Here's a little something I'm working on now, from Prairie Rose by Ramon51. And I have fixed a few things since this scan was made. Like the gun. Some folks wouldn't be happy if I get the gun looking wrong. :)

Yes, that's Fry with the spittoon. 'But Fry's not a girl!', you cry. Just read the story, it's over on FM.

Heh. When fan-fiction diverges so far from the source material it ceases to be fan-fiction and becomes just plain fiction. :D

Good work though. Great movement and body shapes - so good, in fact, that the Groening-style faces and fewer-than-usual digits begin to look a bit incongruous - those cartoons aren't known for their strict adherence to the human form. Although that'll probably be less apparent when it's coloured in the traditional flat manner.

Action lines, 'BONG', the crumpling on the spittoon (and on the guy's face) are all golden :D "Fry's" right shoulder seems a little off; does the sleeve of the dress come up too close to the shoulder line? Perspective on the background/furniture looks very exact, good deal.

You're right, but in a universe full of paraboxes, that's a little less true. :)

Call her 'Phi'.  ;) Good call on the sleeve, I was trying to make it look like it was trailing behind the motion of her arm. That line could be a little shorter. Fresh eyes, always good.

Nae bother! Being opinionated is fun :p I got that the sleeve was trailing the arm; though I can't draw it myself, wouldn't you therefore expect to see some ruffling on the sleeve? As well as making the arm thicker and the shoulder rounder.

My words are slightly cruder than my drawings, so if it explains things better, I dun a quick, crude red line. It is a vanity at best, though designed to be helpful... :\

Yeah, like that. That's supposed to be an authentic 1800's-style dress she's wearing, called a 'walking suit'. Yes, really. :)  And it has shoulder pads, so the shoulder would be even bigger but not rounded like that. I will continue to adjust it.

More sketching! I found a cool-looking pose from some anime series, and had to steal it. :) Spoilered for those who may not have seen Rebirth yet.

The Leela on the left's face is kinda iffy. I think maybe it's what looks like the lack of a neck, or maybe the convex shape of it.

I agree. The Left Leela's face is weird. So is her leg. In fact, the whole left Leela is kind of screwy. Everything else is perfect and spot on, however.

Nice sketch Mr El. I like the concept and the poses.

What I will say is, as it stands the image looks a little flat. With the exception of one arm from each of the Leela's all of the action seems to be taking place in a single plain. This may just be me but it seems to be a little less dynamic than it could be. Perhaps a 3/4 view would serve the image better.

Then again may just be me and far to many years of reading comics.

I continue to sketch! Can't be bothered with the spoilers this time, nobody else is.

Still need to fix the rest of the crew, but the Leela's look much better.

Wow, your ability to express action in drawings amazes me! Do you start drawing the characters with a stick figure or you just draw the shape of the character right away?
El-Man

Neither, I tend to start with ovals. One or two for the torso (chest and hips), two for each arm and leg, and a circle for the head. Get the positioning and proportions more or less right, then start to refine the shapes into human form. Then add details like faces, hair, hands and clothing.

I shall try it asap, so far I've been doing stick figure then shape around it, your method seems easier though, thank you

El is my favorite Futurama fan artist, with FemJesse a close second and third place is tied by Coldangel and Marcus.

Freako is very talented and may climb in rank, but I've known him less than a year and have known the other artist almost as long as I've been on PEEL.

It just amazes me how well any of the artists namend (and several not named) can take a picture in their mind and make it look so good on paper (or monitor).  That is a talent that I don't have and wish I did.  So, in a way, this senile old man is just a tad envious of artists from all genres - sculting, painting, drawing, color matching - all of you are people endowed with a gift that I'd love to have.

Take care, fan artists.  Your efforts are appreciated by at least one person.

With the question being asked about what women would find erotic about F&L fanart in this thread, I thought I'd be getting answers like this:

Spoilered for safety 'cos it's kinda sexy, but still not showing anything R-rated.

So here is the idea I had anyway. Yes, I know Leela's hands are large, it's an attempt at foreshortening. That's also why Fry's head is larger than hers.

Should I continue?

I like it. There's a serious lack of sensual, emotional, non-gratuitously-explicit FxL art like that. (I liked Freako's one with them in bed and that little poem - you colored that one, right?)

However, not to be critical of the art, it's just that for some reason I don't like looking at the characters like Fry/Leela head on. They don't look "right" to me.

Of course, it's your drawing, so you can draw the characters any way you want...

Thanks. Freako did that initial original sketch at my suggestion, even though he said he wasn't into the 'lovey-dovey' stuff - I corrected, inked, coloured, and wrote the poem, which makes me responsible for the shippiness.  Not Freako, he would like to clearly state that for the record.  ;)

It is a tricky angle, showing Leela only slightly off-centre. We don't see much of her face front on in the show, except maybe when she's mad and staring someone down - certainly not gasping with pleasure.  :flirt:

Speaking of pleasure, I'd suggest that since she's in passionate ecstasy, her facial expression should look more "happy". Her mouth should still be open in the act of "gasping with pleasure," but maybe it should be more "smiling" on the edges?

Just calling it as I see it. I'm sure the final artwork will be excellent.

Just been looking around and you (El-Man) and Freako have some of the best artwork here that I have seen.  I like the fact that you draw the characters how they are instead of with an Asian flare...it is a big pet peeve of mine when people do this.  Leela is not Japanese so I don't like it when people draw her that way...et all (except Amy of course).

I also like the hand drawn art work as it shows considerable skill and I feel usually looks better than any computer drawn image.  Though I will admit, Freako's computer art looks amazing.

Keep up the good work.

No problem...I'm never short of compliments to people who deserve it. :)

Wish I could draw things half-way decent besides plant life/some landscape scenery.  But hey, maybe I might make my way into some of the PEEL group pics or something at some point.  That would be nice.

If I were to try and draw people, it would look like Fry's comic....lol

Now there's an enticing thought... ;)

I'll just try and view the picture without my mum walking through the door again... God that sounds sad coming from a guy whose a few days south of 25... Anyway, yes, I'm not sure how well I can critique because I really struggle with foreshortening, but otherwise I think I concur with what has been said already. I'm sure it'll end out fine either way :)
