Well it's a "rule" that was made before my time. Avatars should face the right way, because that way they'll be looking to the text you wrote, instead of facing away from it. It's like looking into the people's face while talking to them, and not away from them.
In the end it comes down to it being some kind of feng-shui reasoning.     

Ok thats fine, so now could someone please make an avatar of Fry's head/upper body and head but not remade like Slack's (Although I am much abliged Slack) but a bit more clearer than Fry1077's. Thank you

EDIT: I think I may use Fry1077's if no one can make any clearer, so how do |I set it as my avatar?????

It won't change on itself if you didn't have selected a custom one before. That you think it did it on itself is because your old custom - the one you had chosen to be showing up - got replaced with the new one.
In Dave's case, he'll have to go into his profile and select "custom" for it to show up.
