I havent seen a thread like this so i'd figure i'd give it a spin.

I'm an avid guitarist and i love Classic Rock, Punk, Metal, and even a bit of Jazz.
So this thread is for all the guitarists here on PEEL to discuss their Axes and equipment. I'll start us off...

I have numerous guitars which i love dearly.

Including:
-1973 Fender Stratocaster (originally my dads but it was a handmedown and the first guitar i ever played)
-2003 Ibanez PC300Cent Accoustic (my first guitar I ever bought)
-2003 Rickenbacker 350V63 (a guitar made famous by my favorite songwriter, John Lennon.)
-1976 Rickenbacker 4001 Bass (actually my dad's Bass but i mess around with it)
-1997 Rickenbacker 360-12 (My only 12-string guitar. The most amazing sound i've ever heard. Sounds just like the 1960s.)

*breathes heavily* Thats about it. Your turn.

I think it's abit odd that every single fucking garage/rock n' roll band that spawn today plays Rickenbaker...
I have a guitar (of which I have 0,3% of a clue how to play)- A basic Ibanez starter guitar (acoustic)- sounds quite nice considering the price.
But I'm a sucka for the RG series and most Gibson Les Pauls. And Godin, of course...

I find that Fender guitars look bland. Classic, but dull to look at.

You don't like Fender?  I love my Telecaster, not as much as my Gibson perhaps but it is definitely no.2.  I would pick the telecaster over the les paul any day if I was playing a rhythm part though.  I find Gibsons slightly more restrictive when play chords.  I dunno why, just a feeling I have.  For picking, hammering, sliding however the Gibson cannot be beat by any guitar under £2000 in my opinion.

I'd like a guitar that's also and actual real axe.
It'd sound crummy but, what the hey...

I'd also like to be able to play the damn thing.

Ok first step: learn how to spell it.
I payed just over £1000 for my Gibson...well I didn't pay it was a present, but yeah that's how much it cost.

@davie and Nasty: A tele is a pretty guitar, and it has a sound that can really blow me away- I like the "crispyness" (that sounded like some cheesy reviewer word). I probably should have said that i was mainly talking about strats (and even so- only about the looks).
From people who have played Les PAuls, I have heard that the neck can seem bulky and that that is the main gripe- but they learn to deal with it because it can make the most amazing grinding roar- (which we all should like).
So none of you have tried a quality Godin LGX?

Wow, that Ric-12 String looks cool!  How does that handle and can you play it to the same level as you can a six string?  I tend to get a little confused when playing 12 stings.  That's probably just because I am not used to them though as I also get a little confused playing 5-string bass's.

@Nasty: Especially the acoustic is a beauty- I have seen a custom made Ibanez acoustic with the same body and neck as yours (in black, though) and with the RG head... I was told that it was put into production later on- is this true?

It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you play it for a while, it just comes naturally. It's a bit more work pressing more strings down, but its worth it once you hear the sound that it makes. It's the most beautiful sounding guitar ive ever heard. If youve ever heard some of the Beatles tracks from the mid-60s (ie. Hard Day's Night, If I Needed Someone, Ticket to ride) you'll know what i mean.

It's much harder to play lead guitar on just because it has more strings, but its not THAT bad. It aint as good a lead guitar as a 6 or 7 string but its fine all the same playing lead.

Those are some really nice guitars. I feel like Indiana Jones uncovering my Yamaha SGV300
.. with 3 inches of dust on it.. got friggin busy as hell w/ work.. and its been in the corner ever since.. I should replace the strings and tune it soon for old times sake. or just get back to work..

It's purrdy n' durrdy.

I think Jack White uses an old(ish), cheap(ish) Yamaha and it seems to work out ok for him.  At the end of the day it is not the tool it is the craftsman which is most important.

After I started playing in high school I picked up an Ibanez Roadstar.  After I grew out of my cheese metal phase, I realized all the Ibanez was good for was drowning it in solid state distortion and playing pinch harmonics.  If you want good tone, that ain't the guitar.  I got rid of it.  Now I just have my Yamaha acoustic, a cheap Fender Squire Jazz Bass, and no amps.  Simplicity.

I have one acoustic guitar. It is a Takamine G-240. I am almost completely unskilled with it. But once in a while I take it out and strum for a while. That is all.

The only guitars worth metioning of mine are epiphone gibson clones, so not much worth blabbing about.  Pictures are available but, Meh.

Also: Washburn Rover...Best noodling guitar EVER.  They just need to work  out the balance problem.  I reccomend a heavy  tassle on the rear strap nut, while playing standing.

Hey Pitt Clemens, whatcha talkin bout?!

Epiphones are great! They play as well as the more expensive Gibsons but cost less. If i had a Casino or some other Epiphone, I'd brag about them.

Now...SHOW US PICS!

My guitars:

Yamaha BBG5 & Burns Marquee

Crafter acoustic

Wasburn Mercury Series

(Apparently a rare and valuable model as it has Status pickups. Also, this image has been photoshopped to make the neck longer by a friend.)

Kit not shown:
Techsystems 200 watt amp
Yamaha SY85 keyboard

Rickenbacker 4001's are droolworthy, though only if they have that aggressive Chris Squire sound. Not like those pansies nowadays, they should have the treble whacked right up!

Believe me i know Lurrr. I have a 1976 Fireglow 4001 Bass and its the best sounding Bass ive ever played. Ive played a Hofner, a Yamaha, a washburn, and a Fender Jazz Bass but none of em compare to the old Ric 4001. It comes highly recommended from me 10/10.

Hehe. Even though the neck has been photoshopped there it still is really long. When I mentioned it to a friend he sent me that pic as a joke but it took me months to realise he'd changed it.

@Nasty Pasty- I would most definitely love to get my hands on a fireglow 4001, but the £1000 asking price is a little too much for a poor student like me. One day though...
