Hmmm... if you've got the guts, you can keep omitting Godin and then just wait and see.

Haha dont worry dude, i like Godin. One of my friends has one, and its fuckin great. I just prefer my favorites over em. But if i had the chance to play it more, i might like it much more.

From what I've heard, it's one of the most comfortable guitars to play (and I love the sound). And he (the guy I kow who plays Godin) mentioned something about a synthesizer-dealie... what's that?

Some guitars today have synthesizers built into them, so it can produce wacky and f'd up sounds. I played one once, but it suxs ass when not playing notes.

You dont need to get a brand new-factory model. They have numerous ones on Ebay for GREAT prices. Check there if youre interested.

I've generally found that decent Ricky's go for close to their factory price on eBay, but either way they're still out of my price range. I can't really afford to be spending monye on guitars right now!

And on sick guitars: any bass with more than five strings. Six-strings are okay, but seven and above are just stupid. Eight and twelve string basses set up like twelve-string guitars are fine (because that's a difference in sound), as well as the Chapman stick. But generally, you can measure a player's ego by how many strings he has. Four works for me for nearly all situations, and I play some very high stuff at times.

I have 2 guitars. I have a Schecter Daisy Rock Accoustic, and a old 1970's Dean z Electric.

Here is a picture of the Daisy Rock one. (its the pink one):

Theyre both great guitars, but o mostly play my brother's guitars (think Nasty Pasty )

My gear:

Gibson Faded SG Special, worn cherry
Yamaha RGX121S natural finish
Peavey Bandit 112 amp
Boss pedals(MT-2 distortion and PH-3 phase shift)
Whatever cables
.011 DR Nickelwound strings
Dunlop III Jazz picks

Also, in response to other posts in this thread I missed, I'd like to say I think all Fender guitars sound like dog shit. I need that humbucker sound, and Fender just can't cut it.

Apparently youre one of the only ones who thinks so good ol' Lampy b/c they've been around for 50 years and are still popular as all hell. And besides, i attached Humbucker pickups to my old 73 Strat and it sounds good, but its not something that would make me call Fenders "dog shit".

You play through a Peavey Bandit, yet you say all Fenders sound like shit.  How can you tell?

I guess all guitars would sound like crap through a transistor crackerbox like that Peavey

It's a hell of a lot better than any Marshall amp, I'll say that much. They're overpriced and the lead channel sounds like ass.

Just because something's popular doesn't mean it's good. In fact, it usually means the opposite.

For a topic on this, what string do you most often break? I always break the Es, be it the high or low. Both of them give me problems. I just feel lucky because I haven't broken a string in a long time. Either these DR Nickelwound strings are great, I finally put my bridge on the right way this time(On my SG, the bridge is held up by string tension), I haven't been playing enough, or I'm just lucky.

I don't what I'm doing with amps which is why I just listen to the advice everyone else gives me. Trouble is, right now I'm buying a new amp and it looks like a toss-up between a Marshall and a Line 6. Unfortunately, there's a lot of hate for Marshall and  with Line 6 you either love them or you burn Line 6 users. Damn, I may have end up deciding for myself at this rate...

On strings: With my six string I tend to break all my strings eventually, but it usually starts with the high E or D. On bass I usually break the D or A string.

I've had my bass close to a year now and I still haven't broken a string on it yet, although I did get a set of bass strings as a stocking stuffer for Christmas, so if worse comes to worse, I'll be ready.

I once saw a friend of mine break a bass string while playing Primus songs. It was final exams freshman year, and he brought his bass to school, and while we were waiting for the bus, he goes into Antipop and BAM! The G just goes flying all over the place. It was pretty funny.

There is no right or wrong Amp! you just find what you like and buy it, gig it, and get on with it.
I have used Many amps over the years, but always come back to Marshall. I use them straight, and with a Boss GT3 in front. I get a great sound either way.

Gibson is putting out a Jimmy Page "signature edition" starburst.  It costs nine grand, and that's just for the unlimited run.  You want one of the ones he signed, it's 25 thousand wing wangs.  Why is it worth that much?

Because the name Jimmy Page is on the guitar.

And therefore, it will play at least tenfold better than any other guitar made from the same wood, with the same kind of sunburst paintjob and same hardware. It's the context under which it was crafted that makes the difference. Everybody knows that.

That is one thing that annoys me, people spending more money for high gloss finish. I got my SG with a hardshell case for $700 since it was in faded cherry. But then people go out and buy the Standard which is the same thing only with a higher gloss finish and pickup covers for twice the price. Pointless I tell you.

Also, while I was typing this, one of my friends told me this, hold your guitar up to your computer screen at an angle you can see the low E(while it's facing the screen) and pluck the string. It just looks really cool.

*bump*

I was just at my local music store 2day i i decided to look around and mess with some of the guiatrs. I went over to the Epiphone section and grabbed a big hollowbody off the wall. If any one knows, its a Casino and i ended up sitting there playing it for 2 hours. It had one of the most warmest sounds ive ever heard from a guitar.

Here is a pic of the Casino i was playing: http://www.epiphone.com/elitist/casinopopup.htm

Its one fucking beautiful guitar, and im thinkin of buying it.

I love semihollow bodies. I believe I've played a Casino before, and like you said, it was a great guitar. In fact, my bass is a semihollow. It's an old Hofner my aunt's roomate had and she decided to give it to me. The electronics are pretty out of wack(for some reason they don't agree with my tuner), but it's got a decent sound, once you get past how much it buzzes.

I played an old '66 Gibson made Epi Casino.  It was nice, but I prefer the Sheraton.  The Sharaton is semi-hollow like the Gibson ES 335 and has humbucking pickups.  The Casino is fully hollow and has P-90 single coil pickups like the Gibson ES 330.  That combination makes the Casino more prone to unwanted noise and feedback at high volumes.

Stylin' guitars none the less.

I've played the Sheraton also Spice Weasel, but i still have to say i like the Casino a bit better.

But i guess its just a matter of preference...

No. It looks like a bass version of an ES-335, vintage sunburst finish, mini humbuckers for pickups.
