Why is DrThunder ineligible? Why does ic weiner make all the rules?

If we're going to say it's a true poster of the month, meaning the best poster of the month, it should include everyone. If DrT is the best of the month for 2 months in a row, then oh well.

No rules means no rules. Dont make it up as you go along. If I start the poll next month can I say that we're going back to how it was before Fall Madness?

We said that the only rule concerning past winners would be no back-to-back wins. It's not like you have to wait another 7 years to nominate him or anything, it's just one month. Plus, if you truly believe he deserves to be the poster of the month, why should it matter that there is a rule or not? A rule should be no hindrance in the face of what you truly believe; the rule is only there to dissuade people from constantly nominating the same person and the same person constantly winning, not to attack the previous month's winner and their credentials.

Plus, if you truly believe he deserves to be the poster of the month, why should it matter that there is a rule or not? A rule should be no hindrance in the face of what you truly believe; the rule is only there to dissuade people from constantly nominating the same person and the same person constantly winning.

That sounds a lot like the logic behind the original rule of "you can only win once." You had to know that the same person would constantly win if you did away with that rule...

If we're doing "no rules" lets make it no rules. I've never seen this mentioned before until now, after DrT won his 3rd. It seems like it just came out of no where because of that. Why hasn't that rule been posted every month?

I think it was the second month of "no rules" POTM that we decided on the "no back-to-back" rule. I feel it's a fine compromise between the "no rules" and "rules" camps. If a poster truly is the poster of the month and they are ineligible that month, that still gives them the opportunity to win 6 times in one year, which would be simply an amazing feat. Would you rather have somebody who deserves it have a maximum of six wins in one year or one win in six years?

I could actually care less. What I want to know is where do these rules come from? By "we" decided who do you mean? Because I dont remember a discussion about it and I certainly don't remember a consensus being reached. It seems like whoever is the first to post a "rule" regarding this tradition is the "we" and for some reason everyone follows along.

In the October 2008 POTM, I proposed the "no back-to-back" rule. There was no outcry about it, not even from you. But fuck it. It seems that I'm the only one who brings it back every month, and it seems that you all think I've ruined this. Fuck it, let it die, if that's what you all really want. Who elected The Batman?

I agree... km and frisco have been solid posters.  I have to wonder why I'm on your list though.... I'm pretty sure that I'm only capable of starting trouble and ruining things.

As for the no rules thing.... I will continue to follow our original rules; those were agreed upon with reason, and they worked very well.... but obviously I can control this no more than anybody else, so I'll just nominate and vote for people by the rules that I consider best.  That said, other than it being against those rules I just described, I have no qualms with DrThunder88 winning 9 months in a row.... He's a great guy, hilarious, and all around awesome; and if it brings a smile to his face, then I think it's a good thing.  If I'm not super lazy, I'd like to edit that wiki thingy to reflect that DrT won last month.... note that I may in fact be that lazy.
