Wow, this whole conversation makes me wonder if my method of browsing PEEL--just indiscriminately clicking on those sub-forums and threads that are showing new posts, all willy-nilly--is somehow flawed.
Yes. You're bad, and you should feel bad:
- Click the "Unread posts since last visit" link.*
- Watch the list of links to unread posts populate the page.
- Middle-click each link in the list, top-to-bottom.
- Watch each middle-clicked link open its own new tab.
- F5 to reload the page, showing any new posts since you clicked the links.
- Middle-click any new links which show up, F5, repeat as necessary.
- CTRL-TAB to the first one.
- Read new posts on the page.
- Close the page you're reading, using your fave method (CTRL-W, ALT-F4, hunt for and click the little "X", or my fave: middle-click the tab to close it.
Using this method, all the tabs are loading in the background while you're still reading the first one. Ergo, NO WAITING for the next link to load before you read it! Easy. Peasy. Clearly superior.
*I actually middle-click the unread posts link, creating the lists of posts in an adjacent tab, saving the main page for hitting F5 to reload on occasion.
