You know, I just realized that I wish this show was more popular, so I could go around spoiling who dies and people would care, and maybe ban me like M0le or winna.  As it is, the only moderator who cares watched it before me.  Ah, well.

PS it's Wash

Well, I did my part and paid money to see it tonight.  I quite enjoyed the film.  Since Nerd-o-rama let the spoiler out alread, I'll say the only thing I didn't like about the film was Wash getting knocked off.  It seemed sort of random and pointless within the movie to me.  Maybe that's what they were going for, but I didn't care for it.

Sequals would be nice, but I think $85 million will be hard to come by.  Will they count DVD sales?  I have the urge to by the series DVDs after seeing the flick.

Alan Tudyk, the guy who plays Wash, said he approved of it.  I don't have the quote on hand, but he said that not only was he expecting Wash to get killed off eventually one way or another, I'm pretty sure he at least implied that he wanted it, as sort of an "all bets are off, we just killed the coolest person ever" sort of way.

He may have liked it, but I didn't care for it much.   Shepherd's demise was logical within the movie, you could see why it happened.  Wash's on the other hand seemed like it was a "Oh look, we killed one of the main characters!" moment, there only for shock value to fans.  It didn't seem to have any other relation to the story other than that which made it pretty tacky in my opinion.  Oh well, one stupid part in an otherwise fine film.  That's quite an accomplishment.

I watched the series before I saw the movie, so some of the things that were explained in the movie I already knew it sucks with the series it starts to get really interesting and its the end of last episode and Rivers characters is comeing out.

Downloaded the first episode of the series.  I deem this worthy of paying money for, even though it dragged a bit in places...but I suppose that happens when you watch 90 minutes of TV without commercials.

IMDB: your source for way too much goddamn information.

She was also in Cheaters and had a guest spot on SG: Atlantis.

First of all, Space Cases wasn't that lame.  It actually wasn't bad for a kids' show.  Second, she was kinda cute for a fourteen-year-old in a rainbow wig.

Question - the shot of the goldfish just before Mal finds Mr. Universe - I know that has to be an homage to something.  David A?

Eh, I was ten.  If she'd staid on the show another year - I just remembered, and IMDB confirmed for me, that she was replaced by her own invisible friend...or something.  Also, Mark Hammill, George Takei and Katey Segal guest starred at some point.

I don't remember it all that well, so it may have been less cheesy than I think.  Also, shouldn't you be defending animé and its associated PEEL threads?

Not to mention Danny Tamberelli and Michelle Trachtenberg, of Pete & Pete fame.  Space Cases was worth watching for the guest stars alone.  Also for the episode with the in-jokes that only Babylon 5 fans would get.

This is a thread about a show created by a man whose entire body of work consists of ripping-off anime.  I don't think that anime needs any defense here.

Point.  Although, in the case of Buffy and Angel, I concede the point because I'm not about to watch those enough to effectively argue with you.

Come to think of it though, the five minutes I've seen of Bleach did resemble the five minutes I've seen of Buffy.

I saw the pilot and maybe a few other episodes when Firefly originally aired on FOX. I wasn't into it at the time but maybe if I saw it now my opinion would differ.

I thought the first 4 seasons of Whedon's Buffy were FANTASTIC - well scripted, good dialogue, great theme music, it had all the elements. Then as the series went on the contradictions kept piling up more and more and what turned into well-scripted episodes became haphazard lines of dialogue that seemed at the very least forced. As far as Whedon's Angel is concerned, I watched it but felt indifferent on it. I mean, what can I say...it wasn't as humorous as Buffy, not as intriguing, and just seemed kinda dull and dry, whereas most of the early Buffy episodes were so fast-paced the episode would be over in the blink of an eye. Btw I have all 7 seasons of Buffy (if i got the first 4 might as well get the remaining 3...) but never got Angel on DVD. I don't remember much of Firefly, but if its dialogue is like that of old Buffy and the episodes seem to flow smoothly, then I'd probably like it.

interesting note: I also like Arrested Development...talk about anti-flowing smoothly lol!

also, Marc Blucas is hot.

Sounds like (even though I've not seen this yet) an homage to a scene from Third Rock from the Sun, where Dick swallows a live fish, and then feels incredibly guilty about it.

Of course, by the end of the episode, he's fine with the whole thing.

I bought the Firefly Dvd set last week and watch it first.

I must say that the movie really fit with the story and I really wish that Universal will continue the serie or make more movies!

Now that I've seen the entire series of Firefly, I'm set for the movie. Nerd-o-rama, you're a supreme C-word for spoiling the fact that you-know-who meets the Grim Reaper.... I've had to watch a whole series with that hanging over me, and now I'm goign to be on the edge of my seat when I get to the cinema, waiting to see it.

You utter bastard-o-rama.

On an unrelated note, the show itself is seventeen kinds of awesome, and I want with a fierce desire the likes of which this Earth has never known, to bone Inara.

Saffron, Kaylee, Inara, River, and Zoe are all hot. All bangable.

But Inara stands out above the rest.

She's a trained sexual professional for one thing, and for another, she's got that whole girl-on-girl scene with the councillor in "War Stories".

They're all gorgeous, but I have to go with Kaylee.  I just find geekiness adorable, especially when combined with actual intelligence.

Also, her "job interview" in Out of Gas was the greatest flashback ever.
