Just so you know, you can't have a transparent background on any format but a gif. I think.

the most common picture formats that support transparency are gif and png.

Gifs are bitmaps with up to 256 colors whereas one color can be set as a transparency.

Pngs can do up to 24bit of colors (~1.68 Million) plus 65536 different shades of transparency.

While the standard of gifs is really old, therefore widespread and accepted on every webbrowser, the png standard isn't adapted properly on every browser (*cough* Internet Explorer *cough*). Especially the alpha transparency give problems.

PS: it looks exactly the same, only cut in half. 

The problem is that there are too many details in too little space. A PEEL avatar has to be 64x64 pixels (quite small).

btw.. you seem to have some troubles with using PEEL's UBB codes (or you just pick the wrong one rom imageshack). However I recommend you to have a short look into our little FAQ, the PEELers' FAQ. The codes are explained in there, beside other stuff, such as using the edit button instead of posting twice or more in a row.
