Keep up the effort peeps, write real letters too (you know pen and paper stuff), this is more likely to have an impact.

Amazing, in just the few seconds it took to write my name and summit it 13 more signatures came. Looks like a good start.

And now I'm of to buy beer with my veterans discount card.

I have signed two different Futurama petitions today, plus, I'm currently writing a letter to FOX (which I probably won't send at all, but hey, at least it feels good!  :))

I signed it too, under a different more realistic name. I am also writing a letter and will do everything I can to help get it back. I t seems that loads of people have already signed which is encouraging.

If we have multiple email addresses under multiple aliases, should we sign more than once?

In my case it wouldn't.  My penmanship is horrible.  Think like a doctor's only worse.  The Fox execs wouldn't be able to read it at all.  Much better that they get a nicely typed letter from me.

Then write two letters.  A vent-your-rage letter that you keep for yourself (to help you get rid of any bile you need to spew) and a polite "please don't cancel Futurama" letter that the Fox execs will get.

All too true.  Listen to the wisdom of Cornfed:  "You're aware that while it affords one the momentary illusion of satisfaction, the spewing of bile is never a permanent solution."  (Sorry, just feeling nostalgic for another animated fav of mine cut off in it's fourth season, before it's prime.)

And that's the first 1000 signers.

Some mildly offensive comments, but I guess that's to be expected. I hope they'll be kept to a minimum. Or can they be edited out before shipping the petition to FOX. Now this is not an endorsement of censorship, but calling FOX retards etc. while asking them for something hardly works in favour of the cause.

Edit: Hmmmm, Mr. Futurama Sucks Ass doesn't seem to be a fan. Maybe he is from the FOX forums.

i doubt they actually check the validity of the email adresses so why not just use a fake one.

You know that "one-a-minuute" posting program that brough PEEL down? can you use a variation of that on the petition?

If someone can find a copy of the program, that is.

I think they're already here. Just a couple of minutes ago there where 47 lurkers at PEEL. That's the highest count I've ever seen. Now if only they would join.

Whatever we like to think, online petitions have little affect on the companies they're aimed at. Unless we can PROVE 100% that all the undersigned people are REAL, there are NO duplicates, etc... it doesn't matter if we have 1000 or 1 000 000 names there.

The stuff that DOES matter are those real letters and polite emails we can send to FOX. And of course just getting publicity for our efforts to save this great show.

Perspective: To represent 1% of the American population, we'll need almost three million signatures.

This is all very encouraging but we will need about 50,000 sigs to make a difference. I'm not saying we won't get there, I'm just saying that we still have a long way to go.

Anybody could write stuff like:

Undersigned
George W. Bush

Comment
Futurama rulz, FOX sucks

Do you think FOX would take it seriously after that? It only needs one undersigned like this or one undersigned using a pseudonym instead of his/her real name and the petition is worth nothing. It worth near nothing even without this kind of stuff. It's too easy to fake names there, and no way to prove that the names aren't faked.

but still worth a try in my book. As desperate as i am right now i would get on my hands and knees and lick some serious Fox boot if it would help in any conceivable way.
