So I take it Orion isn't clearly seen? I don't know constellations very well.

The thing is both fleets are really close earth now.. so something will happen or it will no help finding earth if you get blown by docens of Cylon BaseStars just after..and we know the Cylons are good trackers.

Or maybe thats how the series is supposed to end.. finding earth to be mutually destroyed over it

Oh Please!  Orion the Hunter is not only one of the most easily identified constellations, but perhaps the most beautiful.

Of course I hae the thrill of seeing the  "Southern Cross" and "Magellanic Clouds" when I was in Africa.  I didn't have access to a telescope then, just a pair of binoculars - it was great seeing them then as I probably won't ever see them again.

As for BSG, I haven't been able to catch any eps of the new season.  Let's hope that it doesn't become a ripoff of "Galactica 1980".

I'm playing with an idea that some of the fleet will survive on different locations on earth and some of them will be remembered by future generations as Greek gods. Maybe chief Tyrol will go live in the mountains and discover lederhosen or something.

Damn! Awesome episode.

Those scenes between Tigh and Caprica Six were the most brilliant thing I've seen on TV in ages...

I dissagree.. the ep was very poor IMHO..
everything that really mattered could be told in far less time..
We have allready lost 1,5 episodes from 20 in only 4 aired.. and im begining to felt fooled.. is this the super-ride RDM promised us?

We only got to know a bit more how Cylons work.. and only a bit about religious freedom .. Roslin = Bitch, Tory = megabitch .. good the scenes Tigh/Six with Tigh in search of answers.. but still Six couldnt make it that he's a Cylon.. she can feel the final 5 near ut cant feel one in front of her?
-WTF happened with Natalie's fleet?? not a word.. thanks
-The raptor crash was the only hight point of the movie.. and for a while i trully tought Racetrack was dead.. how she could survive that crash?? the CGI showed the Raptor smashing the cockpit against the deck..they should have been crushed.. still im glad Lea will still be arround.. that seemed a HELL crappy way to kill her..

Again: I think this is a waste of ep.. everything important could have been included in the last ep

I read that (didnt see the episode) and the astronomer in me needed to know how far from Earth they could be and still see a recognizable Orion.

Sorry man, got tired of sidescrolling

the image on the left is how the constellation would look if you got into a spaceship, pointed it 90 degrees on the sky (Orion is at RA = 5h or so, so I picked stars at RA = 23h and 11h) and flew 10 lightyears.  The second one is fron 100 lightyears away.  If you were to fly towards Orion from Earth, the constellation would become unrecognizable at about 50 ly from Earth.  I didn't check the opposite direction, but the constellation is going to be recognizable from a very long ways away.  The real trouble is that there arent any nebulae anywhere near our solar neighborhood.  Actually, the nearest big one is in Orion itself.

But yeah.  Thats what I did with my Sunday evening.  I mean, its not like Im supposed to be studying for exams or anything...

RDM is smart enough not to kill 2 girls in a row.  I bet he's still drowning in hatemail from the week before.

Chief really stole the show at the end there.  Seeing him snap was worth the time.

OK episode, even if Baltar's getting more mushy-feely-preachy than a Hari Krishna Circle.

Interesting point in past ep:

If virtual six is really MORE than an allucination.. if she really has fisical power and presence...

Would that solve the mystery of Shelly Goefry? i mean, in the end it could turn up that that six was not a cylon after all..

i hope they dont introduce the beings of light here ..please RDM dont make me chase you with a nunchuck

@SoylentOrange: In captain dummy-speak, please.

@Pitt: about halfway through the scene, I found myself saying, "Oh Chiefy, don't be trying to play hardball with The Adama.  This will only bring tears."  And then it did.  Son, just because you beat him in boxing doesn't mean you're in his league.

@Javier: I'm more interested in how she managed to  physically lift Baltar.  Also, Racetrack was buckled up and wearing a helmet.

Adama just knows that Chief is extra unstable right now because of the incident.  To him I'm sure he's seeing this whole thing as a cooling down peroid for Chief, and once his composure is back, he'll be shooting space cycles out of his little tubes again.  What Adama doesn't realize is that he's a Cylon who's been thinking he's a human all this time, that
and that his appernet frizzled behavior is really just the tip of the iceberg of a whole lot of deeper problems which will manifest themselves with some dark consequnces.

Anybody play GTA: Vice City?  Remember what happened to Lance?  I think that's going to be Tyrol.

Not really feeling the Balthar/religion-plotline... The theology seems a bit too Dr Phil-ish, with added sexcapades... Need to pick up speed and tie in with the rest of the story.

Not sure I buy the explanation why Balthar and his group are allowed to remain on the Galactica. Seems highly disruptive of military operations to have this constant source of trouble, not to mention the investigations, armed guards, etc. Adama should've placed them all on a shuttle long ago.

Gotta admit I thought Racetrack would kick the bucket (not Galactica) there too. Moore is devious enough to pull a 1-2 punch on us. Then again it does make sense if the cockpit of a Raptor is re-enforced for crash landings, particular since Racetrack told Skulls to join her in the cockpit.

