So, you have all seasons on DVD? You wonder what to do this weekend? May I suggest a... Futurama-marathon! No true Futurama-fan can go through life without having survived one! The rules are simple; buy loads of pizza, snacks, and coffeinated drinks, and commence watching! NO breaks! It took us from 5 pm thursday night to friday at midnight to watch ALL episodes in a row... but we didn't manage a first-class marathon, we HAD to take a 4-hour break for some sleep at 6 am... and only 3 out of 6 people actually managed to endure the entire marathon... Now I'm curious if you can do it better! (A tip is to skip the credits, that will save you a few hours, and to start watching directly in the morning is probably also a good idea...) Can you beat 31 hours? Do you have what it takes? Gather some people, and please tell me how it went!

I've already done that albeit abit differently. I waited until I had all the seasons, then proceeded to watch them in production order, first without the commentaries and then with them. Nowadays I watch random episodes with the commentary on most of the time; I always thought to myself that if I continually watched the eps over and over than I would quite quickly get bored of the jokes etc.. and I never get tired of hearing the cast and creators joking about there own show.

I have thought of such a thing although the large space of time required does seem daunting. But it will be a prospect I will entertain, once I have all the four seasons safely on DVD.

The shortest you could do it in is about 26 hours. about 21.5 mins. per episode, times 72 episodes = 1548 mins. = 25.8 hours.
Theoretically, you could skip the credits, but that would only make up for bathroom/food breaks. If you skipped the credits, you would have time for a 5 minute break every 5 hours. Plus, you do have to sleep, unless you have a good, strong, readily available source of caffeine.
I don't know if I could do a straight, no-long-break Futurama-marathon. maybe a few hours at a time. Maybe over a long weekend, i could do about 1 season each day. But all 72 episodes in one dose? I doubt it.
Plus, it's no fun alone. And my friends are all sick of Futurama (thanks to me).
Also, I would have to move our DVD player into the basement. Our house is very open, enough so that if I was watching it at a reasoable volume, it would keep my parents awake.
Also also, I'm not very good at staying up late. Usually I fall asleep while watching Futurama at 11:30 on [adult swim]. Unless I'm siting completely upright, and it's very cold. And I don't like coffee that much, so I'd need an alternate source of caffeine. Maybe green tea...
With all these arguments aside, I'll start tomorrow!
not really, I only have season 1. Season 3 is on it's way (once it's realeased). i don't have 2, and season 4 isn't out yet. (damn region 2!)

I feel sorry for all you region-1 people out there, I've had all episodes on DVD since before X-mas... Some more tricks I thought of to make it less difficult; in seasons 3 & 4 you could choose "play all", and that saved us some time. Definitely skip the credits. Don't have any food breaks, eat it all in front of the telly! (oh, and maybe one of those bathroom-chairs that Homer Simpson invented would be useful... ) Donīt do the marathon alone, then you won't have anyone that can pinch you when you start looking tired. And change seats with each other after every episode. Drinking cold water helps you stay awake, but don't eat too much, that will only make you sleepy! Another tip is to have "Futuramathon-Wannabees" coming over now and then to watch some of the episodes, that will make the environment less static. Hmm.. what else... don't drink alcohol unless you intend to drink it throughout the marathon, as soon as the alcohol level in the blood decreases you will become tired. And keep talking to each other, making notes like "Hey! Bender just spoke french (pretending to be Napoleon), but they say it's an extinct language in a previous episode!". Anyone else have any good ideas how to stay awake?

Make sure you have a box of matches handy, for those of you who have watched Mr Bean sometime in your life you know what I mean. If not, they make good eyelid rests.

I'm in the East Midlands, Northampton to be exact. My brother is visiting this weekend and we've agreed to a marathon. A large snack trip to Tesco is now planned. I'll let people know how it turns out Sunday Evening..... if I can type by then!!!

I'm hardcore enough! I just have to wait 2 more days for season 3 in the U.S. Which is where I live . But I have a little advice to those who wanna do the all nighter thing. Keep ALOT of fresh ice cubes around to put done your back. Gives you that "HOLY CRAP! THAT'S FREAKY , AND FEELS WEIRD!" surge.I'll have to do it during April holidays or the next long weekend. I think I could last. And my friends will be wondering why I haven't said a word to them.
