May I bump this?

I've made a playlist of some songs used or referenced to on the show. The compilation may be a litle weird, but as I'm listening to it now, it sounds pretty good! I'm going to mix it up with more futuramasongs (Poppler song, robot hell song, fry's opera,...)

you should Add Me First and The Gimme Gimmes' - Walking On Sunshine, for those who can't take the older version. Both are good.. But grape is more favorite.

Nice selection.

What about the song from Anthology of Interest 2!
I don't know what the title is but I believe David X Cohen says it's by The Miami Sound Machine!
And what about Angry Machine (a.k.a The hypnotoad) played over and over again!

Yes, will be added:

3acv18 Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine - Conga (Dance mix)

Added

I still think there have to be more songs from season 1 and 2.

And how long do you think the Hypnotoad sound should last?
3.5 mins OK?        :laff:

The problem is that all these songs are copyrighted!
And as a German in Bureaucratistan you'll can get very, very much trouble if you share it on the net!

You didn't recognized it in Bendin' in the wind?
Then take this as your anthem:

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme,
Remember me to the one who lives there,
She once was a true love of mine.

Tell her to make me a cambric shirt,
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme,
Without no seam or needlework,
She once was a true love of mine.

Tell her to weave it in a sycamore wood lane,
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme,
And gather it all with a basket of flowers,
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

Ask her to buy me an acre of land,
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme,
Between some water and the stand,
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme,
Remember me to the one who lives there,
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

The version of Paul Simon and Arthur Garfunkel is more complex than these main lyrics.

Wow, I didn't know that this german "joke" got so far around the world (Ok, London isn't that far)

Update!

Well I try to get this list completed, but I think there are so many refers to songs in our beloved show that you can hardly get them all.
If anyone wants to help, post it here (especially all Season 4 ones, cos I don't have the DVD's)

Also, can someone give me the title of the song that bender sings, when he is executed by good ol' Maggie in A tale of two Santas?
I found a version by Joan Baez (she sung it at Woodstock), but I don't know how this traditional is called.

Here the updates:
07. 1acv09 - Beastie Boys - Intergalactic *new*
08. 1acv09 - Beastie Boys - Super Disco Breakin' *new*
10. 1acv10 - James Horner - Titanic Theme *new*
27. 3acv03 - Joan Baez - Swing Low, Sweet Chariot (Woodstock version) *new*
36. 3acv19 - Johann Strauss - An der schönen blauen Donau *new*
40. 3acv22 - Cream - Sunshine Of Your Love *new*
47. 4acv11 - Eminem - The Real Slim Shady *new*

In other news:

I googled around for a Futurama songlist and found a "Ten years after" webpage.
There is said that the song "Year 3000 blues" << is the perfect song for fans of the TV show Futurama >>
(Scroll down to the album "Chricklewood green", or search for Futurama).

Can somone tell me how these lyrics are perfect for a Futurama fan? I don't get it.

Ten years after - Year 3000 blues

They took me down the grading station
And they classified me zed
'Cause of over population
They told me that I would soon be dead
But I slipped out of the force field
And hid beneath the monorail
But the automatic blood hounds
Lord, they're soon hot along my trail
Now if I had been a scholar
With computer working hard
Then my molecular structure
Would not be on the grader's card
So, I know that they will get me
Put my index in the brain
Then, the atoms of my body
Will be disposed of, Lordy, down the drain
They took me down the grading station
And they classified me zed
'Cause of over population
They told me that I would soon be dead

Bender sings "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" doesn't he?

It's a famous song in England, and pretty much became their national anthem for the period around them winning the Rugby World Cup.

Should have been obvious that this song is called "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot".

@moonbus69: Search in amazon.com for Simpsons in category popular music, and you'll get this. I hope this helps.

1. I would like to, but after I did some math:

We have 3 hours and 13 minutes of music at a bitrate of 128 kBit per second. (176 MB of mp3)
Seeing that my connection does a maximum upload of the same 128kBit (16kb), but reaches an avareage upload bandwidth of about 96KBit (12kb), gives a simple comparison:

The upload for each mail would at least last 3 h and 13 minutes, butt more like 4 hours.

2. I don't know if thre is any mail-service provider that has mailboxes that big. Most I know have a maximum mail size of 10 or 20 MB, but not 176!

So I think that won't work

back on topic.

I still think that this compilation isn't complete, there maybe still some songs from season 4 left (also some of 1-3). If anyone still has a song which has to be added, just post it here  ;)

Yes, I think they named that episode afer this song (I mean it seems obvious ?! )

In other news I found another version of this song.

Now I have
-an only arcoustic version by john fahey
-a children version sung by a guy with some children

Which is better?

And second: I will add 'Danny Boy' (sung by Zoidberg at Bender's funeral in A Pharaoh to remember), but also here I'm not sure which version:
-Elvis Presley (3:57)
-The Pogues (2:32)
-An irish traditional from the 30's (3:13)
-Sinead o'Connor (6:14)

Cos I prefer old and calm music I would take  Elvis or Sinead o'Connor, but the Pogues' version isn't bad either! What do you think?

I'll go with the Pogues, as it is lovely and short. If there's one thing I hate it's artists who drag songs on too long.
A Bicycle Built for Two is a very old song. It was old when the Chipmunks sang it, man! But it's a good one.

Sorry SJM for the late answer, but it took some time to find your suggestions in these episodes
(Sweet Georgia Brown is whistled by bender same as Duelling Banjos, although it was really short     ;) )
I found the Brother Bones  -  Sweet Georgia Brown (Harlem Globetrotters Theme) version
as well as versions by
  • the Beatles (really early recording, not the fab4) (2:07)
  • Louie Armstrong (4:01)
  • Glen Miller (2:48)
  • Ella Fitzgerald (3:32)

and two versions of Duelling Banjos:

  • an accoustic version with two Banjos (sounds crappy and is very slow) (3:23)
  • a live version  of Bob Dylan & Tom Petty (a really good piece of music, but beside the name hardly the same, I think) (7:30)

<german>Meinen Respekt an deinen Deutschlehrer</german>

But please be careful when saying such quotes in Germany.
Although Europe seems to be OK with doing little jokes about that, it is not heard with pleasure in Germany.

For example: A good friend of mine is a Jew. It's pretty normal for me and others to call him with the word jew, but it nearly got us into troubles when we called him that way in University. Everyone got us very angry looks, and not because we were distrubing the lesson.
