I think that G4 is doing some Comic-Con coverage in the States, but it's not total coverage. Also, they didn't do a good job with E3 this year (the audio and video weren't in sync) so I don't expect much to come from them. I'll watch it just in case, but I'll definitely be looking on YouTube after the Futurama press conference.

I have a feeling they'll show a "cold opening" clip from BBS at the Comic-Con. Where [like Matt said] they acknowledge their absence from television.

I may watch the coverage, but I'm not totally sure yet. Considering, you know, it IS G4. And G4 can be weird...

I just saw the Bender costume on G4's Comic-Con preview special. They were using him as an example of a "Comic-Con Do" for being creative. The guy was getting a picture done with the droids from Star Wars.
If anybody gets pictures from Comic-Con, be cool and post it in the Convention thread. Optimus Prime would do it.

I bet that's a false plot, like all the ones they spread around about the Simpsons Movie.

Well I saw The Simpsons Movie today and it was really good, much better than the current show in fact. If anything this proved to me (not that I had any doubts) that the Futurama movies will be truly awesome to the max! I mean as a show The Simpsons is getting stale, and yet they pulled out a fresh decent movie despite the fact The Simpsons isn't as well suited as Futurama to the movie format. So just imagine what the Futurama movies will be like! Truly epic and full of great jokes I'd imagine!...

Otis, I agree with you about Futurama being better suited to the movie format. Only sad part is that it won't make it to the big-screen. I'd have loved to have seen Futurama at the cinema.

I just came back from preview night. Oh my gawd, I saw clips of the new movie at the Fox booth and it looks glorious. Unfortunately, I was half a convention center away at the time (the Fox booth has these giant TV screens above them, so you can see clips of coming movies on them from many parts of the convention center), so I didn't actually hear any of the dialogue. I'll try my best to get closer tomorrow, but the clip appeared randomly and unexpectly (they must be featuring a dozen different new movies on those stupid screens), so I'm not sure how successful I'll be, especially with panels to distract me most of the day. ANYWAY, enough rambling. This is what I remember seeing: * Some guy surfing along the skyline on a hoverboard, and getting sucked backwards by... I'm not sure what. I was too far away to see properly. * Zoidberg floating in the universe, eating random planets ala PacMan * Hermes getting beheaded (later someone was putting his head into a jar) * A lot of naked Fry. One scene showed him sitting in a chair next to Bender; most of the others were of him lying butt up in Farnsworth's lab on a table, with his pants off. * Talking Lord Nibbler, in a varity of different shots, but most shocking of all was that he was talking to various Planet Express members (the final clip of the commercial showed him asking Fry a question; Fry gave some answer and he screamed to the high heavens in agony :P ). * Nibbler crashing is tiny space ship inside the Planet Express building (he tried to fly out the window and simply ran into it, I think) * Leela standing in front of a bunch of fans, her hair waiving before them Forgive me if I forgot anything; I was honestly shocked I even caught it from the beginning. Also, I passed the Bongo booth several times, and when I bought an autographed poster from them on my final visit, the seller told me to make Saturday's Futurama panel for the table read. Not animatic; TABLE READ. It's possible there may be both, but I'm going to guess we're going to see the Fox commerical in all its glory ( those being our clips of interest), and then be treated to a live table read. Unfortunately, by the time I realized what the seller had told me, I was already gone from the booth, so I didn't ask him to clarify (plus, there's a slim chance that what he told me is incorrect anyway). Also, I managed to grab a copy of the free comic book (three actually; they gave me one every time I stopped by). I'd really like to post them here, because it's as much a thank you to the fans as it is a "bridge" explaining what happened during the cancellation, but I don't want to violate any rules, nevermind that I have no idea which board to post them in. If a mod says it's OK, then I'll try to scan them for you guys.

