Today was Futurama Live at SF Sketchfest. It included an abridged table reading of "Proposition Infinity" featuring: Billy West, John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche, Phil LaMarr, Lauren Tom, and Lee Supercinski narrating. It was so great, they were all really funny and engaging, just like I've seen in youtube clips of their convention stuff. It also included an act of an episode from the upcoming season (Mr. Supercinski said there was no exact date yet, but probably July). I and everyone in the sold out comedy club were laughing out loud the entire time the preview was playing; I can't wait. During the Q&A i asked John DiMaggio about his beat-boxing, standup days, and he did some live beatboxing for us! Lee Supercinski was handing out Futurama goodies to all the people with questions (bender toys, Futurama monopoly, DVDs) I personally got a Nibbler Beanie (by far the best giveaway available). Sadly they reminded the crowd that still no deal has been reached for a season in 2014, which Lee Supercinski mentioned they would have to start on as early as April if they wanted a new season completed by Summer '14. Long story short, live event was great; tell your friends to buy Futurama DVDs! Personal thanks to Lee Supercinski who, after hearing about a post of mine a couple months ago on PEEL needing tickets to this event, put me and a friend on the guest list. Truly kind and something you might expect only from a Futurama producer. Bam

I forget most of the gags already but it basically consisted of picking up a space-hitchhiker who turns out to be a hostile alien, starts taking out the crew one at a time. very alien-esque, very funny. i'm just happy it wasn't another fry-leela story oh and good news, it heavily featured Lionel Preacherbot

no i did not see what production number it was. also it didn't have a tagline under the opening "Futurama" title. @bartman - that reminds me that it was a shape-shifter type alien in the preview

Thanks for the intel JCVD13, that's really appreciated. I understand you're the guy that some people thought was a scammer ? Way to go, now you've shut them up I really wish I could have been there, however San Francisco is too far from my cold country. Well, at least we know something, that they are waiting for Fox to take a decision. I've already sent a message to support the show. The quality is way too high for a cancellation.

Oh shit. Hell, I might as well transcribe it out of my Cinescape I still have from 2002 (it was that interview):
"I had an idea for an upcoming episode that the various members of the crew are being gradually replaced by identical replicants and our hero needs to rescue the crew and get them back.... whether he's a replicant or not. It's my version of Blade Runner, basically. Yeah, except the science-fiction twist at the end is that whoever the character we think isn't a replicant, or a snatched body, actually is."
Of course, again it could go in a completely different direction even if it is based on that old idea, but it's interesting they would resurrect it assuming it's based on that.
I could see them copping out on three breasted aliens by saying, "We've only got this one eyed alien, close enough." But a Futurama version of Blade Runner would be very cool. oh and good news, it heavily featured Lionel Preacherbot
Aww yeah!!! One of the characters that really wasn't very well characterised yet. They could really make this work if they want to delve in deep to his circuitry. I for one am very excited on the topic of Futurama speculation right now so keep it flowing!

Oooo, plot sounds sweet, reminds me of The Thing combined with Alien. Insane how it's been in MG's mind for 11 years, maybe longer.

Don't know if this was posted, but a few days ago there was an interview with Billy West about the Sketchfest, and concerning the future of the show, he said: “What we have to figure out is if we’re going to come back for another one or two years. Right now, the jury’s out. I don’t know why they would ever want to stop doing it. I can do all this stuff until I’m in my 80s. My voice ain’t about to change.” I hope it gets picked up, I'm in the Futurama Zone now!

I'd love to see the show go on for another season. If the episodes are great this half, then I say keep going, but if we get more half-and-half, then I think the eighth should be its last season.
