Hey, is it too much to ask for a new avatar for me? This Frida Waterfall is the default one provided by PEEL, and I have used this one for the past four and a half years! I attempted to make my own avatar once, and used it for like a month or two, but the edges were too crudely done so I dropped it. I haven't even used an avatar featuring a Frida Waterfall in "Into the Wild Green Yonder"!

Is it too much to also ask for a Christmas version of the avatar in celebration of the season?

I'd like to see that second frame avatarized, just for kicks. If done right it could be an interesting alternative.

Aw I'm gonna miss this elf of mine after Christmas Next year if I can, I wanna try the glasses one color, like green, and maybe the letters red. I think it will look normal then, my initial suggestions were a little off.

I'm still somewhat too dumb to get how to do transparent backgrounds in the GIMP (just used the select by color tool for this one), but this is what I did so far:

It'd be nice if someone here specialized on avatar creation (Booze! Where are you?!) could finish the job.

This is kinda funny. I'm always doing lots of  hard GIMP work  with lots of windows opened on this old P2 350MHz machine. Probably because it's my chatting machine and then I'm starting to PEEL because I can't resist these PEEL links, and then I'll go through PEEL and do stuff like this, heh.

Personally I'd do a scan of the picture in a new layer, fill in the colors, and presto, you have a transparent background.  You could use the pen curves or whatever in GIMP to achieve clean lines, but personally I usually use a different vector format that's less time consuming and more intuitive.

It is.  In fact, most scanning tutorials will tell you to use things like pen tools which are essentially vector tools and beyesian curves.  I do all of my work in vector format first, export at a large size to raster, and then resize back down to the 64x64.

It's from this show called EUReKA on SyFy (hence the logo at the bottom right)  they had a Christmas special a couple of weeks ago.

Crashing over Eureka, a wave of color changes the town to animation of multiple styles and cartoonish effects

Decided to screw around in Photoshop and made these:



I'm not sure I dig the boldness and unclearness of these but maybe it's just me. Part of me likes these at the same time...I've had my current avatar since... Hell, pretty much since I started here and I want something to better ID my gender. I'm unsure if I want one of those or one I've made from my own art: or something that resembles me. Thoughts? Suggestions?
