Like strapping uncooked popcorn to yourself and then blowing your self up with an explosive, it was a truly wonderfull and tasty epic.

It was nice to see more of Hedonism Bot, and you may think I'm totally stupid but even with the name of the episode and everything I couldn't see Fry getting the Robot Devil's hands.

Great episode to finish a great show.
It was also depressing to watch knowing it was the last episode and all, I was almost too depressed to wank to the show like I do in every other episode.
I don't know why so many people don't like the robot devil, I thought he was great but I wasn't surpised when he announced he had leelas hand in mariage, I copped that straight away when he asked Leela for just one hand but then again I'm a lot smarter than the average viewer.
Twas a cute ending but I was so depressed that my semen fell short of the TV screen for the first time since watching futurama.
i'd give it 96%

I loved Zapp's line at the opera. Zoidberg's singing voice kinda freaked me out. I wasn't thinking about the opera having vocals in it. Like many others, I thought it would have been an instrumental. This epsiode was great, I don't think the series could've ended on a better note.

The [Band plays "Welcome to Robot Hell"] closed caption on the establising shot of Robot Hell was nice. Looks like the person that captioned this episode knows their music.    :p

Oh you pedant.
That's just what I was thinking.
    :)

All things must pass away, and my only wish is that when I die I'll die saying something witty, pithy and poignant, and not something stupid or inconsequential like "Did you move my shoes?" or "The cheese and onion used to be green, now it's blue; that used to be the salt and vinegar".

I'm sure all of us that contemplate our mortality feel the same thing.

Futurama ended with such a beautiful and poignant moment. If Futurama had to die, it couldn't have died with better last words.

Teral--
"Zapp: "Brávo. Encore." (Zapp once agin demonstrate his horrible knowledge of accents. He was supposed to say "Bravo. Éncore." Which mean he liked it and want to hear it again)"

I hate to sound stupid, but I have no idea what the writers are trying to get across here.  Zapp says "Bravo (which means he likes it), encore (which means he wants to hear it again)!"  What's the big problem here?

They mean he's pronouncing the words wrong and he sounds like an idiot when he does. That's all.

As Allen already said, he's simply pronouncing the words wrong.

he pronounces them:
Brávo = [breyvo]
Encore = [']ncore]

What he should've said was:
Bravo = [brahvoh]
Éncore = [uncore]

It's all about where to put the accents (those small dots above some of the letters). What the writers want to get acorss is that Zapp's a big idiot.   :D Particular when it comes to language (champaggen).   ;)

With Zapp, it's also sometimes in the usage. In "Kif Gets Knocked Up A Notch", (which was the first rerun played here 2 days ago on 8/17/03 a week after the series finale), Zapp says; "Look, I'm sure we're all a little unclear on how anyone gets pregnant...So, Kif, pray explain...and don't spare the dirty words where appropriate."
Zapp says "pray explain"; the phrase should be "pray tell".

P.S. Kif goes on to say "Well, it's quite simple really...When one of my species experiences deep feelings of love, we enter a so-called receptive state..."
Zapp: "You disgust me!...go on."
LMAO!

What a wonderful way to end it.  The very best you could hope for considering it was not a planned finale.

It was Psudo planned. I belive from when Fox dangled the "we arn't renewing you now with all the other shows. But stick by the phone." Since they wern't officialy un-renewed or canceled at that time they made the episode open enough so that they didn't write themself into a corner should an order for Production season 5 show up. But were aware that it probably wasn't happening.

It probably comes down to the fact that the jokes in "Futurama" aren't obvious enough to the average viewer. Like "Banzai"'s: "See fat man sit in chair...see fat man break chair." (Yeh, actually episode.)  :sleep:

When was this episode shown in the US? I liked it. The ending was a good way to finish off Futurama.. I only wish Futurama could have lasted longer, for me it was the best thing since The Simpsons.

Wish it was "10/08/2003" then it wouldn't have happened yet...You mean 8/10/2003...we're talking U.S. date representation here, right? I think they do it backwards (date/month/year) in Europe.  :rolleyes:

I used the DD/MM/YYYY format for a reason, especially in this thread as it's obvious the date i'm talking about. It's mainly just the US that use the MM/DD/YYYY format, so technically you do it backwards  :p

Ahhh, okay, he mispronounced the words.  I never caught that actually, despite it being fairly obvious.  Heh, "Gwackamoll"...

Side note: in the Bender Gets Made commentary on Season 2, they mention "Leela gets deaf in a Season 4 episode".  I thought this was pretty interesting, considering they still didn't have any idea that they were going to be cancelled at this point.  Maybe Devil's Hands was never written as a finale or even pseudo-finale?  Or maybe they tweaked the ending to give it a hint of finality.

Pedantic? I?

The best definition of a pedant is "what someone who is wrong, calls someone who is right". I don't know who to attribute that one to, but it's my usual comeback when I'm accused of pedantry.

Is it just me, or did the final holophoner scene look a little like this old fanart?
 http://web.archive.org/web/20000816224731/futuramaoutlet.com/fanart/fryleelakiss_christinac.jpg

Dug it up from the Futurama Outlet... now sadly defunct, but at one time the bustling hub of Futurama fandom. Rumor had it even some people who worked on the animation for the show visited the Outlet board, to read fan reviews of their work.

Prolly just a coincidence, but it'd give me warm fuzzies if it was meant to be a deliberate reference.  :)
