.

The beach one is absolutely adorable (I think Leela looks good...) but the chibi one is my favorite. *squee!* I'm all excited.

Fantastic as usual, AsaB! Amy's face in the first one is beautiful. The protruding hip bone is nice, too. I vote more red pencil! I spent far too long staring at Leela's bum in that swimsuit. The slightly misshapen beach ball is strangely cute to me, even if it doesn't turn out that way in the colored version (if there is a colored version coming, that is). The look on Leela's face in the third one is great, too. Such... organic-looking emotion. You're good at faces. And, like, everything else. Fry and Leela are both so childishly cute in that last one.. I want to squish them! With loooove.

Sorry I'm taking so long to finish my parody thing (she asked, skimmers!). Writer's block, or something. Every time I sit down to work on it, I get distracted by a fruit fly, or a flashing VCR clock, or the fact that people are throwing stuff at me. I'll get it done someday.

They just keep getting better! Hooray for the return of the red pencil! I like how the different colours (intentionally or not) convey different moods in your drawings... For example, if you had drawn it in blue, it would look much more calm. Teh powerful. Amy's hair in that second one looks probably exactly like it would in real life, and of course the subject matter is just too cute! I adore the third one- shots where the characters are rapidly moving always seem to be the heardest for me, and that looks positively perfect.

And the chibi one...  *explodes in a graphic mist of flesh and blood from extreme cuteness overload*

Fantastic. I was going to skip the long review today, but that would just so be unlike me. So, here we go:

Hey, I'm not a prostitute!: The red is just perfect. Amy always had a little fiestyness and definace in her. And don't worry about the legs. Maybe she's wearing platforms. I love the collar bone (it gives her a more life-like quality) and her eyes/eyebrows. Those eyes are just so perfect for her face shape, and the eyebrows show an expression of resentment and a little I'm-better-than-you. Perfect for Amy.

Beach Ball Babes: I love this one! Amy looks very true to the show, but still has her own personal flair. She looks irritated that someone ruined their volleyball game. Leela looks a lot like your opera Leela, only she's been flipping her hair alot. I personally love her big eye, as well as the little wrinkle in her bathing suit. The only thing I have a teensy problem with is her hand. It seems kinda big for her body in this pic. *cue in clip from high Lrr in The Problem with Popplers*

Road Runner Fry: Why did I call it this you ask? Well, it looks like their on a cliff, and Wile E. Coyote was always running past them, then falling among whistles and giant poofs. I can definitely picture Fry doing this. Leela is spot on ( I especially love her bangs flying up a bit) but I have some issues with Fry. He seems a little out of poportion to me. My main problem is his legs. They just don't seem right. Neither does his hair or something. HIs face just looks to big. But still, these sketches are simply wonderful. Considering these are unphotoshopped and little procrastinating doodles, this is top notch work. I would recommend doing this in dark purple. (I don't know why, but purple just seems to fit their expression.)

*Explodes before she can think of a name* Ok, you know that pair will take over the world. They're just so freaking adorable All world leaders will bow to them, then they shall turn evil and Earth will fall under a dark reign. Seriously, Asa, I love this piece. Plus, the way they're drawn fits their personality. For instance, they way thier smiling. You don't see Leela smile much with her teeth, but Fry does. I love chibi Fry. He is mt favorite character, and his cuteness factor has just quadrupled.

That took so much time to write, but I actually enjoyed it. I hope you have more exams in the future!

And Leela's hand might be wee too big in the seoncd, that's a good point.
And the Road Runner pic. (Good title!) I personally have heaps of problems with Fry in that one, I could never get him to look right (Leela also rather weird), wasn't even sure to post that pic. So all of your crits there are fair and I'm keeping them in mind!
And god. That whole notion of chibi Fry and Leela ruling the world is so absurd it had me in stitches! And I'm also sorry I made you explode...that wasn't really the purpose of the pic, I swear!


Alrighty, with that done, I'm just letting you all know that another pic is in the works. But it's still in its sketch stage. Dang pose is sort of annoying and it's taking me forever. Oh well. My bed is looking strangely tempting at the moment...

And here's a tango pic that I mentioned in the interview. No, don't ask me how I came up with it, my mind has a mind of its own. There are certain things about it that annoy me (Leela's face) but this is as good as it gets:

And I thought it'd be rather empty with just this one pic, so I scanned two random little doodles from my schoolbook. Behold:



These are two separate images, but when I see how it'll look on the page, it almost fits--as if regular Leela is about to shoot ancient Zapp. But it also looks as if can't handle gun, about to drop it or something. Hm.

And since I'm leaving for France tomorrow night, I won't be seeing you around the next two weeks. Till then!

But more importantly, since Futurama is a comedy ( ), I like how Zapp is basically copping a feel while “valiantly” pushing Leela out of the way.

However, if you really want to get in the tango mood, I suggest you listen to Luz Casal's Un año de amor....Spanish...tango...romance...*snaps out of it* Yes!
