You cannot have more than one custom avatar at the same time. However, you can have an avatar stored as a custom avatar and use one of the pool avatars at the same time.

Does Xanfor come here still? I have a question

I have downloaded GIMP portable, but I don't have a clue as to how to size a picture. Xanfor (or Gopher, if you know how) how do I size it down to Any size. Plus, what is the necessary Avy size?

You can set the canvas size when you start a new image.  If you're resizing the picture I suggest you get another program called Irfanview, it's freeware and it's a great tool.  Go to Image and click resize/resample and change the dimensions in the dialogue that pops up.  It's similar in Gimp, but you have to resize the picture, move it, and then resize the canvas; I'm pretty sure that's all in the Image button on Gimp as well. 

You need to look up a tutorial on paths (use Google) if you're going to use Gimp, and learn how to use layers.  The paths will make your surrounding lines smooth, basically you'll trace the image at normal resolution, fill in the colors, delete the old image (the bottom layer), save, resize in Gimp, save as a .gif and then pick a transparency color when you save.

The Avy size on PEEL is always 64x64.

Are any of the artists who can turn real photos into decent Futurama-style cartoons still on the scene? I'd do it myself but I have neither a scanner to input the hand-drawn ones I did, or a graphics tablet to recreate them in cyberspace.

I also have the money to purchase neither.

Ok, I downloaded Irfanview. I sized the pictures to 64 64. But how can I zoom in on them without messing with the quality. The bigger I make it the worse the quality.

Those are all the right size.  The reason it looks skewed is because before you resized, it wasn't the same dimensions (can't think of a better way to say that)... 64 x 64 is a square right?  If you resize something that isn't a square into a square, it has to skew things to make it mesh well.  You can fix this by cropping the image before you resize it.  In irfanview, user your mouse and click on the image and drag to make a box... You want that box to be as close to a square as possible while holding the most of your image as you can, preferably with as little negative space (area that isn't a part of your image) as possible... Then I believe it's in Edit there should be something that says crop image. 

Did you make those scans yourself?  They're decent, but if it were me, I'd probably play around with them more.  I really like the lines to be as smooth and noticeable as possible, but I'm a perfectionist, and obsessive something or other... and well... looks like you've got a good set of tools and skills to help you along.

Yes, I made those myself. About a month after BBS release I made a dozen avatars from the movie. Also thanks for the help I'll try it soon.

Very simple.... open them with irfanview, then save as a .gif, then pick the transparent color (white).  And bam, you're done.

Btw... no more skins avatars in the future Juliet.  mArc set out some pretty straight forward guidelines in the other thread for future reference.