Bongo was handing out a cute paper mask of Homer's face to patrons (maybe that's the "something you didn't know existed?" ), but they ran out minutes before I got to the booth. I saw tons of people waiving them around, though, and I think I heard one seller say they were going to get more tomorrow or this weekend. Surely you know of the mating season variant Zoidberg? And nah, whatever it is, it's gotta be really cool. Otherwise he'd tell me.

Surely you know of the mating season variant Zoidberg? Oh yeah. I tried to find that booth, but I never ran across it. The place was surprisingly crowded tonight; I could barely breathe, let alone move. EDIT: Ah fuck. (c)2007 Bongo Entertainment, Inc. Futurama (c) & TM Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. All rights reserved. Neither this comic nor any portion of it may be used or reproduced for any purpose whatsoever.... I found that on the title page. I was hoping, since it was a free comic, they wouldn't mind it being freely distributed online, but it looks like I was wrong. >_< Sorry you guys.

If they advertise the Futurama DVD as hard as they're advertising The Simpsons Movie, then everybody in the free world will know about it.
Fer Gawd's sakes, I've seen adverts for The Simpsons at least 50 times over the past 4 hours...

* Zoidberg floating in the universe, eating random planets ala PacMan * Hermes getting beheaded (later someone was putting his head into a jar) That Zoidberg clip sounds very similar to the pac man clip in Anthology Of Interest II. And as for Hermes, I hope he’s ok and goes back to normal in the end… Originally posted by Officer 1BDI: Also, I passed the Bongo booth several times, and when I bought an autographed poster from them on my final visit, the seller told me to make Saturday's Futurama panel for the table read. Not animatic; TABLE READ. I wouldn’t worry, I’m pretty sure they will still show clips. The only reason they wouldn’t is if they weren’t done, but you’ve already seen some clips and they were in color which proves they are done (at least certain parts). Also on the Comic Con website it says that they will be showing exclusive clips. Not only that but last year they showed clips of The Simpsons Movie so everything suggests that they will indeed be showing clips of Futurama this year… Also, I managed to grab a copy of the free comic book (three actually; they gave me one every time I stopped by). If you put one up on eBay I’d totally buy it! If you want some extra cash I suggest you grab some more… Originally posted by Officer 1BDI: I saw this hanging up as a giant banner inside the Fox booth, so I'm going to assume it's ok to post here:

It seems to be the official advertisement poster for Bender's Big Score. WOW! Could that be the cover of the DVD? Maybe it’s just an advert, either way me likes! For some reason when I click it I can't get it to go bigger though?... Originally posted by futz: From Billy West's message board:

Hey,
I would be going in but I have to go down to Comicon in San Diego. but I'll be in next Thurs. I believe.Saturday around 2:00 pm there will be the Futurama panel ----The DVD's are coming out sooner than expected.
Billy Sooner than expected?... I hope they shed some light on this at the Comic Con, this sounds very promising indeed!...

That Zoidberg clip sounds very similar to the pac man clip in Anthology Of Interest II. And as for Hermes, I hope he’s ok and goes back to normal in the end… It looks remarkably like the clip from AoI, but the planets were just too obvious for it to be the exact same clip . Beck: That reeks. The TinyPic link won't work, either? And as for the movie not being as "bright" (assuming I'm reading that in the correct context); granted, some of the things I described before sound concerning... or would if they were on another show. I thought the clips were hilarious (but perhaps I'm easily amused), and my first impression is despity all of the odd and unconventional things going on in that movie, I think the staff is going to pull it off. The animation alone is brilliant; parts of it looked better than it had on the show. The "Family Guy catastrophy" didn't even come to mind. If anyone uploads it to YouTube, it won't be me, seeing as I don't have access to a video camera (that, and to get close enough to hear the sound, I actually have to be in the Fox booth, and I don't think that's something they'd approve of). I wish someone does get footage and post it, though, so you guys don't have to gauge your view on the movie off of my biased opinions. ETA: I almost forgot to mention: yes, Otis, it's in widescreen.
