Fall Madness Semi-Finals: Philip J. Fry vs Bender Bending Rodriguez

We've finally come upon the Semi-Finals of Fall Madness 2011. We have two regional #1-seeds in this match-up between Fry and Bender. Who'll come out on top? Discuss now and the poll opens tonight at midnight.

Fry's had the most impressive run so far, defeating Mom and Zapp. He'll add Bender to that list because he's the best and most important character in the show.

You know, I think I may actually go with Bender. I've always thought of Fry as my second-favorite character, but the more I consider it, the more irritated I am by how he was portrayed in most of season six (the whining. God, the whining). Bender, meanwhile, has been a vehicle for some really nice stories (most notably "Lethal Inspection"), and even though he can be  unbearably cruel sometimes (I'll say it once more, for the record: he is almost irredeemably awful in "Ghost in the Machines"), he's still a really funny and nuanced character.

So, yeah. Looks like it might be a tough decision for me.

Definitely Bender, even more so since Fry kicked out Zapp.

Fry is just too stupid a character in 6B.

I feel like this is a toss-up. I really don't know who I'll vote for yet. I can't believe how difficult this match is!

Very tough, but Fry is better overall. Less annoying, has better eps about him. Yeah, Futurama started off as Fry's ride and I'm still with him...

Difficult decision:
Bender delivered a more constant performance, while Fry had some of the beste episodes.

It's season 6B Fry I dislike (and I also do not get why they made a big fuzz of Fry being the most difficult character to write with: Sure, he settled in in the 30th century by now, but he still is the one with the most profound 20th century knowlege. So he can still use that knowledge to "save the day" ("Big Piece of Garbage", "When aliens attack") as well as to provide a link to the viewer. I do not see a reason why the early season storywriting is no longer possible.