What happened to Zarek during the Quorum meetings?

Liked the Tigh/Six scenes.

Though Tyrols scenes were easily the best part of the episode.  Could he be thinking he made the error on Racetrack's Raptor due to his Cylon programming taking over, just like Boomer with the water and shooting Adama? No wonder he is under a great deal of stress and snaps in the bar.

Hopefully we return to the Cylon civil war next episode. Hopefully Natalie weren't gullible enough to fall for Cavil's trap and have an ace up her sleeve.

If Lee insist on being the goodie-goodie of the fleet now that Helo have gone walkabout, he have to tell Roslin about Tory's association with Balthar. Wonder how Roslin is going to take that bit of news?

Before this is over, Tyrol is going to gut Tory like a fish.

Looks to me like they're going the Heroes route with the three plotlines - one episode will focus on Galactica, the next will focus on Demetrius or whatever it's called, the next will focus on the Cylon Civil War.

@Nixorbo.  Whoops, my bad.  I'll try and speak in English.  Basically, the image that was taken from BSG that shows the Orion constellation in the background has to be within about 10 lightyears of Earth or the stars in the constellation would start to shift around.  Considering the Milky Way is 100,000 lightyears across, that's pretty damned close.

Its funny that universally 4X04 sucked  :D

Let's hope 4X05 is better..
we have to have in count that due to the past strike  RDM wasnt sure he would be able to film the last 10 eps (4X11->4X20) he made the 4X10 or 4X11 to work like a series finale (now where i have seen that before?) so is double crime that he is wasting episodes like this...because he tought that he only may had 10 eps to conclude

Oh no... they wasted another half episode with Baltar's crap..

ok.. he believes himself the new spiritual leader.. we get it.. there is no need to cut back to him every 10 minutes..

apart from that:

-the series is going too slow for being a "last ride" season
-No Adama (neither of them) in the ep.. is the first time Olmos dont appear..neither Roslin
-At least one BaseStar scaped cavil's ambush..
-Helo plan sounded complety ok..also ok are the motivations to rendezvous with the fleet now.. if they dont..they may be left behind
-Curious how Athena is going more human than anyone
-Next episode i guess we will have extra Roslin with:

Starbuck?  Sensible?  Never!

I don't care who thinks less of me for this but Mary McDonnell's performance in this episode was one of the best and convincing performances I have ever seen.  Usually I see right through hospital drama acting because it gets sappy.  Not this one this felt honest, touchig and very real.  Wow.

Is it bad that my favorite part of the episode was "I'm ok! ::dead::"?

"Thus will it come to pass, a dying leader will know the truth of the Opera House, the missing Three will give you the five who have come from the home of the thirteenth. You are the harbinger of death, Kara Thrace. You will lead them all to their end. End of line."

Pretty good episode tonight. I like where the plot is going with the base ship joining the fleet.

I'm getting a little bit tired of the religious stuff, but hopefully it gets resolved somehow with the Cylons and Kara and all that...

Major Kira from DS9 made a cameo appearance, which was cool.

Great ep.. at last.. after IMO 2 or 3 weak ones.. many gratuitous deaths (specially predictible ones like Barolay's, i knew she was gone the second she boarded the raptor)..but they look a bit more necesary now.. we advanced more in the Cylon plot and we have given more hints.. including a reminder of Thrace prophecy

-When the destroyed Cylon fleet is found for a moment i tought thay was the gigant gas planet seen in Maelstrom.. now we know that the gigant gas planet Kara saw was not Jupiter or Saturn.. but this one..
-Why i have the feeling thay Gaeta will became one leged or die for avoiding loosing the leg
-also it worries my a bit that they left out the return of the Demitrious with its new "toy" to the fleet.. i tought they were to jump in in the last second and alarms go on "Dradis concatc: One Cylon basestar!" and then the ep end.. but no.. they left it for next ep.. surelly it will be at least a spectacular mess when a BaseStar jumps in the fleet

-Big Whiskey Tango Foxtrot in the supossed predicament of "the final 5 coming from earth"
What the hell did they mean with that? they are Cylons.. Cylons were created in the colonies and the humanoid models in the Cylon homeworld by their robotic predesors.. how could other diferent humanoid Cylons come from anywhere else.. do they mean the 5 discovered earth and then for some reason issolated (or were issolated) from the other 7?
-At least they didnt forgot about the Opera House mystery
-They killed another terciary character.. Cally,Mathias, now Jeanne.. my guess is that they are killing many secondarys.. next ones may be Seelix, Hotdog, the Tatooed pilot.. there are not much more secondaries

Ups.. sorry. hit quote instead edit

anyway: It would be great that baseship remains with the fleet.. but something tells me that she will not be there for long.. is like if they writers cant allow such awesome thing to happen.. like Pegasus wich they had to kill in the end

Oh.. and at last they show a FTL jump from inside the ship in real time.. no change of shot
