Oooh Time for the Final solution Again But They are always noobs that come with bad habits. They shape up. PEEL was probably linked to another message board again.

I think the best way to solve this problem is if we all get together with a rousing chorus of "Nobody cares! Nobody Cares! Nobody, nobody, nobody caaaares!" See the Anthology of Interest II (i think) commentary if you have no idea what I am talking about.

The term n00b orignally comes from newbie. Which means you are new. You joined in February 2004 and compared to most regulars on this board you are still new. As am I. Stop obsessing over this and start posting things of quality and you will be accepted.

I don't know if i put it on the FAQ, but n00bs are often "identified" by three critera: Registration Date Post Number Overall PEELer Competence Basically, if you're new, have few posts or act like a total git, you'll be called a n00b. If you don't know what is considered basic info by that PEELer they may call you a n00b. The term n00b isn't really defined, it's more of what each person considers it to be.

Bending Unit is great and all, but Asylum-Fry got that in, what, 3 hours? The term 'n00b' is subjective, and the fact that futuramafreak (whose messages I keep clicking on expecting to see a post by Randi) has only been here two months and keeps asking ridiculous questions/opening up threads is more than a little bit wavering on the 'n00b' side to me. You cant just Be a noob man. Its totally a state of mind

I also like to complain. About the weather, and about people having the same avatar.

I think it's a combination of competence and attitude, although attitude is usually a worse problem.
From the perspective of competence, some people join up not having a clue how a message board works, which leads to rookie mistakes like double posting and "question" threads (What do those stars mean, how do I change my avatar etc). But once they're been here a few weeks, they pick stuff up and these rookie mistakes gradually disappear.
But a lot of people join PEEL with an attitude problem. So paraphrase a recent post, they think they're God's gift to the board, and can't understand why the eight threads they've just opened have all been closed. So they open more threads asking why the originals were closed, leaning on the Caps Lock and using "finger" smilies to emphasise their point.
Then there's the SuperFry types who ignore any form of advice/criticism, and can linger for months acting like someone who's only been here a week.
In all the above cases, the people involved should've lurked longer before becoming an active member. I freely admit that I should've lurked for at least another few weeks before I registered, it might've saved a lot of hassle.
Also high on the list are the people that join PEEL with an "agenda". You'll got the nOObs who have the latest foolproof method of getting Futurama recommissioned, and seem oblivious to everyone else's lack of enthusiasm. And you have the Alan Cresswell type who don't actually give a shit about Futurama, they just want to push their own pet topics.

@ pcc fred.
Do you ever stop bitching?
I've only been here for 2months and I still feel like zoidberg, ignored....
As for the n00bs, I find the ones who are obviously not good at this net malarky are the ones that get screamed at, maybe there should be a set of rules of etiquette? A better bedside manner from the mods and experienced users as I find its usually there arrogence which causes flame wars rather than sensible disagreement or a friendly wave in the right direction. I remember getting banned last year because of some arse being a tit, fair enough I should've read the rules but some friendly advice wouldn't have gone amiss. So now I know not to create pointless threads and to spam no matter how tempting.
Even now I'm going off topic so my complaint? Some manners from various users with regards to "n00bs" please.
