The post preview/edit box is now four times as wide as my monitor, causing the text that would normally appear over four or five lines to need to be scrolled across to read in the preview. I'd hazard a guess that something you fixed when adding back the smilies is responsible.
Unless your monitor is only 145 pixels wide, it might be due to the specific topic you're browsing. I've observed the problem in this thread, due to some images posted being rather wide. You can tell if it's case by scrolling down into the topic summary below. It's definitely something I can fix, since it works in the normal topic view, but I just wish to confirm that the preview box is not consistently large. For instance, I see a normal one in this thread.

Excellent, because that just means I know what the error is, and how to fix it. I shall look into this later.

This is not a legitimate complaint, but I do find the (new, I think?) "Total Time Spent Online" metric on the poster stats page rather...sobering.
I have apparently spent 193 days, 17 hours and 49 minutes of the past almost-20 years bumming around on PEEL (which I suppose excludes all the times I was browsing the boards while logged out of my account). That simultaneously seems like too much time and not nearly enough.

Now I want to complain. As I browse my stats, I notice the PEELies activity board. I cannot believe that the 2009 presentation that I hosted is still online. How long have I been hosting the Infosphere? How long has this server been running!?

Now I want to complain again—that I lost the 2009 Best Comeback PEELie to FYP. What a sham!

< Tachy looks> The profile page is looking pretty slick! Also, I had no idea I created 16 polls. I was thinking maybe 4 or 5. The stats on my profile page (which looks quite nice now; excellent upgrade) say I've only spent ten days, one hour, and thirty-seven minutes total here since 2005. That feels like far too little time. I feel like I lived here back then.
I guess I really was living here. Total Time Spent Online: 210 days, 9 hours and 33 minutes. And sorry about slacking so much in the Birthday and PEELiversary threads. I'll try to pop in there and update more often.

Forgive me if this is somehow related to the width issue above and I'm missing it, but I was composing a reply in the medical thread tonight when I noticed that my text continued off the right edge of the window. I enlarged the window to roughly 4000x900 and it just keeps on going. It appears that word-wrap is not functioning when composing a post. I've only tried with Firefox 113.0.2 (64-bit).

I seem unable to reproduce the issue you describe. In Firefox, there is an icon in the lower right corner of the textarea input, that allows you to change the size of the input box. Maybe you have some sort of extension or setting, that prevents the word/line wrap?
Your description seems to suggest, that it has only occurred in a single topic for you so far, and thus not others?

So I was very excited to see the "Insert Quote" function return to the post preview page...until I went to go use it just now and realized it doesn't actually work. Not a big deal by any means, but figured I'd bring it to your attention, Svip!

Hm, I am unable to reproduce that. It works for me. It even inserts the quote where my cursor is.
In fact, when I first noticed it was back myself, I thought Gorky would be pleased to see it back. Strange, you cannot get it to work. Any particular set up for your browser? What browser are you using? Perhaps your browser is still caching the old JavaScript, perhaps you need to do a cache refresh (CTRL+SHIFT+R).

My recollection is that it happened twice last night, but it's not happening as I type this reply. I'll do some tests in that thread later today, and if it occurs again I'll also check with a different browser. And to be quite clear, the comments and "complaints" I post here are purely to help people enjoy this little message board of ours. I'm thrilled that PEEL lives on and that you continually tinker with it to make it better.

I know this topic is called complaints, but I always find PEEL to be a little tongue in cheek. Do not think, I feel offended. Reporting bugs is pretty important.

Indeed. I've been doing QA, professionally, since around 1975, and 99.44% of the dreams I've had throughout my life have been problem-solving dreams. I won't ever stop reporting bugs until I'm dead—if even then Having been in positions where I've dealt with continual feedback on problems, even on teams where everyone gets along well and appreciates the work I do, it's still nice to get a ping of tangible appreciation once in a while. It recurred just now, quoting Tweek as I was composing a post in the biking thread. I typed a few lines, did some editing, then placed the cursor approximately in the middle of my text and hit the quote button on the previous post, Tweek's. Image attached. This is on a tiny monitor so it's not as dramatic as when browsing on my 3440x1440 monitor. Image spoilered.

I am suddenly reminded of this piece of historical PEEL content. Edit: Oops. The link's broken. Nevermind.

C'mon, you just want more views for the cute MLP version of you that Xan posted on that page Ah, that is the same error as the other one. Javier Lopez's image is huge.
Glad to know it's the same anomaly, Svip. And to echo others, having the "Insert Quote" links back is great, and saves me the bother of duplicating a tab before smashing the quote button.

Thinking of Xanfor's complaint, this is the earliest archived PEEL topic I could find, and he's right. Today's threads are wider!

It should work properly again, although it might look different than it used to do. I cannot speak to the quality of the results, though.

Anecdotally, Peel search has never returned the results I ask for, in the order intended, so I haven't noticed any differences with Peel 3.0. It returns results, then I slowly scroll down the results and hope to find what I'm looking for.

Has she checked her spam folder? When I attempted to register my account, I did get an email.
Looking through the new accounts, I notice that a few members have registered, but all the ones using Gmail have not been activated. My suspicion is that Gmail blocks emails from peelified.com.
Unfortunately, getting Google to do anything about this sort of thing is usually an uphill battle, since they don't really give a shit. I'll try looking into it. In the meantime, I can only suggest not to use Gmail. It appears Outlook.com and Yahoo.com can receive it just fine.

Well, I changed my email to an outlook email. Now I just need to remember that it exists, and that I changed it, and I need to remember the password. In the future, note that it's possible for me to manually activate an account. In case you do not wish to re-register.
Somebody who hasn't got an account to post here with might have trouble putting in a request without asking somebody who *has* an account to do so.
