Why do I know who she is, but nobody else seems to? (All eyes are on him) Uh, did I say that? (runs) I was kidding about the running, I've no idea if she wants to be revealed so I won't tell.

True, but I want to reinvent myself. I've been passive in the past and regret a lot of the things I did. That's why I want to change from being a cowering little girl to a fully opinionated, independant woman. I'm not doing it because any one wants me to, I'm doing it for me. And while some don't like my changing, it's important that it happen, even if not everyone agrees. It's like asking, "Is a caterpillar better off being a butterfly?" Not everyone's going to think the same way. However, I think it's a change for the better and will prove helpful as I enter my second year of high school. To relate it to my screenname, I'm going from being a Lila to the girl who both loves and hates her beloved football-headed hero. FYI- My favorite teacher told me that everyone changes a lot after their freshman year. Obviously, I'm no different. ------------------ "Oh, Arnold...Oh, pastrami..."

That's all well and good, but it seems you're only changing your on-line persona. In a way, I can understand. It's like going to a big city and telling everyone that your name is Michael for example. As Michael, I'm free to be who I want. Two things though, if anyone finds out your true name, people will think you a liar. Second, you may not like the person you become. You don't need to change your name to change who you are. If you truly want to change, you can.
Besides, *I* know who you are and so does Kryten. If you want to get a fresh start, why do you give clues to your real "identity"?
But whatever you what, it is up to you.

I think the reason I've been dropping hints is because like Bender, I want to know if I'm remembered. Selfish, yes, I know. But hey, it's fun. As for a transformation outside the little square sitting on my desk, it's obviously not going to be easy to see here. Honestly, no one *really* knows me. So technically, while some of my persona is reflected in my form of speech/writing, it won't be as obvious as it is to those I see each day because they know sides of me that I don't reveal to everyone else. Anyway, to stay on topic: Uh, um...it should be left to our imaginations what happens with Fry and Leela. I don't want a great show to be spoiled by a relationship that's only one part of it.

I guess I'll add to it then. Well, I don't want one of those "Oh, everything's perfect" endings with them getting married and the Professor dying or whatnot. I'd actually lean toward an ending like the resolution Richie and Margot come to in one of my favorite films, The Royal Tenenbaums. If you plan on seeing the film but haven't, I suggest disregarding this post as it ruins a plot line. *If you recall the scene after Richie gets out of the hospital, he returns to the Tenenbaum house and finds Margot in his tent. As they sit there together, listening to the Rolling Stones, he says, "I have to tell you something. I love you." She replies with a *bittersweet* "I love you too." After some kissing and small talk, Margot exits the tent, but not before telling him, "I think we're just going to have to be secretly in love with each other and leave it at that." Richie doesn't reply. There's no major inidication in the film of things going either way and the only other scenes I can think of to even hint at what happens are them smoking Margot's stale cigarettes and them sharing the umbrella at Royal's funeral. While some may say this "ends like a terminus", I disagree. I believe it allows the viewer to make an inference of how things worked out. Even if they did carry on some sort of secret relationship, the audience knows that they care for each other, which was a main point of the movie. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I would be pleased with an ending where the audiences knows both Leela and Fry care for each other and so do they. I believe that if there were to be more seasons, their relationship would evolve into a romantic one. However, I think many realize that especially in the fourth season (production-wise) their friendship is already changing. I honestly think it would eventually lead down that "relationship" road, but I guess the world may never know. However, that doesn't mean we can't keep writing and drawing how we think things should end!

I don't think it would have to be too much different if they got together. There are plenty of existing episodes that would be basically the same no matter what the state of their relationship. If they were together, you'd lose episodes about Fry trying to win Leela's heart or about Leela dating someone else, but there really haven't been too many like that. I think that since the romance subplot is there, it needs to be resolved. Otherwise it'd drag out forever and end up being meaningless. Fry and Leela would have more sentimental moments (The show already has enough of them!) and they'd probably be together all the time (like how Kif and Amy are usually together) and Bender would be overshadowed by the cute couple. Don't you think a show would focus more on the main couple than other characters? And Fry and Leela would lose that great friendship dynamic they have. It would just be too different. I want them to get together, but not until the last episode.

Third-page (or so) flame-thrower duels aside for the moment, there has been a lot of original thinking and sensible analysis here. I don't think I've anything to add that hasn't been said already, save this: In television series writing, nothing is more dangerous than change. It's like juggling live grenades: You can do it, but if you don't do it just so, it can blow up in your face. Alas, certain Fux executives have rendered the whole discussion academic- Curse their obdurate souls!

I think that Fry and Leela can be together, but only between the episodes. Seriously, think about that, if they were together they couldn't fall in love with some weird alien or something like that. Also there could be not more episodes about Fry's desperate, hilarious attempts to win Leela's heart. Climbing a mountain is fun, but once your're there it becomes boring. And who wants to turn Futurama into some boring soapopera....
