Yuck. Also I found that a squashed kif was a bit unessecery. Even if it wasn't canon.

In BWABB, it was canon ;)

I apparently didn't realize that PEEL does not support piracy, or the discussion of how to carry out piracy.

I really enjoyed Naturama, but the squashed Kif was just vile, and they could have come up with an interesting Sci-Fi explanation for the episode (the Omicronians exterminated every last Earthican, so the cast have got reincarnated in their animal forms, and we see them frolicking amongst the decaying remains of Earth society).

I agree completely that Naturama wasn't Sci-Fi enough, but squashed Kif was hilarious. I would welcome it becoming a running gag, as it's 2 for 2 in making me break out in hysterics.

I really liked Naturama, and didn't have a problem with Squashed!Kif at all.

I do see the point being made about the episode not being "sci-fi" enough, but I'm willing to overlook it on this occasion. The episode is a parody, and it works really well as such. Trying to work a sci-fi element into it would have been trying to do too much at once, I think. It would have bogged the whole thing down.

On piracy : I agree, buying the dvds keeps the show alive. So I would normally say buy, buy, buy, people!

The UK is a little different though, because they don't get the show for ages. They're at least a year behind the States and have to wait even longer for the dvds to come out. If you really love the show, that's a long time to wait. (And not spoil yourself on PEEL.) I can understand wanting a stream in that situation.

Just my two cents!

Some people are thinking if the show is going to be renewed, it'll be officially announced at the little... Futurama panel or whatever you call it this Saturday, the 26th.

I have hope, Danny. Is that too much to ask for?

Although I would say that it's probable that CC has already renewed the show and they're in development, or Fox is withholding CC from production 'cause they might want to pick the show back up for themselves. But I'm only guessing so take my word with a grain of salt.

For those who don't know, the five step process of making any film/TV is:
  • Development
  • Pre-production
  • Production
  • Editing
  • Release

Haven't we all?

I guess not the comic writers, because they would make the comics either way at Bongo.

Yeah, but the comics are just based upon canon; they do not create new canon. (See "Cure for the Common Clod" and compare with "Cold Warriors")

Yeah, I know, but if the show was canceled I could see them doing non-canon expansions upon almost everything that they haven't expanded upon.

In a short interview to promote the upcoming Sketchfest, Billy West said :

“We have another season that is going to premiere — it’s already done,” West said. “What we have to figure out is if we’re going to come back for another one or two years. Right now, the jury’s out. I don’t know why they would ever want to stop doing it. I can do all this stuff until I’m in my 80s. My voice ain’t about to change.”

If I was producing 'The Simpsons', I would be concerned about Fox limiting their 'Animation Domination' contributors to a 13 episode season.

Sounds like CC will 'probably' do another 13-26 episodes after this year and call it quits the way Billy worded that.
Which would probably be for the best (although I'd be down for 52 more), that and a movie for cinemas.

Actual news, sort of... yes.

The news is no news. Not good news, not bad news, just no news. Which, at the moment, is bad news.

From what I understand, Billy West is reporting that Comedy Central/Fox/God/whatever has the fate of Futurama in their hands is deliberating. They're reviewing profit margins, projected revenues and expenses, and ratings. Last season was a blunder in the ratings department, and it was neither Futurama's nor Comedy Central's fault. How do you compete for ratings when viewership was staggered due to the Fourth of July and the Summer Olympics. Plus Viacom fumbled with their Direct TV/Dish (I can't remember which one couldn't afford to keep Viacom on) dispute.

While we sure don't hope Futurama gets re-cancelled, we do at least have plenty of fresh material that will eventually age into vintage wine over the next few years.

I don't remember my past stance on a feature film in theaters, I am currently and believe I have always been kinda against the idea. Futurama has already had four movies, albeit direct-to-dvd, and Futurama simply is not nearly as recognizable as "The Simpsons". Everybody knows "The Simpsons" and how long it has been in syndication, but most people, even today, really don't recognize Futurama.

I'm worried about Billy West's health. Last decade, he was diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer (I believe it was prostate, it was concerning some sort of sexual organ). And though it is risque and borderline insulting to say this, but studies have shown that vegans actually are overall less healthy than their omnivorous counterparts. I do imagine him passing away in the next twenty years, but I also thought that Taylor Swift would have been murdered by that Kennedy she was dating (I actually don't like Taylor Swift, but I knew that wasn't going to end well, but no relationship does end well... or last a week).

Even if the show cancels, Bongo has been printing Futurama comics the entire time the show went on hiatus.  I would hat to see the show go, but the comics are so good.

For the first thing, watch the Jimmy Neutron movie and then watch the first cartoon. Quality^n.

Also for the money he has, and all the treatment for prostate cancer, and the fact that he's not being a Steve about it, I'm fairly sure they'll get in with something like proton therapy. Or if it's TC, they'll cut off his balls and he's done.
