I think it would be neat. Plus, it's only 30$!
But I have never heard of a website ending with .ws

I don't know; $30 is really cheap.

.ws is a real TLD. It's actually Western Samoa, but to get money, the government allows other registrars to register it, using the marketing tool that it's "dot website." (Strangely, it's also the abbreviation for the city I live in, making it extraordinarily popular here.)

See http://www.iana.org/root-whois/ws.htm

I wouldn't buy there for the simple reason that they are URL squatters. They for example took control of the futuramaoutlet domain, too.

In addition, Futurama only as a domain name might have FOX ask you to hand over the domain.

There are so many more cerative and still memorable domain names you can have for a few pennies a month...

I think it depends what you use it for. A Norwegian site used the HarryPotter.no domain for a Harry Potter fansite. When the moviecompany behind the Potter-movies sued them to get the domain, they were turned down by the Norwegian court. I think the domainowner later sold the domain to the Harry Potter people.

But, I agree that something more inovative is better. At least something that relates to the name of your site. The domain-squatter argument is valid too.
