So we come to the end of the PEEL year. Merry Christmas to all of you, and thanks for participating. The poll provides a measure of anonymous feedback. If you liked the PEELies this year, feel free to say so. If you hated them, feel free to say that too. I have one final announcement: this is the last year I'll be running the PEELies. The torch will be passed to another for 2012, and I'm stepping down not because the job is actually a lot more work than you think until you have to do it, but because it's hard to please the majorty and impossible to please everybody. So I'm stepping down. I have recommended a successor to [-mArc-], and they've begun putting feelers out to see who they might gather unto themselves for a council next year. I have to say, I think that the artwork in particular was a huge success, and that this year has been certainly the biggest in terms of the volume of awards and honours handed out. The council deserve a huge thankyou for their work. Everybody who has recieved an award should be honoured. Everybody who was nominated should be proud. Everybody who didn't... it doesn't matter. On that note, if anybody has any final thoughts, they belong here. There will be no moderation of this thread for people's comments... but I and the other moderators will continue to delete spam. I shouldn't have to say it, but apparantly I do... because certain people refuse to post anything cromulent, yet insist on getting their +1's in. You know who you are. You suck. So if you've particularly enjoyed something, felt something was done well or badly, or felt any sort of a grievance with the proceedings this year, post it here. It'll all go to help the person who runs it next year make a good show of it. At the end of the year, I'll be asking [-mArc-] to pack up this subforum and lock it as an archive of the awards, like the ones for previous years. So you have a few days in which to have your say. Positive and critical comments are welcomed alike. Once again, Merry Christmas and I hope you've enjoyed this year's PEELies.

I wish there was threads for each PEELie, so we could comment on the winners and not just resort to the general discussion thread.

I thought it was run very smoothly (from our point of view anyway), I'm kind of shocked but also honoured that I won 2 awards and I've only been here since March (well, Jan 2009, but I got serious in March this year), plus I'm not entirely liked by everyone on PEEL.
But away from the personal stuff, 'twas good. I can't compare it to any other PEELies from other years, but yeah, I enjoyed it. Just seemed to go on for a while, that's all.

I would have rather won Best Avatar, but Biggest Attention Whore is good, too.
Maybe you should get a best avatar then.

I enjoyed the Peelies this year and thought things ran smoothly. The awards themselves are brilliantly designed and lots of love has gone into them. The council seemed to be very organised and knew what they were doing, and they weren't afraid to make decisive decisions which is good. I like how it's all on the wiki too. Good show peeps, thanx for all of the work put in!...

Not really final thoughts, but something that has be said anyway:
A lot of thought, work and effort went into the PEELies, and I would like to thank all those involved, sacrificing their spare time for this contest.

I was honoured by my secret award, although from tnuk's initial doodle it wasn't unexpected. And the one that I actually won a poll for, well, shocked is the word - hence the accusations of vote rigging which I completely withdraw.
Well organised, tnuk, and I'll see you on Wednesday.
Why would you even think vote rigging SoS I'm still trying to figure that out. I'll see you Wednesday too!!! I'm the most important part. I thought that the PEELies were very well done. Too bad tnuk is stepping down because not everyone is happy with everything. But it's impossible to do that. Yes there was drama but I think that there will be drama all the time and some people are just taking this too seriously. I love the trophies. Especially my purple one. I hope who ever is doing the PEELies next year does almost as good as this year.

Add my kudos for the brilliantly well done trophies; they were quite the deal. And overall the entire event ran very smoothly from my point of view.

Just to let everyone know: Josh has just informed me that he couldn't see some poll result like the one for Best Fanfiction Writer 2011. To avoid confusion: 3 polls should be blanked for everyone, Most Paranoid, Best Avatar & Most Entertaining (unless I am forgetting one). If any other is left blank for you more likely than not it is a glitch by PEEL caused by the polls being closed before their deadline and you not having voted in them. So if any is blank and you wonder, feel free to ask either here or in PM and I gladly give you the informations you want to know.

They seem to be not shown now, weird... They were definitely open when tnuk closed them, cause I checked all and he forgot one or two and fixed them. There seems to be going on something glitchy with PEEL

TNUK will still be around next year helping out, I'm sure (?). The design of those PEELies has become too much of a staple of our little shindigs.

Yeah, sorry about that. The polls are quite touchy-glitchy. If you don't have things in order properly, they got fuckabee-doo-lally. I've fixed those two. Let me know if there are others that are spazzing out. In most cases, they're simply trying to run out their initial timer (I set most of them for an automatic close on the 31st December to give myself time to sort them out properly, and to allow me to make sure the results stayed invisible). I've already figured out how to do quite a lot of fun things with the PEE Polls, but in some respects am still learning the functionality of PEEL 2 (and how to use it to the best advantage in things like games and contests). One day I'll put up what I've learned onto the wiki in a coherent form. For now though, I'm really still learning. Sorry about the odd glitch here and there. Just report them to me before the subforum closes and I'll put them right. Closing date will be the end of 2011. * tnuk swirls his cape and departs.

I just wanted to chide thank everyone who voted for me; I am shocked to have won as many PEELies as I did, or any at all. You are fools, all of you!
On a less self-involved note: I thought this year's PEELies were run smoothly and fairly. The Council members worked their butts off, and deserve major props (can I say "props," or am I not cool enough to pull such street lingo off?) for their effort. These things felt very, I don't know, ceremonious; maybe the PEELies are just a glorified popularity contest, but I admire how seriously those on the Council ran them.
Every aspect of the PEELies was alternately fun and scary, respectful and snarky, silly and serious--and I loved participating, and watching everything unfold. Awesome work, all.

I'd like to thank all the PEELers that participated in the PEELies this year. This being my 4th Council (that might be the most of anybody ... and I thought I wasn't in the establishment), it really does help to have the community lively and active in this process. We Council folk did a lot of work, but it would've been for nothing if you all didn't actually care about this little show of ours. I mean, who doesn't like winning awards for what others would describe as an anti-social activity?

I have four under my belt also. Two of them being this year and last year. Not literally under my belt. It would be hard to get a belt round myself *and* the entire council. Some of them are very fat. I have no idea what my point was.

I've never been on the council. Won a few here and there, but never been involved beyond a poll vote.
Possibly for the best, at that.

I didn't realize Leia actually left the board because of the Attention Whore Award. That's sad, I'm sorry she got so upset over that.
Neither did I, shame, but doesn't seem like a reason to leave Peel over. It wasn't that big a deal really ...

The irony is beautiful, isn't it. The general consensus seems to say that tnuk did a damn good job with this, which in itself is pleasing. I myself did far less than I should have this year, but as tnuk kind of explained I've been having a lot of trouble with my mental health recently and couldn't bring myself to do anything, ever. Huzzah!

Are you guys still talking about that? Some people are more sensitive than others. With a one year old just starting to walk she would rather focus on positive things in her life than spend hours trying to defend herself for something she didn't do. So really, everyone, just knock it off. The only reason any of you know that she left is because I said something, like it was pointed out, she didn't make a big deal saying I HAVE TO GO. MY PLANET NEEDS ME.
I don't know why certain people like to beat a dead horse. PEELies are done. If someone chose to take a break from PEEL regardless of what happened, it's nothing but sad, especially if someone was felt pressured/bullied into doing so.
TNUK I think everyone got their final thoughs out, I recommend the forum be locked.
