Fall Madness be the tourney here today;
A single-elim comp that's quite a ball.
It shall go on for as long as it may,
Hopefully that does not mean 'til next fall.

Six score and eight characters will enter,
But which shall stand tall and be the better?

Yes, Fall Madness 2008 was about PEELers; and Fall Madness 2003 was episodes, while Fall Madness 2004 was about Futurama Characters, but nearly all of that one is lost forever.

Fall Madness 2008 was about Posters of the Month, not just regular ordinary PEELers. You would be ineligible to compete if we repeated it now.

Y'know, I think we have enough elegible people to make "PEELie Winners" the theme for next year.

Edit: Just counted. So far there have been 103 winners. I'd say that by this time the year after next year, there should be 128, and therefore enough for a full set of brackets.

Fall Madness 2011

This year's Fall Madness will pit 128 Futurama characters against each other. The 128 characters have been split into 4 regions of 32, each named after their #1 seeds: Fry, Bender, Leela, and Farnsworth.

Each match-up will be head-to-head and last for three days. Polls will close at midnight Eastern Time on the third night. Poll results will not be revealed until the poll closes. There will be a day break between blocks of match-ups to assure no ties. Early blocks will include 8 match-ups, with blocks dwindling to 4 match-ups for the Rounds of 32 and 16, 2 for the Final 8, and then just one for the Final 4 and Overall Finals. The Final 4 and Overall Finals will last for four and five days each. Thus, the competition should end by December 13th, save tie-breaking.

From hence forth, this thread will work as a general discussion thread for the competition.

I say the 4 seeds will each win their groups, or at least 3 of them will, depending maybe only on what group Amy is in.

The competition is to find, in the opinion of the show's fans, the greatest Futurama character. This can be viewed as the best overall character, the fans' favorite, the funniest, etc. As such, vote with whatever criteria that you feel is pertinent and important to you.

In theory, you could also just vote for a spoiler candidate. However, if you want this competition to create a consensus as chosen by the fans, you should shy away from this practice. That being said, I would find it quite entertaining if the Overall Finals were Michelle versus Washbucket.

Are you very surprised?  Perhaps you should notice how each match is between a popular character (appearing in many episodes, etc.) and non-popular character (appeared once or twice).  There are no interesting matches.
