The 7th Doctor to the 8th was a very strange Regeneration. :p

Why? Because it was in America? What, you have a problem with MadTV's Will Sasso being present for the regeneration?

No, because it was unlike any of the others. With the face morphing and the electricity. :O_o:

I have. It just didn't make any thematic sense for that to be happening.

Frankenstein's monster was a dead body that [was rejiggered by a scientist so it would] came back to life. Somewhat same theme.

If the Doctor had died, he'd be dead. He was regenerating, not being "rejiggered."

Sure, it's a "cloaking device" vs. "chameleon circuit" difference, but it still bugs me.

He did say that the regeneration took too long when he was talking about his amnesia. He was deader than he ever had been before.

And chameleon arch! That's how he was "half human", nearly forgot.

They sure are fond of chameleons on Gallifrey, aren't they?

Although I don't believe he ever used the chameleon arch on Gallifrey itself. The first time was when he made himself half human to fool the Master (read: "canon" explanation for him saying he's half human in the movie) and then during Human Nature as the 10th Doctor. Speaking of the Master, he used one when he disguised himself to escape the Time War, didn't he? Once again, not sure if it was on Gallifrey itself or not.

Rory is awesome. Do I really need to repeat this? Yes, I do.

In related speculation, I wonder what it is this "Church" entity worships as god. It seems to have a hierarchy taken from the modern day Catholic church, but otherwise it is completely different, even down to the iconography. And really, what creature could possibly want to be worshipped as deity and also have the Greek letter omega as its symbol?

...

Oh, right.

C'mon Steve, you're not even trying. The 10th Doctor was very iffy about giving away screwdrivers so it was a big deal for him, but meeting River for the first time and learning that he HAD given away a screwdriver in the future made him think about the rather obvious option of making spares. It's even kind of wibbly in that he had to have been going to give one away to make him change his outlook on them.

What happened on Saturday that stopped Doctor Who from airing? Cause I only remember the fact that it wasn't on. It was either Eurovision (which by the way is a load of shite), or the Pixar Documentary and then after that, Wall-e.

I heard something about that and saw something in the paper where Karen did look a little worse for wear... she was definitely hammered and stumbling out of a club. As for whether she ended up naked in a corridor... I dunno. I didn't actually read the story. There's a plate somewhere wrapped in that story, maybe I'll dig it out next year.

I've actually caught up with all of Doctor Who now - at least the new series. Now I want more. When does it air again?

Five and a half seasons isn't bad.

Surely nothing compared to the entire pre-McGann run, but nothing to balk at...especially when watched in the span of about two weeks.

What Josh said, I intend to get as many of the old Serials as is possibly, maybe not the ones with bit parts because that's just likely to frustrate me when I don't know what happened/is happening/will happen.

But I'll get around to it eventually.
