What, is your "New Poll" button broken?

I think you guys made i_c feel bad what with all the nominations for ineligible PEELers.
In the October 2008 POTM, I proposed the "no back-to-back" rule. There was no outcry about it, not even from you [Bear]. But fuck it. It seems that I'm the only one who brings it back every month, and it seems that you all think I've ruined this. Fuck it, let it die, if that's what you all really want. Who elected The Batman?
If you all were so interested in having a POTM for February any one of you could've made a poll for this, tried to sort out the mess that this thread became. Every month it seems that I'm the only one that brings it back, and you're general lack of interest in creating the poll yourself indicates that you really don't care yourself if this continues or not. I'll open a poll alright, but it'll be to decide which rules set to follow from hence forth.

It may just be time to put the whole PoTM to rest.  Each month the fighting seems to get sillier, while the apathy gets greater.

I voted for original rules, and I agree that currently "PotM" may not seem like a big deal, even a pointless diversion. But I don't agree with that. Down the road, in a few years, people can look back and say "yeah, I won PotM in **" and feel a little proud. I'd like to see my favourite people like Bianca here get recognized. It's something at least...it's something...and I don't think it should die.
But for it to continue successfully, I think we can only do with the original rules.

No rules. No limits. No-holds-barred bare knuckle competition.

The "original rules" gradually accreted over time, and were pretty arbitrary anyways. I say that we scrap them, and and just wing it. Otherwise, it's pretty boring, and it gets hard to choose people who haven't already won who are worth voting for.

Perhaps we need a new popularity contest round here. POTM and the PEELies have nosedived, and there are precious few of us left who remember why they were great in the first place. Maybe the new popularity contest should be sdome kind of thread where we just post the name of the PEELer we love the most at the moment, and then some kind of reason for it. Just to make that person feel special. Kind of like the mindless praise thread, but more mindless and less about praise for a job well done, more about love for being here.

Maybe.

I'm not saying I'm always right, but people really ought to listen to me. I'm fucking clever. :p

I vote for Bear all the way. But only because I hate him/her/it.

I actually can't really believe Bear hasn't even won yet.

So, any choice we make means the POTM for February go to boring, procedural falderal?

Yes! Lets have more of "boring, procedural falderal"... No, wait. The other thing!

P.S. What is "falderal" anyway?

Well, there you go.

It looks like I've found this week's Hobbitboy's Word of the Week.

Though I must say that I think I'll use the "folderol" variant.
