New Complaint: People whos acoounts have not been used for 6 months (or whatever) should be e-mailed to notify them of such matters, at which point they can confirm that they want to keep it.  If they say no or don't reply, their account should be deleted, because they're just a waste of space.

Allready been sugested several times, and turned down by mArc each time. The dead accounts doesn't take up any space or resources as such since they're just static information in the database, and sometimes people make a return after several years, like Spice Weasel and Torquemada. They might be a bit upset if their account was simply deleted.

Besides, having all those spare accounts makes us look bigger and more fearsome than we actually are. RAWR!!

My complaint is that i don't know what it means to bump a thread.

It means to find an old thread that haven't been posted in for months and making a new post, thus bring it to the top of the forum list. If the post is a worthwhile contribution to the conversation people will laud you, if it's a meaningless "Lol", "me 2" or "I agree" they'll probably moan at you.

Bump is an acronym for bring up my post.

It means to post in an old thread, bringing the thread back up to the top of page one.

Talk about opening a Pandora's box. Have you looked at what Lrrr_2004 is doing in General Futurama Disscussion?

Well he's probably asking because of all the people telling him to "stop bumping old threads" because it's starting to piss some, by which I mean all, people off.

We're not saying don't bump threads at all, just don't bump defunct threads.  Like that one you bumped about that Katey Sagal show that got cancelled a couple of years ago.

It's from a graphic novel called Crumple, by Dave Cooper. For some reason you just reminded me of it...

Hi all,
I've been a bit out of the loop recently, so can someone please explain to me what the dealie is with all the death announcements turning out to be false?

Is there any way we can stop this? Maybe have admins remove such a post until it is verified.

Well, you can kill people, making the announcements true.

But the dealie started on April fools with someone saying Sarge died of a heart attack, and then a few days ago someone on futurama chat said that davierocks killed himself. Both of these weren't true. Fishy made a thread about him dying which wasn't true either.   :(   :p

I don't know what marc can do to stop it...  :hmpf:

One of the problems the second time is that we thought it had been confirmed, when somebody reputable "spoke" to Davie's sister, we didn't realise at the time that he'd spoken over MSN, not the phone as others assumed, the person who had started the story was the same person who had hacked Davie's sister's MSN so this confirmation was false.

And even then, sometimes it's okay if you have something really interesting to say, but if you just type something like "lol  :laff:", then we get annoyed.

Whenever i refresh the homepage it doesn't show new posts properly. Currently it's showing the above post as new for the past 10 reloads and the last 30 mins. My cookies are working fine though. Whenever a new post appears it'll stay as a new post on the main page now.

EDIT: And now it's fine, damn PEEL!

Who the hell sponsors this site anyway? I've been getting 40 billion pop-ups a second.

PEEL doesn't use pop-ups or sponsors, the board is financed by it's users/CGEF.

You've probably picked up some spyware/adware at some other site. It could also be Windows Messenger screwing with your PC, if you have it insalled.

Go to www.download.com,  and pick up Adaware 6.0.  Works wonders on spyware.

Yeah, the latest version labels all cookies as "tracking cookie". Pretty irritatng to shift through all the junk to find the ones you want to keep and put them as ignore.

Also pick up Spybot Search & Destroy, sometimes it find stuff Ad-Aware overlooked, and vice versa.

I actually already have a copy of Spybot, it works pretty well, but it causes other problems as well. My computer browses for about 50 different files and I have to hit cancel individually on each one whenever I restart(which is often because this computer freezes too much). Maybe I'll give it another run.

the really good thing about spybot that it comes with a link to another program (i think it's called spyblocker or something) that just blocks any spyware that wants to download itself on your comp...it doesn't delete spyware that you already have, but it blocks new one from coming  :)

I don't know if this is a complaint or not, but a former log in name doesn't work.
It always says i'm not logged in, then when I log in it'll say i'm logged in, but then it will take me directly to the registration page.

Does anyone know why?

P.S. This is my 100th post

You use two logons?

Well, i'd guess if you use a cookie to auto-logon to one, it'll interfere when trying to post with the other.

Simple: don't use two accounts. Chose one and stay with that one.

As aslate says, the cookies will interfere with eachother, unless you use the "remove all cookies set by this forum" link in "Preferences", before logging on with the second account.

Alternating between two accounts may confuse some people, and even make them suspicious and you would ultimately lose credibility in their eyes.

Congrats on being a Bending Unit.  :)

Thanks, I got that and it detected five or six things that ad aware had missed, I expect they'd been there for months, I'm glad to be rid of them  :)
