First off, i know answers to most questions here are among the nearly infinite topics, but me being a lazy SOB who is forced to work, do i can actually someday soon BUY the damn Futurama DVD's, i can't be bothered with reading every DVD-related post in the past 8 months.

that being said, i'd like to ask a couple of questions:

1. I think i got this, but i need confirmation - Will the DVD season 4 be made up of shown seasons 4 and 5, therefore there won't be a Futurama season 5 DVD, until the Hypno-toad has a little chat with FOX execs?

2. Does the price for DVD box sets varies from season to season, or is it fixed, regardless of the number of discs/episodes?

3. Since i don't own a DVD player (i intend to buy one just so i can watch Futurama DVD', which is the reason behind this query), should i buy a region-free one, or try to seek out episodes box-set that matches my region (BTW, if it is of any relevance, i'm in Belgrade, Serbia - Yugoslavia - Serbia and Montenegro, whatever [my country changes names every few years... i suspect it has something to do with evading our debts   ;)]?

4. Due to my location, where should i try ordering these DVD's, amazon.co.uk or are there other web-sites that ship all over Europe?

5. When will the final DVD box set be released, since i'm an obsessive collector, and would rather wait for 6 months to buy the all at once, than to buy, say, seasons 1 & 2 now, and to have to wait a few months to get the #3, and then a few months more for the 4th season?

so, thanks in advance to those who find the time to answer, and to those who drop in to criticize that i could have found out all this by reading the older threads, please insert tape labeled "Snappy comeback #1" in your tape recorders...

1) I can answer your first question, there are only four seasons fox just prempts them so much that the four seasons where stretched oput into five. For instance "A flight to remember" which was the season 2 premire on television is on is on the season 1 set alnog with 3 that aired after it because they really belong to production season 1

1. The season 4 DVD set will have the production season 4, meaning 3 eps from shown season 4 and 15 from shown McSeason 5.

2. I assume the price goes up depending on number of discs.

3. I'd suggest getting the DVD for your region, so if you need to, you can play it on other people's DVD players.

4. I'm not too sure about the websites, maybe someone else can help you there.

5. If I were you, I'd probably buy 1 & 2 now and wait for the others. If you waited to buy all of them at once, it'd take forever to watch them. That's just over 26 hours of Futurama, you don't wanna get burned out.

And you're welcome in advance.

Thanks, El Zilcho (is it too late to change user names now?  :) ), you speak wisely...

Maybe i should buy a region-free DVD player, and my region Box sets...

BTW, when will DVD season 4 be released?

In the UK at least, the price of each season has been the same, regardless of how many discs (though it looks like season one will be the only season not to have four discs).

I would recommend getting a region-free DVD player as well. Season 3 probably won't be out till early 2004 with Season 4 following in the spring. If you can wait, then more power to you.

I decided I couldn't wait that long and picked up the Norcent DP-300 player from Amazon for ~$40. It is region-free and plays VCDs as well, so it works great for episodes I download off the internet.

I'm hoping Season 4 will be released sometime this year so I can complete my collection!

For the price of the DVD sets, Vol.1 is 29.99(US) and was a 3 disc set. So thats means that when the other seasons come out on DVD in the US, they will be 4 disc sets and will be 39.99 each.

Not sure what you're trying to say, but there is no "collector's edition" of the Futurama DVDs. The DVD box sets all have extras.

VCD is a format that DVD players can read, DivX is a compressed video file that DVD Players aren't programmed to read that.

DivX DVD players are starting to be released, which is nice, but they aren't common.

VCDs are MPEGs converted into a format that DVD Players and such like to read, they have 5 folders with different files in. Using something such as Nero and selecting Video CD will convert your MPEGs to a VCD.

Thanks again... i nneded to know that, because i intend to spend my filthy hard-earned cash from translating crap that brings so much joy to kinds and adults alike (Harry Potter and the Balance of Earth) to buy a really expensive digital camera, so i can make my own Futurama, with blackjack, and hookers! Well, not actually Futurama, but my dad works on TV, so i intend to produce my own TV show, something along the lines ofMOnty Python, The Fast Show, all, of course, inspired by Futurama, so i need to know will i also be able to make viewable CD's, for presentations. Here, people who are on higher posiitions in the media don't know squat about technology, and generally detest computers, so i think it'd be more impresive if you play someone a presentation on a DVD, than on a computer screen (they always think you'll scam them somehow, using the magic of computers)... Whew... Okay, i'm done ranting, for now...

That seems overly optimistic, though I'd love it if it were true. Is your source reliable or are you just jerking us around? Wouldn't it be available for order on Amazon UK it this were true?

I'm still betting we won't see it till the end of 2003.

Yeah, I saw this too on their site. The keyword is 'anticipate'  :) Honestly, it seems to good to be true. Wouldn't Amazon be taking preorders then? I guess I'll have to wait until 9/1 and see if they start shipping it out.
