For Christ's sake Unmentionable, the Futurama staff probably don't even know you exist. Anyway, I'm holding out for an announcement or something at this panel today. Fingers crossed.

I would not be too sure they did...sad but true: - Every series has a hardcore fanbase. Yet -for Futurama- that base is more important than for other ones. From all the major series, Futurama might hold the lowest percentage of casual viewers, and the highest percentage of at least halfway dedicated fans. - The Futurama writers already admitted to continuity research on fan sites. - Also, nearly every writer will check the critics/feedback on his work. Those might be ones on rather generic sources (e.g. TV.com, etc...). But -given the importance of the hardcore fanbase- they will also check that groups behaviour/feedback. So, certain themes popping up with regular frequency on major fansites (and I would label Peel as one) stand a rather good chance of being noticed sooner or later by a member of the Futurama staff.

Inquisitor, is it really necessary to post such long posts over small things? And AH YES, he went by the name of Honey Badger-something if I remember. Good on Eric.

So far, a new season has never been announced at such an event. It's always a press release released on some weekday. So was season 7 and season 6, and so was the press release for the films. It was never Cohen or Groening standing up at a panel shouting, 'we're back for another season!'.
Essentially; if nothing is announced today, I wouldn't be surprised, but you shouldn't get your hopes down. Do get them down if we've heard nothing by March.

Exactly.
I heard the show is canned and that CC is done with it.
Unmentionable told me... official stalker of the Futurama cast.

For Christ's sake Unmentionable, the Futurama staff probably don't even know you exist. Danny, you're better off ignoring me At least, Unmentionable irritated Eric Rogers via Twitter. Eric rightfully called him a "prick" . Also Unmentionable was busy bothering Katey Sagal and Lauren Tom, if I recall correctly. he called me a creep but in the end they're the creeps I heard the show is canned and that CC is done with it.
Unmentionable told me... official stalker of the Futurama cast. i didn't say that & i'm done with those jerks Thank you. You just broke my chair due to my intense laughter. shut up Seriously, why isn't Unmentionable banned for stalking the Futurama cast? how is that ban worthy? I hope he is banned forever from the Futurama staff hearts... can't happen

Agreed. And I hope Unmentionable is not allowed to view Futurama in any country other than Antarctica from now on, according to a new Earth law that just passed.

Okay, does no one else see that Unmentionable is just a troll, trolling all of us. Nobody can be this crazy.
Anyway, we should know in a few hours if anything got announced or happened.

I really hope that somebody from Sketchfest leaks information somewhere on the internet on the panel. Supposedly they are to show some clips from the new episodes.I am becoming super-apprehensive over Futurama's lifespan. We haven't heard anything about it other than it is being deliberated. I would love to see it for two more years (hunh, that should be a political chant or something), and January is nearing its end. Should we bum-rush the executive who have Futurama's fate in their hands?

Inquisitor, is it really necessary to post such long posts over small things?
Yes, it is. But you also should have realised that the post did not exclusively refer to "Does the Futurama writing staff know Unmentionable". Yet -to answer the question- a more general approach is the only reasonable solution. Turning the question from "Does the Futurama writing staff know Unmentionable?" to "Does the Futurama writing staff look at Fansites?". Of course, that question could theoretically be answered with a simple "I'm sure they do" or "Nope, they won't waste their time with it". But both these short phrases will not give the readers ANY reasons what made the appropriate posters draw that conclusion. Some serious thought work might have been put into it, or the person might have just tossed a coin. So, it was a matter of politeness and respect towards others for me, to write down the reasons which lead me to assume that the Futurama writing staff will imhO very probably occasionally look at fan sites. Then -with Unmentionable posting rather frequently, and many of his posts being rather "memorable- it's a matter of statistics that sooner or later one writers would have seen one of Unmentionable's posts. I thought about writing down the same reasons down when SGB suggested showing Miss Futurama's artwork to Eric Rogers/the staff. Assuming the theory of them occasionally looking at fan sites is correct, and taken Miss Futuramas frequent art posts into consideration, chances are indeed rather high that one or more members of the writing staff would have seen those pictures.
