I get into a lot of arguments about how the Master is the hero of the show.

Matt Smith announces he is to leave Doctor Who

Come Xmas Day, we'll have Doctor No.12. Or No.13. Depends if John Hurt counts.

I heard about that just a few minutes ago. Many are wondering who will be taking Matt Smith's place now. I'm hearing a lot about a woman possibly playing the Doctor.

The Doctor should regenerate into a bear. Then he should go on a mauling spree throughout time and space, before finally being placated with a large, fresh, salmon.

No. We most certainly don't. It should be a male bear with deep seated misogynist and homophobic issues, who is a perfect specimen of physical fitness and looks down on those who aren't. It should also be extremely dismissive of the TARDIS's feelings.

Then that bear should regenerate into Tom Baker.

"Jellybabies" in German are called "Gummibärchen", which basically means "Jelly BEARS".
Had they used the German language for Doctor Who (which would not have been too difficult, as even Monty Python managed to conjure up three appropriate episodes), I could have made an obvious and appropriate joke about a bear and Tom Baker.
But yet, as the producers took the easy way by sticking to their English mother tongue, Peel will be deprived of said joke.
Though I suspect the Doctor Who writers can live with "some random idiot on the internet not being able to make an idiotic joke about Doctor Who, Tom Baker, Jellybabies and a bear".

I know tnuk quoted it in the POTM thread but ^that^ deserves recognition in the same thread.

Also, the press mention the possibility of a female Doctor EVERY... BLOODY... TIME!!!. It's getting boring. I think the headline "NEXT DOCTOR LIKELY TO BE MALE" would actually be more surprising.

Favourite is Peter Capaldi, have started to warm to the idea of him becoming the Doctor, so don't mind if thats the case.

Will find out soon enough now anyhow

I like him too much as an actor to get my hopes up. I'll be really pleased if he is the next, so fuck the press if they're throwing a curve ball.

I'd enjoy it if Peter Capaldi's the next Doctor, too, but since I don't know much of anything about Daniel Rigby, I can't really be opposed to him either.

What, another one? But they just did this, like, three years ago! Couldn't they have auditioned something weird, like babies, for the part? "I'd... I'd just like to watch an infant in one of television's leading roles!", M0le explains to everyone in a reassuring, uncreepy manner.

I like Capaldi, but is curly hair disproportionally overrepresented by the Doctor's regenerations? Discuss.

I believe he'll be appearing in the 50th Anniversary. John Hurt as I read is the gap between the 8th doctor and the 9th.

The only time I've ever seen John Hurt on screen was in a scene where he was giving birth, so to speak...

I've not yet had the pleasure of seeing any of Mr. Capaldi's work.

^ If you saw the episode of Doctor Who "The Fires of Pompeii," Peter Capaldi was the father (Although I can't remember the name if his character) of the family.

Thanks for the tip!  I *did* see The Fires of Pompeii (one of the few modern Who eps I've seen) but it was so long ago I that can't recall any detail.
