Cubert's first appearance in A Clone Of My Own will always be his best appearance to me. The trouble is they toned him down since then so he's just not quite as hilarious...

I can give Route of All Evil the title of "best episode with a lot of Cubert in it". I can also give the line "Maybe we should start a fire" the title of "best Cubert line". It's a good episode. So this is what it's like... when doves cry. Cubert's first appearance in A Clone Of My Own will always be his best appearance to me. The trouble is they toned him down since then so he's just not quite as hilarious...
I think Cubert's great in that episode, but all the complaints I've seen about him on PEEL seem to think of him as terrible because of his behavior in that episode, to the point that the percpeption of him is based on that episode alone (as you've said, he is a significantly different character in later appearances (specifically TROAE, BSNBAOT, and BG). His changed behavior was an attempt to make him more likeable since his original appearance rubbed so many others wrongly (they mention so in the commentary for BSNBAOT). Since it failed (since many still only see Cubert as an exaggerated Wesley Crusher), he has partially returned to being a brat (TLPJF, ACO). Interesting note, despite the characters unpopularity, he is set to make a major appearance in Overclockwise, the episode written as another finale. It seems the writers like Cubert more than the fans do.

Yeah, I didn't know that either. Are you just speculating, FOA, based on Fry's line in the "Overclockwise" preview clip, about both Farnsworth and Cubert being missing? Also: I watched "The Route of All Evil" yesterday, and the first two acts are really, really funny. But once the Benderbrau subplot (which, as I have stated here ad nauseum, I love so dearly) drops out in the beginning-ish of act three, and all that's left is the resolution of the Cubert/Dwight A-plot, things just get really...boring, to me. But an episode that's awesome for the first eighteen or so minutes can't be disregarded entirely just because the last four minutes kind of suck. So...yeah. "The Route of All Evil" is a solid 7/10 (that is, average-for-Futurama) episode for me. Of all the episodes that people rag on a lot and consider among the worst ever ("That's Lobstertainment!", "A Leela of Her Own"), I think "The Route of All Evil" is, uh, the best. If that makes any sense. Point is, I'd rank many, many episodes below it.

Agreed! I have probably watched the first eighteen minutes of that episode like seven or eight times, but the whole thing maybe twice? Haha.

Not to derail this thread too much (and perhaps we can consider this on-topic because I am about to discuss one of my favorite episodes of all time), but I agree that the mention of Cubert in the "Overclockwise" clip is probably significant. After all, he played a pretty major role in "The Late Philip J. Fry"--and, to reflect that, the writers included him in act one (fetching the Professor's drinking teeth), before integrating him more fully in acts two and three. It's possible that the same thing will happen in "Overclockwise"--and I wouldn't be bothered by that, since Cubert has never really bugged me, when used effectively and in small doses.

I think he means "A Bicyclops Build for Two".

Or maybe he means that the first eleven minutes of "A Bicycylops Built for Two" fit perfectly with the last eleven minutes of "A Clone of My Own," creating one über-episode.
Also: Am I the only person who kind of hates "Fry and the Slurm Factory"? Not to disparage others who love it, of course--I just feel like I'm in the minority by not liking it. This, of course, probably says more about my own shoddy taste than anything else, but I see it on an awful lot of top ten lists, when it's definitely somewhere among my bottom twenty-five.

"Tell them I hate them." makes that episode for me. Every time I see that now, I have to pause and spend 20 minutes laughing.

I think the only part of that episode I truly love and find worthy of rewinding (and it's kind of silly) is the second act break ("Fry!"), and how in the third act when Fry once again tries to take a sip of Slurm, Leela slaps it out of his hand without even looking. Such matter-of-fact, reflexive responses to Fry's stupidity amuse me endlessly, for some reason.
That said, I'm glad I'm not the only person who finds the episode unimpressive.

I happen to love TLPJF, there's a good amount of ship, which I, as a die-hard shipper very much appreciate, and the story in general is just great, and very rewatchable. Well, maybe my favorite is Rebirth. I laughed many times, expecially with Bender, the look of shock on his face and his open mouth is just priceless when Leela wakes up. And the way she says "SHUT THE HELL UP!" is hilarious. And all of the party scenes are hilarious. And again, a good amount of ship. And TPOB was also hilarious, with an unexpected amount of ship. Or, maybe.....TPWP is.....it always makes me hungry, they look like popcorn chicken, yum.
-side note for abbreviations: TLPJF is "The Late Phillip J. Fry" TPOB is "The Prisoner of Benda" and TPWP is "The Problem with Popplers"

The Mutants Are Revolting (best of the best)
That's a first, why do you like it so much zlawke? It's an awesome ep, but I've never seen anyone put it in their Top 10, let alone the number #1 spot.
I think it’s the most moving episode because of beautiful music composed by Christopher Tyng and very touching Fry-Leela scenes (especially this one at the Lake Mutagenic). The whole episode is so damn epic, I mean the mutant’s fight for freedom, and Leela is very well-written here, she’s not so OOC like in IAGDL or Fry Am The Egg Man. And the whole Metropolis reference and Devo jokes makes it perfect.
I haven't posted my top 10 yet, but I know I'll definitely include The Mutants are Revolting. I don't know why people don't give it as much credit. I'm not gonna go into super-detail right now, but I thought the plot flowed really well, and it had tons of hilarious moments, plus some good Fry/Leela. Overall, just a very quality episode. The ending always has me smiling. ...And the Zoidberg line, "3 dollars at the drug store" never fails to make me laugh!
