The picture of you sitting with the outlines of... well, that looks like Walt from Futurama, and... some sort of... cat-angel hybrid? Whatever it is, I like that picture. Those trees are nice, but what I really like is the "me and my imaginary friends" theme. It captures the beauty of solitude nicely.

I don't comment an awful lot on art threads, etc. But I had to say something about that picture. I think it expresses something hard to put words to, and it does a lovely job.

I completely agree with tnuk about your piece with the white outlines; it's very beautiful and moving. I've enjoyed all of your art that you've shared, but that one is my favorite. Excellent work, Lyra.

Also tnuk, the cat-angel hybrid is Joy, one of my oldest characters. I have a very large amount of feline characters.



If I may explain further, it was sort of meant to represent my feeling of isolation while I was going through my anxiety and agoraphobia. Around one year before I stopped going to school, I started getting very attached to fictional characters and fantasy universes. And when I was at my worst, I found myself particularly attached to Futurama. I liked it before hand, and I'd known of the forum for about two years, but never made an account.

Fry explains it well in Where No Fan Has Gone Before: "But most importantly, when I didn't have any friends, it made me feel like maybe I did."

As crazy as it sounds.

I drew this as one of three requests when I was up all night on the 31st of December 2012. It's a crazy tradition of mine to stay up all night on the 31st. My tablet was half broken for that entire night though, and this one of my oldest Futurama drawings on the computer. This year I'd like to re-draw all three requests.

There are a lot of very talented people around here. Personally, I'm surprised there's such a vast amount of them with such amazing drawings. I never expected a lot of people to be talented. But you are definitely one of those talented people, Lyra. Keep up the good work!

Ok, so this really isn't art, but I found it quite amusing. I changed the grass texture in a game-in-progress called Aro'kai, and this is what happened. Mom's sons grass.



And this is another one of the three request from last year's 31st of December. I was asked to draw Cubert and Dwight playing something, and I instantly found myself thinking of "World Of World War 2 3" from Overclockwise. So that's where this is from. I started the drawing at roughly 5:30 am, so I was pretty tired at the time, and the broken tablet wasn't exactly helpful, so I'm not really that happy with this now.

I think I messed it up with my colouring, but I drew my feline character Seth. This is one of my first tries at something a bit more realistic, and I think it came out ok

^ It is Aryl (Yep Lyra backwards) is much closer to the galactic center than Earth is. While on the subject, this is a map of the planet (Where all those cats live):



I do not know the first thing about designing a planet, so I'm assuming my geography is a bit ehh (Even though I take geography...). But I wanted to keep the original planet idea more or less. It's an idea I've had for a long time now.

The small island more or less in the middle of the sea between the largest continents is Insula Deorum. A while back I posted a drawing of a canyon I called "Somnium Abyssi." It is located on Insula Deorum. Most of my feline characters live on the island.

Right now, I'm only really working on developing this universe of mine, so I haven't really had much time to actually draw anything Futurama related. I'll see if I can scan some of my traditional drawings though.

Hello everyone! I haven't posted anything in this thread for a couple of weeks, I thought it was time I updated it.

Recently I've found myself distracted by a couple of other shows, so it's kept me away from the website for a while. I'll try to remember to post though

Anyone here happen to be familiar with Red Dwarf? If not, you're missing out on a great show! I've been watching since I was about 8. It's one of the shows that knocked, or re-captured my attention recently. Futurama and Red Dwarf were around at the same time for me last year, but I went down the Futurama route. Now that it's re-appeared, I've found myself rather fan-obsessed with the show. This was a drawing for Tumblr, meant to illustrate what was happening in my head. Walt fighting Rimmer in his first and second series uniform.


And last, my fake name "Lyra Somnium" has spawned it's own character!

This drawing is unfinished, but I thought I'd put it up anyway. Anyone else seen the episode "Quarantine"? I'm quite a big fan of Rimmer and his Mr Flibbles in the episode, so I drew this inspired from a Tumblr ask I received.

I don't normally comment on fan art since... well, what can one ever really say? But there is some absolutely beautiful stuff in here. Your designs are always inspired and the execution is nothing short of elegant. Your shading/colouring is getting better and better, too. Keep up the amazing work, Lyra!
