It's not a stupid question.  There's been a little more confusion since P22L came along, and the question has been asked a few times.

Anyways.... now users can upload their own avatars, but they have to have permission first.  If you had a custom avatar when we switched from Peel 1 to Peel 2, then you already have that permission.  If you didn't, then you need to ask for it.... more specifically, I'm one of three people who has the ability to give you that permission (of course.... getting ahold of mArc and slimmy to fill your avatar needs is a rather fleeting idea; hence why I'm here). 

So the first part is that you have to ask for it.... the second part is somewhat a requirement test.  Will you upload avatars that fit to Peel standards?  So when a new person asks to get avatar permission, I ask them to present the avatar they wish to upload at the time.  If the avatar passes my lengthy objective analysis, then they get the permission to upload it (which will show up in your Peel profile where you normally change avatars; an option to upload your own will show up).  After you have the permission, you can change your avatar as many times as you like.... but if you change it to something that I believe doesn't fit the avatar specifics, I'll contact you about fixing it.

The requirements for avatars are that they are 64x64 pixels.  They must be either .gif or .png.  They need to be of a small file size.... I'm willing to slide a little on that rule -- 2 to 3 kb is the sweet spot.... I'm pretty sure I'd easily be willing to see 9 kb.  They also need to be transparent, and are preferred if they are cartoonish.  Lastly, on a subjective basis, I need to think they look good... ie, they're not rough around the edges, etc.

So... if you want the permission right now SonicPanther, I'd ask that you present an avatar you wish to upload right now.

I like Books' new Amyraffe avatar. Much nicer than the creepy disappearing cat-man.

I might decide to churn out a bunch of avatars from ITWGY at some point in the near future, but that might make me switch from my dragon. I like my dragon.

Also, we desperately need for you to be able to upload to the pool, winna. There are no new movie avatars in there! How can we be the Mercedes of mesageboards without pointlessly luxurious trim??

I like Trickster's versions better than Shepherd's.  If you flip the image, Mello's scar ends up on the wrong side.
