Our HDD filled up with backups.
Better than all of the backups disappearing, I suppose. When PEEL wasn't available earlier, I honestly thought you'd finally gotten bored and pulled the plug for good. It's nice to have been wrong about that.

Is it just me or is the PEELocalypse finally starting? On and off I've recently been having trouble accessing peelified.com in particular, every other website I regularly visit is fine. "This webpage is not available" or "The server cannot be found" or something along those lines, whenever it does happen. Is this the fabled beginning of the end we are but yet to witness? So long jerkwads! You’re a pimple on society’s ass and you’ll never amount to anything!

I've not noticed any particular problems accessing Peel. Once in a while I'll see the "SITE BACKUP IN PROGRESS" message and try again in a few minutes and it's fine. The next time it seems slow to you, try accessing http://www.gotfuturama.com and http://wiki.peelified.com and see if you notice any slowdowns there.

Does any know how to get a former account back online to peel? Is this where you go to ask, just wondering?

I'm guessing that you already tried the forgot your password option, or that the email address associated with your original PEEL account is now defunct? Also, I had no idea that PEEL had a secret question option for recovering from a forgotten password. In any case, I don't recall choosing/answering a secret question when registering, and there's no trace of such in my personal passwords file.

I'll have a word with our creator. Who might the former account be?

I asked Tweek to move your issue here, as it's the only thread the site owner checks with regularity. Please don't spam the thread, thanks.

Unless you're requesting them to be unbanned , in which case, sure what reason why not to?
I'm one of my favorite trolls, but I also enjoy superfry, ultra.porn, and early totalnerduk was pretty great.
I'd also like to dedicate this moment in loving memory to Bear.... had I been able to have actually done something, I would have wanted to. He was an active and beloved member of this community, if I really cared about forums for dead scifi cartoons, at least to me he was, and I thoroughly enjoyed his company no matter when he was, and really that's pretty much the most positive thing I can say about anyone. Host Peelies in heaven Bear, you did helluva job down here! <3
I was accidentally about to finish my post with something like <log^e. I don't even know what that evaluates to, but I guess lowercase e is like three.

Winna was devil's advocate. TNUK/TNUC prepared me for life outside this place. I see people try to troll on other forums like facebook groups and I find it laughable. And yet people still get offended. They wouldn't have lasted 2 hours here ha.

Can I be admin now, [-mArc-]¿ Also, can I have ftp access, also¿ I don't have much else to do, and if we make peel about ri k and marty also, we can get some more members It's at least a three step plan, and I think I've proven that I neither break things, or take it too far. I think futurefreak would actually agree with me on this, since she is a moderator. I'm also planning to put peel down on job resumes¿ k thx!

Yeah, trolling did use to be an art form maybe a decade ago. Now it's just people pretending to be racist or sexist on social media.
The glorious heights of trolling dates back into much more ancient times, when its inventors Waldorf and Statler rightfully rose to fame as the genres megastars.

It's been reported that Peel's password reset function is non-functional, in that you can click the link on the front page and work your way through the process, but eventually displays "we don't do that sort of thing" and the user says that they did not receive anything in their email. I didn't dare to go all the way and type in my own account name. I've IM'd the user to ask permission to enter their username so I can get a screengrab of the actual message/form/popup that Peel displays.
update: Slimmy says that the password reset function is working fine, and we're working to get her fixed up.
She just txted me that she got the reset link sent to her after Slimmy initiated it.

This isn't a complaint, per se, but it's something that's happened to me a few times now and I'm wondering if I'm the only one: my PEEL display time keeps getting knocked off by an hour, such that it'll be, say, 20:00 where I am, but PEEL thinks it's 19:00. I can easily fix this by going to Profile->Look & Layout Preferences->Time Offset and clicking "auto detect," but I'm wondering if it's user error or just a glitch in the system that keeps making the time go screwy in the first place.

That was my initial thought, but the most recent occurrence was only a couple days ago—after I’d already made the DST changeover using the process I described above—which is why I’m wondering if it’s just a glitch. It’s not a big deal, but I was just curious if I’m the only one experiencing it.

Hmmm, that's the first link I click, and I've not caught it failing to present me with unread posts. Every once in a while I have caught myself missing the "Unread posts since last visit" link and clicking "New replies since last visit" by mistake.

Wow, this whole conversation makes me wonder if my method of browsing PEEL--just indiscriminately clicking on those sub-forums and threads that are showing new posts, all willy-nilly--is somehow flawed.
Seriously, the only oddity I notice when cruising the boards is that I have to click through every thread with a new post before the main page will show the telltale muted blue Planet Express logo that means there are no new posts in that sub-forum. I'm sure this is a feature, not a bug, but it still occasionally tricks me into thinking a brand new post has been made in between the time it took me to scroll through one sub-forum and return to the main page.
