When your shows are on TV, do you record them, or just watch them?

I record new Simpsons episodes. That's all, though.

EDIT: "Rape?" Shit! I meant "Tape!" Wow, I'm dumb.

Hehehe, this thread name is the funniest typo ever! It's like something Wanky would write...

Anyway, I have taped every episode of South Park since the 7th episode aired on Aussie TV (although I got the first 6 again when they aired a second time). However, a lot of the pre-Season 5 ones were recorded on my old VCR, so they're really crappy quality. Still, I've got every episode ever aired in Australia so far on tape - and I'll definately buy the Complete Season DVDs too, if they ever come out here.

I'll usually tape new episodes of The Simpsons or King Of The Hill too, but I don't keep them forever - I just watch them a couple more times during the week. I used to do the same with Futurama too, but now I have all the DVDs.

Sometimes I record them, but rarely. If I miss something or want to see it again it'll always be on a second time.

I had every ep of Futurama on tape, recorded on the original air date. 'cept I lent a tape full of season three eps to a coworker and he quit and buggered off with them. I have at least six complete seasons of the Simpsons on tape as well as many non-sequential eps. I stopped taping Simpsons in 2001. Nowadays, I don't tape or rape much.

Congrats Leelahoilic, even though it may have been by mistake, this is the best thread title ever.

I used to tape Davivd Letterman every night, because the shows are generally only aired once. I stoped when I got about 30 tapes filled out and it started to get a tad too costly. It's still great to go look at how awesome the show was before Dave had his heart attack though.

Tape... I dunno, that sounds a little strange.

Rape on the other hand...

No not really, I used to tape Futurama all the time, until I had every episode on DVD-RWs, and had the first three seasons on commerical DVDs.

Been loyally taping new shows of The Simpsons since the beginning of season 13, and I've taped plenty of syndicated episodes as well (everything from 1-8 I have either on tape or dvd). For Futurama I taped everything off of Adult Swim, as well as taping most of the McSeason 5 episodes on first Fox broadcast so I could watch them again.

Don't tape much else, outside of occasional shows that I have to miss (usually The Daily Show) and tape so I can watch them when I get home.

haha, I was like, what? rape? how??
but I read the first post and everything made sence.
But to answer the question, I guess yes, I do. I have that new digital recorder, and it tapes up to 40hrs of stuff, so if I see something I like I set it and watch my raped shows

No, I don't tape any shows. I used to tape DS9 and Voyager when I was going to miss them, but that's it. I do "acquire" and keep episodes of The Simpsons, though. (Futurama I have on DVD). If I had the proper tools for my computer, I would digitally record shows I want myself, but at the moment, it is too much of a hassle to tape them. My aunt is a mad taper, though. She has boxes full of Star Treks, Red Dwarfs, and all other sorts of cool tv-ness.

I usually record shows onto my Hard Drive, watch them a few times then archive them on DVD-R as the files not as DVD machine compatible that would be too much trouble

No, I ask my shows permission first, and I respect their desicion. But, if they're bad I bust out the cloriform and then I realize that I don't watch cable tv much, nor own a working VCR. So no I don't "rape" tv shows, like some sick bastards...

I usually tape a few odd things (like the introduction to Futurama shown on Channel 4 on the night the pilot was aired) but more often than not the answer is no.

Oh yeah, I fancy Leela so much I rape her every time she comes on........

In seriousness, I don't tape anything unless I can't be arsed to watch it at the time it is on. Then I use Sky+ to record it so is that technically taping it? Me not know!

When Futurama was on, I "taped" it (I use inverted commas because I didn't tape it so much as record it to computer using a capture card. ).

Nowadays, I don't really tape much, not even the new Simpsons (rare as they are). If I had Sky+ like my parents I probably would, but I don't, so meh.

I have several tapes of "The Simpsons" from when the BBC were showing new ones. I still have my "Futurama" tape, which doesn't have all the episodes but my best attempt at getting all of S1 and S2. But they're also the C4 cut versions.

Now i don't record, i download or buy on DVD.

But in the case of Futurama, I bought the DVD's, same with a few other shows (like Red Dwarf, The Critic)

Having just seen the name of this thread, it gave me a nasty shock.

Anyway, I am not one to tape TV shows, because I never get around to watching them.

*insert obligatory tvshow-rape joke here*

Yeah, I used to tape my favorite shows: DS9, Simpsons, MwC, TNG, etc. Then I got a DVD player, and well those grainy VCR pictures kinda lost their fascination. Now I usually just tape an episode if I know I'm going to miss it.

I taped a couple of seasons of The X Files, some of The Simpsons, Futurama and Friends and I tape EastEnders sometimes. To be honest, I don't tape TV shows anymore, I usually just tape a good episode when it comes round as a repeat.

Short answer: Yes. Yes I do.

Answer that has nothing to do with the doodles in the back of my notebook: Wait, what? Uhmmm.. oh, 'tape'.. the VCR in my room broke a while back. So no. But I used to compulsively tape Comedy Central. I have 5 tapes worth of SNL, Comedy Central Presents and Pulp Comics, which I watch when I have nothing else to do. I still haven't seen all of it. So I have entertainment when all else fails!

I used to tape Space Ghost Coast To Coast when it was on Cartoon Network in the UK, and then they stopped showing it. That's perception, folks: you just know a show that dumb is gonna get stopped sooner or later.
