I'm sorry Beanoz, but seeing The Bird stop the ball from going out of bounds is amazing. This is better than your British TV Show TOTPD.

I'm more interested in the plots than the titles. It's been even longer since a new plot was revealed.

We haven't heard anything about plots since Comic-Con 2011. So yeah.

And Futurama Facebook has collected 20 million likes recently. Is this not a good reason to release a couple of promos?

Oh ffs, I am getting tired of these 'maybe the end episodes'.  It gives the show a weird sense of mini-series which does not suit the show.

That's the reason I want to see these two characters together:
The writers will have to come up with a NEW plot in the "Maybetheverylastepisodeeveran dthistimewemightpotentiallyac tuallymeanit" :p

I agree, by the 4th time around I can't consider it genuine anymore.

The only genuine ending of show to me was Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings. The ship was quite real, it was very emotional, and it wasn't all a joke that had been dragged through the mud like in recent seasons. I was a big shipper during the original run of Futurama, but after it came back (after BBS, pretty much) it all went down the crapper IMO. It's so...forced now. Too sitcomy. Lost its real emotional factor for me.

I think Yo Leela Leela will be one of those episodes that will probably be more popular as we get older.  The writers have admitted they wouldn't have written it ten years ago when most of them were single and didn't have children.  I'm the one of the few people who actually really liked the episode, because I can relate to it a lot: I have a lot of young children in my family and I do a lot of babysitting, and it's my ambition to be a children's book illustrator/author.

Yo Leela Leela basically had very Futurama-ish plot devices:

- Kidshow Puppets often look like little aliens. So, continuing that thought towards "Okay...let's assume they ARE little aliens" looks like a typical Futurama twist.
- Leela looking after the orphans is also in character.
- What I considered a well written development in season 6: Very little tomboyish activities by Leela, but rather jobs considered socially "appropriate for a grown-up, adult woman". Which delivered a credible development leading to the wish "to move on with her life" in "Overclockwise". So, Leela's Solo careere choice for that episode did also fit in an overall season 6B context.

Well..the basic plot devices were all okay. I think Yo, Leela , Leela suffered from looking toomuch like a kid show itself, instead of dealing with" the people creating a kid show".

Yeah. If they do another "ending" episode, they should be punished for it by having the show cancelled, all the licences revoked (so no more merch or comics, etc) and not being allowed to make any more DVDs.

That would ensure that the worth of the collectibles in the hands of PEELers would skyrocket, and that there would be no more false endings, giving us both a financial reward for following the show, and a sense of closure.

:p

I'd be sand if this happened. I'd prefer to have more Futurama. I just don't like having the reset button pushed after a faux-ending

I don't really mind these "maybe the series finale" epiosdes as long as they can consistently delivery something of high quality, and not just the same old thing.

A final episode that doesn't focus on Fly/Leela shippiness would be nice. I mean, the premise is more than suitable for a "maybe the series finale" episode, but they've done it three times already. Something entirely different would break that predictability.

He didn't say they were doing another "last episode ever, maybe" episode, just that they'd cracked the stories for the last two episodes of the show and that potentially these will be the last episodes ever because season 8 hasn't got a green light yet.

Knowing them, they probably will attempt a sort of works-as-a-finale-in-case-they-never-make-more episode but just look at it as a big sort of season finale episode instead of a show finale episode.

The production script cover of "2-D Blacktop" was apparently posted by Geekologie on their Facebook page back in December, with this description:

got to see Matt Groening, Leela AND Fry (Leela has two eyes and looks like Peggy Bundy FYI). No Bender though (I think he was scared)

Bit harsh... :laff:

I feel sorry for them though, they only find out if they get renewed in the year before _B begins to air...

Which is pretty standard in this industry, that you first get to know if you get another season after the final episode have been written and produced.

It's far more unusual that a network orders more seasons before a season even airs.  It usually only happens to very successful or very reliable shows.  Which is probably why most people hear so much about this behaviour to make them think it is usual, but all things considered, it is really not.

Many series come and die, and you guys didn't even notice.

Like Cohen said, when the show has died 'twice' (although did it die after the films or just put in a respirator?) and come back, anything is possible.

I think they should forget the finales now. We've had more than enough endings, we can pick and choose our own ending at this point (the only right choice being Devil's Hands). I'd much rather a normal episode than a lame finale attempt like Overclockwise...

I gotta concur with Otis on this one; I'd rather have Futurama end on a decent season finale than a half-baked attempt at a series finale.

I thought Reincarnation would have made a fun finale if it had truly been the finale. Upbeat, funny, and no point at all. That's classic Futurama comedy right there.

I believe that the premier is on June 21st. The countdowns from 2010 and 2011 have been 50 days before the premier. They have also both started on the first Wednesday of May. In this case, the first Wednesday of the month is May 2nd. 50 days after May 2nd is June 21st, which also happens to be on a Thursday. I don't think it'll be any later or sooner. The 28th and the 14th are both to out of place for the premier.

Wrong. It's more like trivia.

CC will probably read this and fuck with the schedule now just to annoy you. :p

But yeah, that seems the most likely date.

Plus the dates make sense. It's probably no coincidence that the dates add up. The first Wednesday of May is probably the start of the countdown, so I can't wait! ANd of course 50 days later is a Thursday on the 22nd in June. Yeah.  :flirt:
