Well, our advertising seems to be doing some good. we're up to 204 signatures (including my brother's, which I added for him because i know he would support it, but he almost never goes on the internet) and my website has had an unusually large number of hits in the last 2 days. which could mean 2 things: people are signing the petition and going to my site from there, or people are going to my site and going to the petition from there. either way is good. what we really need to do is get my site advertised. no, i'm not being selfish. there's a very blatant link to the petition at the top of the page, and even after the petition is over, the ads will still bring traffic! (which is only an advantage for me, really) so anyone with a website, copy and paste this HTML code into your site somewhere, please: <A HREF="http://www.plan-et.tk" TARGET="_blank"><IMG SRC="http://www.freewebs.com/plan-et/images/buddy_button_1.jpg" ALT="Planet Eternium - Home of the Revival of Futurama Petiton!"></A> I'll also send this to [-mArc-] and other sites like TFP and TLZ.

I don't want to sound like I have no hope, but there are four petitions on that site that have far more signatures than yours. (however I don't know when they're from, they could be really old)

Originally posted by PCC Fred: I'm a regular and I thought it was a good idea. Unfortunately it's going to fail due to twats spamming it with stupid names, and especially due to a FOX-esque lack of support from the higher-ups of the Futurama online community. Allow me to play devil's advocate here: The reason the original petition got 160000+ signatures was not that it was supported by the major Futurama sites, but because it was mentioned on In other words many major (and by major I mean with a traffic that beat the combined traffic of all major Futurama sites combined ... twice. I'm sure most are familiar with the expression "slashdotted" ) sites supported us back then sending people to the petition by the tens of thousands. The cancellation sorry "hiatus" was mentioned on tv stations like TechTV, covered in magazines, etc. As mArc mentioned, we had the shock factor working for us, Futurama was a living show that just got axed. Today Futurama is jut one cancelled show among many, with a significant, but by no means large, fan-following. In 2002 the writing/production team was still employed with Curiosity/Rough Draft, today they've moved on to other projects. When the petition was handed over to FOX in March 2003 Futurama had been running on Cartoon Network for close to 2 months, and with excellent ratings. FOX knew of the success. The season 1 and 2 DVD's had been released in Europe (with huge sales) and season 3 would follow soon, with strong pre-orders. FOX knew about the popularity of the DVD's. The only things that have changed since then is the release of Futurama in the US and the Family Guy resurection. While the sale of DVD's have been strong, I haven't seen any evidence proving it did just as good as Family Guy. And the only reason Family Guy got a new chance was the 1 million+ sold DVD's, nothing more. Not petitions, not fan fanatiscism, Cn ratings maybe a little, but basically FOX saw a chance to make a profit, and as the business men they are they went for it. Futurama's higher production cost, mean it have to sell even better than Family Guy to get the same chance. Futurma cost 1-1.5 million dollar (estimates vary) pr. episode, the average reality show cost less than the daily income of an Egyptian ski-instructor. In season 1, when FOX actually advertised the show, Futurama had an average rating of 6-7 million viewers, reality show have more than that each and every time. In television ratings are everything, not #2, not #1, but everything. What can I say, people are stupid. That's some very hard odds to beat. Finally, the last of mArc's points: in order to work this petition have to do better than the previous one. If by some miracle this new petition gathered 80000 signatures, FOX could (and would) argue that support for the show is declining, afterall the number of signatures have dropped by 50% in less than a year. So unless we get significantly more than 160000 signatures handing in this petition would bury the show deeper. Now, these are some of the obstacles you're facing. I'm just listing them, address the issues, don't shoot the messenger. ;) Please. :)
