I have several recorded tapes of Red Dwarf and Blackadder, but I like to buy them on DVD usually.

TOTP complete fuckup of thread title!

My brother and I have about 50 Friends and Simpsons videos recorded off the TV! Some of them are pretty poor quality though because they've been watched so many times! I also have several recorded Futuramas, but I've got season 3 and 4 on DVD. DVD's give much higher quality viewing, not to mention all the extras!

Unfortunate typo! Easily done though!

I just can't take this thread seriously but um...

Not that it's particuarly interesting I used to tape shows/music videos/films all the time but I'd just mix up the tapes, record over stuff I liked and the pelarva of rewinding, etc. Now I just wait and get them on dvd.

For once, I'm proud that I made a typo.

When keyboards were designed, I think they put the "t" and "r" together because they had an evil plan that some day, someone would type "tape" and get "rape". It's a conspiracy!

Seriously, I do tape stuff like anime on the Sci-Fi channel. Why pay 20 quid for 3 episodes when you can get 7 on a single tape?

Yeah DVD's of tv shows better offer good value for money and lots of extra's because otherwise whats the point of buying something you can see on t.v frequently.

I taped The X-Files back when it was still good. I had the first two seasons on tape but then the VCR broke and ruined a couple of the tapes. We got it fixed - or so we thought. It ruined a few more tapes...

I don't tape things anymore. VHS sucks.

"Robbing banks is one thing, but stealing underwear is a serious crime!"

I used to like Ripping Friends, but they only made 13 episodes (Like all Teletoon developed shows, damn Canadian television). To me, it seemed like most of the episodes weren't very enjoyable after more than one viewing. That's usually a death mark for a show with only one season.

Same deal with Undergrads which I really liked. Heres the cycle of a Teletoon show:
-Gets Developed in colaberation between an American Network (In the case of Undergrads, MTV) and Teletoon.

-Teletoon puts up most of the money.

-The show bombs on Teletoon due to poor marketing but is quite successful in the US.

-Teletoon won't put up more money for episodes because they lost money last time, American Network won't spend such an insane amount on an animated show.

-Teletoon goes bankrupt again, and gets saved by the CRTC (Government run Canadian Television board), again.

I got lots of season 2 & 3 Futurama that I taped off Adult Swim before I got the DVDs. I taped 'em in part because I wanted to save them, and also because they played at the same time as The Daily Show -- and I'll be damned if I'm going to miss The Daily Show for anything.

PS: Leelaholic, good job on already winning the best thread title Peelie!

Rape?? Egad, the man's a pervert! (Dr. Freud, call your mother, Dr. Freud, call your mother).

Oh, you mean tape?

I only tape shows that are on when I'm on the road that I don't want to keep. For shows I want to keep, I capture those on my PCs hard drive.

My dad had always taped the new South Park episodes as long as I can remember. However, he had to stop at this season, because he has one of those TV/VCR combos and something's wrong with the VCR part. I saw them all anyway(luckily they air the new ones the one night of the week I'm at his house), but it still sucks.

Wrong! All the shows I know that were broadcasted on Teletoon (Mission Hill, UnderGrads, Clone High, etc) bombed horribly in the states. Most of these programs didn't even get through their 13 episode runs before being cancelled. The only way I know Teletoon shows the entire serieses is because my DivX copies have the Teletoon logo in the lower corner. Never do they have the American logo.

I just watch them, I did start recording the new simpsons episodes but got bored of trying to figure out when new episodes are on without watching sky one all the time.

I did record the last three episodes of Darkplace as it's a rare thing to find something so bad yet so good on tv late(ish) a night.

I have taped every episode of Futurama that has aired here, and I still have them all....including the first half of S1, which my Dad fixed for me after the tape snapped

I have them all on dvd now but it's the nostalgia value....!

I used to tape The Simpsons religiously from about 1998 up until last year when I just lost interest in it....

I don't watch tv these days, plus my reception is crap so there's no point taping anything anyway....

I'll only tape 'em ig I think I'll miss 'em... and even then, it's pretty out there whether I'll watch it or not...
after seeing them, I tape over them... again... and again...

Poor tape. Now every show takes place in a technicolour snowstorm.

Really!?! Well the point still stands, Teletoon is has gone bankrupt due to poor marketing and overspending on shows several times. I'm surprised at that though, I was always under the impression that Clone High and Undergrads did well in the States. Teletoon shows entire series because they often have trouble filling out an entire programming week. At one point they were airing Undergrads(Which only has, I think 13 episodes), 7 times a week.

Back on subject: I buy the DVDs instead if I want to keep something. It may be expensive but tapes cost money too. And did I mention that VHS sucks?

I tape the shows I watch, but when they come out on DVD I buy those and toss out the tapes. Right now I'm only taping Navy NCIS. Other shows I used to tape are Futurama, X-Files (can't afford the DVDs, they're gonna stay on VHS), Dark Angel, 24 (I quit for the season, got to far behind), Firefly, Tremors and Thunderbirds. There are more, but I don't care about them anymore.

As for raping them....hmmm....

I can't remember having a working VCR for the last er, 8 years of my life so no.

Now raping them, I dunno, I enjoy a piece of randy fan art now and then.
 ;)

Oh gawd I remember UnderGRADS being on a billion times a week on TT. I used to love that show, but I think I repeated myself to death on it. At least now we get Futurama 7 times a week!

When I was younger I taped: 'Billy the Cat', 'Aaagh! Real Monsters!', 'Bump in the Night' and even 'Animorphs'. The TV show didn't do the books grace. I used to tape the Simpsons and at one point I had 17 tapes full of Simpsons episodes, but now it's dwindled down to two for just taping Season 15.

I started raping Futurama after I learned the show was cancelled. And by rape I mean mentioning in daily conversations about what I like to watch on TV.

Most of friends didn't even know the show until I mentioned the show's cancellation to them. One of my friends actually started to watch Futurama during the summer of 2003 and he was hooked instantly because of Zoidberg and Bender. Futurama gained a new fan because of me raping the show.
