Well, two episodes may not constitue a trend to you in the big picture but it's rather tiresome and trends to be lazier than coming up with a title that doesn't include "-ama" at the suffix.

I'll agree that it's lazy and tiresome once we start getting enough of them for it to actually seem lazy and tiresome. A second episode title with that suffix doesn't really make me think "Oh GOD, not this again", it more makes me think "that's a little similar to Benderama, isn't it?"

2 episodes in 2 series in 2 years is starting to become... trend-ish.

Are we seriously critiquing an episode title?

Yes.

Futurama often has fantastic episode titles (such as "The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings").

Seeing a bad title really makes it clear that the quality of the show is declining.

I don't know about "the quality of the show is declining," but it does seem lazier. Also, when we have next to no info about any other aspect of the episodes, we're bound to discuss the titles to death.

This is also confirmation that "The Inhuman Torch", "2-D Blacktop" and "Forty Percent Leadbelly" are 7B episodes (unless they're just working titles, I suppose).
I really hope that "The 40% Leadbelly" is not just a working title. I would love to see them do more titles like this and "The 30% Iron Chef" in the future, à la The Simpsons with "Bart Gets an A" et al. Also, the title obviously means that Bender becomes a blues or folk singer, which is totally origina--- well, I liked it a lot the first time they did it, so I'm hoping the second go is as good (or better, as viewed by the majority of you lot).

I can certainly agree with spira's "lazier.
Earlier episodes often started with a sci fi background, that -while showing similarities to present aspects- still kept a unique, funny, and original character.
Later episodes often took present things rather directly...

E.g. "I dated a Robot" clearly symbolized illegal downloading, but in a symbolic way. The sci fi plot was still the story's driving force.
While in "Attack of the Killer App", it was a mere "let's just put Twitter in that episode".

Got nothing against the '-ama' titles, but you all seem to have forgot Colorama from Reincarnation too...

Well, if we're counting the titles of the segments in Reincarnation, that makes it two "-ama" titles in season 6 and one in Season 7.

Since we're already judging new episode titles and deducing "trends" from the titles of two seasons, I'd say that two "-ama" titles in one season and then only one in the next would suggest a trend of there being less "-ama" titles as the series goes on. :p

We don't know that for sure. For all we know, the 7B titles could be 7ACV14-o-rama, 7ACV15-o-rama, etc.

And I sincerely hope I didn't give the writers ideas just then.  :shifty:

I think they've already completed all the titles for 7B...

The '-ama' titles could go on forever, really.

Futurama-ama. Powerama. Superama. Toiletama. Megama. Goldenama.

Limitless.

Also, Metro (a British newspaper) interviewed Matt Groening, one nice little quote from it was:

"...I could easily fill up my entire life just working on Futurama. I just have so much fun with it."

Full thing here.

Aimee:

Just read my next and last #futurama script for a while! #720 It's really funny n cute! Yay! Looking fwd 2 workin on it after we finish #714

I suppose they could say they were just following the pattern used with naming Neptune's moons, which had numbers instead of names for ages.

So do pretty much all celestial bodies. I suppose the -ama thing isn't a trend, really, but it does seem kind of cheap. I feel like it has been used more event hough it hasn't. That's not exactly a good thing.

I know, I'm just going by all my primary school posters of the Solar System: all the moons were named, except for Neptune, which aside from Triton and Nereid, had numbers.  This was about fifteen years ago though, and the posters might have been out of date then (you can actually see the exact same one I had in my classroom when you watch Matilda, oddly enough.)

Even with the Trunchbull, Matilda was one of the far more child friendly Roald Dahl books.  Grand High Witches, Vermicious Knids, giants and gnoolies oh my.

Also, Eric:

1st color screening of my 1st episode as a full time hack here on the show. Cannot wait to see what Rough Draft has done! #futurama

and then:

That was delightful. Could not be happier with how that turned, gonna be a great episode. #futurama

In the U.S., the new episodes will most likely start airing mid-to-late June 2012. I don't know when they will air in the U.K. (which, according to your profile, is from whence you hail.)

PEELers tend to not like when you double post. Try making use of that handy Edit button when adding onto a post. Other helpful tips for PEELing and keeping flamers at bay can be found on The Manual. :)

Also, welcome to PEEL, Benderino.

I really hope they air a week earlier than last year. I really hope so! Then more episodes for me before I go to my camp.

Welcome Benderino! Do not feel like an idiot or stupid for your doublepost, most members start out that way. Welcome to PEEL! And yes, please read the manual. ;)

Knowing Sky Season 7A will most likely start next summer (not certain) but we have 6B coming sometime this year (hopefully)
