This is going to be really embarrassing for me to admit, but not as embarrassed as I feel seeing those threads I made but...

Basically when I made them, I was going through a massive mental health crisis.  Several important people in my life had passed away recently, and they coincided with the anniversaries of the deaths of several other important people.  Combine that with lockdown, when I felt the weight of the loss of all those people more then ever, and my mental health plummeted.  If those posts and threads feel deranged to you, it's because I was.   I was extremely mentally unwell for a long period during lockdown.

When my mental health eventually stabilized, I was extremely shocked and humiliated when I remembered the erratic, barely coherent, rambling posts I made when I wasn't myself, which is why I didn't post here again for an extremely long time.  I tried to delete the threads, but I couldn't figure out how to do it, and was hoping people would have just forgotten them.    To say I feel humiliated over the nonsense my brain was churning out when I was extremely unwell is an understatement for sure.   If I'm honest, I defiantly wasn't sure about coming back here when the revival started airing, because of how ashamed I felt about all the nutcase posts I made.

Oof, SpaceGoldfish. I'm sorry you had to go through all that, but happy to hear that you're in a better place now (and also happy that you've returned to PEEL!).

If it's any consolation, I think I speak for everyone when I say that we didn't mind your "deranged" posts—in fact, that's why we loved you. But I'm certainly happy to remove my nominations in the "Worst Thread" and "Biggest Crackpot" categories if you'd rather not be considered for those awards.

Oh no, I mean, what better nominations for "Biggest Crackpot" then someone who was genuinely deranged?   The whole crazy episode is still a bit of a sore spot for me, but then again making a few unhinged posts on a Futurama fan forum isn't the end of the world, especially when you can consider what other people get up to when they have mental health episodes.   I just wanted to make it known that the posts I made back then are not who I am as a person.  Well, actually they probably are, but I do a much better job of hiding it.

For record, if you wish to have a topic deleted, it can be discussed.  Only mods and administrators can delete topics.  I recognise my nomination might seem a little out of touch given the last previous three posts, but I simply cannot stand idly by when I finally encounter someone else doubles-spacing after sentences.  It's everyone who doesn't, who is a crackpot.

Very sorry to hear what you went through, Spacefish, and very happy you're feeling more yourself. I don't care if it's trite when I say Peelers are family. It's true. Also, welcome back!

That's how I learned to type, and it was a clear signature of my writing forever. Until Peel, when I learned that it seems odd to many people, so I eventually gave it up.

For what it's worth Spacefish, I actually kind of enjoyed those threads, especially the one about Ruth and Esther. Writing an essay dedicated to a pair of extremely minor characters is an impressive feat, regardless of how embarrassing it may be.

Thank you guys, this makes me feel much better about me going all nutterbutters on here, and I guess we are family, that is true Tachyon!   And since I'm laying all my cards on the table at this point, want to know something even more embarassing, UnrealLegend?  I actually started writing some fanfic, sorry fan screenplays (which is totally different, totally different) where Ruth and Esther join the PE crew.  I'm having a lot of fun expanding their personalities, coming up with different outfits for them to wear, imagining what roles they have and how they interact with the main characters and so forth.   For example, I'm basing a lot of Ruth's expanded personality off Lisa from my Cousin Vinnie.    One of the episodes I'm writing is a sequel to Bender's Game, where they play the roles of Esther Evenstar, the lady of Rivitdell, and her slutty "handmaiden" Ruthien Tinuviel.

SpaceGoldfish, I'm so sorry if this thread was emotionally upsetting for you. None of us were intentionally being malicious. From what I've read, I like and respect you a lot as a person, and I've genuinely enjoyed reading your theories about Fry and a couple of the more niche characters and never once meant it in a bad way. You simply have a very unique perspective on some of the characters and their relationships. We're all mad here-- we are all crackpots to some degree if we're still posting on a >20-year-old forum about a >20-year-old show.
